Manny is great to have for you guys but how about adding some more starting pitching may be more helpful

Especially with Lowe being a free agent...Manny asking for $20mil a year

Money spent on pitching might be wiser

and Mannys agent is rumored to have contacted the Phillies already about their interest in signing him

as incredible of a hitter Manny is we don't want or need him. Bad attitude and lazy doensn't play in Philly. We much prefer the Victorino's of the world. and you can't give Manny $25 million when we have Hamels, Howard, Utley and Rollins to pay. win it this year and we could put paris hilton out there next year and i wouldn't give a fuck though.

I'll be the first one to wish Frank McCourt good luck with the whole Manny situation. Manny has got him over a barrel now with what has happened over the last 2 months. I can tell that Dodger fans will be PISSED if they don't sign this guy but do you really want to commit $100 million over the next 5 years to Manny. The Manny that Dodger fans saw was a Manny on his best behavior because he want to get paid. As soon as he gets inked somewhere he will go right back to what he was in Boston. There's going to be a time where the Dodgers are in a pennant race and Manny will go Manny and not want to pinch hit when he has an off day.

Good luck Frank because you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

Don't pawn Bradley and Sheffield on us. We don't want them. They were not real Dodgers. True, Mondesi and (I am assuming Pedro) Guerrero came out of the Dominican to our farm system. Mondesi was a troubled guy and ended up going back to DR, I think, because of money issues in his family or something. But Guerrero? Was he an asshole?

Hey we did get to sweep the cubs, and we didn't get blanked in this series. it's a step up from our recent past.

I am satisfied...now if only in the off season Torre could learn a little bit MORE about NL pitching and how to best utilize the bullpen.

    not that I am bitter.

Next year YOUTH is going to play a huge part in how the Dodgers fare.

I don't think Lowe will be back, and right now I'm not expecting Manny to be, either. Furcal, Kent, and Nomar will probably be gone as well.

Offensively, our success is going to depend upon a bunch of young guys -- Martin, Loney, DeWitt, Kemp, Ethier, etc. If they improve over this year, AND we find someone decent to fill the voids at shortstop and one outfield spot, then we might be okay. Andruw Jones is still a big question mark. If he somehow manages to get back in shape and hit, say, .260 with 30 homers next year, he could help us. However, just thinking about him in the line-up instead of Manny is pretty depressing right now. :(

More significant, however, will be what kind of PITCHING staff we'll have. It's going to be young, that's for sure. How will Billingsley step up to being the #1 starter, and will this year's shelling in the NLCS effect him going forward? Can Kershaw put all of his talent together and consistently show the brilliance we saw in flashes this year? Will James McDonald make the rotation, and if so, will be he as dazzling as he was at the end of this year? Can Broxton be a reliable closer?

So many questions, so many possibilities. April 2009 can't come soon enough!
