Manny would not have gotten a triple if he had run faster. Don't buy into the Tim McCarver crap. He hates Manny Ramirez. Say what you want about Manny, but he knows he's standing on 2nd if he jogs on that.
I agree with you on this one.. He's 36 years old and is getting paid 20 million...no need to strain himself..his pose admiring his double was straining enough

He hates the Sox period. He probably hates Manny because he's an ex-Sox player.

McCarver is a moron, and not because he dislikes Manny or the Dodgers. He's just a moron.
100% right. Here's a little snippet of his idiocy:
McCarver has been known to make verbal gaffes, particularly with player's names. He has referred to pitcher Tim Wakefield as "Bill Wakefield," (the name of one of his McCarver's minor-league teammates), referred to pitcher Bronson Arroyo as "Brandon Arryer" and also, in 2007, he continued his trend of mispronunciation of Red Sox play name calling Jacoby Ellsbury as "Ellsberry". Several times called Albert Pujols "Luis Pujols." In one game he misidentified New York Mets outfielders Endy Chavez and Cliff Floyd as Eric Chavez and "Chris" Floyd.
McCarver has also called pitcher Nate Robertson "Dave" Robertson; and Curtis Granderson Curtis "Ganderman." He misidentified Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Kenny Rogers as "Steve" Rogers, perhaps a mistaken reference to former MLB player Steve Rogers.
While commentating on the 2006 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, McCarver described a fastball from Brad Penny by saying
“ A 'Mark Wohl-berg' fastball. Catch me if you can! ”
McCarver possibly confused Mark Wahlberg with Leonardo DiCaprio. It was DiCaprio who was the star of the movie Catch Me If You Can, not Wahlberg. It is also possible that McCarver was referencing former Atlanta Braves pitcher Mark Wohlers, who is credited as throwing a pitch at 103 mph.

My favorite one ever was when Tim McCarver said, in the 2003 World Series, "Beckett's retired 19 batters through Six and a third innings, he's having a phenomonal night..."
Of course, Beckett hadn't retired 19 straight, nor was "straight" ever said. The very definition of Six and a third innings is that 19 batters have been retired... every pitcher who has ever pitched Six and a third has retired 19 batters, regardless of if they were throwing a perfect game or were losing 20-0. Phenomonal indeed!

That's funny, I just talked to a guy I work with who's from Philly and he said he thought McCarver was very biased towards the Dodgers. I, personally, didn't notice it, but I try to ignore McCarver as much as possible. He said something about a changeup like "the pitcher uses all his fingers when he throws the changeup, except the thumb. Most people have thumbs." That's great analysis, Tim.

By the way, he's also stealing the Dodgers' signs with runners on 2nd (last night) and broadcasting them, where the clubhouse can relay them to the Phillies dugout. I am not kidding. It's not kosher for him to do that.

the one my friend and i still recall.....don't remember the game but the batter hit the ball at the pitcher and old timmy said "back through the originator" what a tool
Huh.
I don't see Pacino as Lasorda--maybe he could be Vin Scully!!

He would really have to "bulk up"!
I've heard him swear like Lasorda, tho.

Let's hope for a high scoring game. At least Ryan Howard can't hit a breaking ball. Don't count on that lasting though.
The Dodgers need to score some fucking runs. Stop taking the first 2 strikes. Jesus Christ.
Also, what do we have to do to hit a HR in that cracker jack box? Missed another chippy by a foot.
how about we stop GIVING UP 4 FUCKING RUNS WITH 2 OUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Serving up meaty pitches to the 8 and 9 hitters both games. You let a pitcher kill you, you deserve to lose. It's unbelievable.
But this game is not over yet. We can't score 3 more runs against Brett Myers?
Shut them down. You're only 2 runs down. At least Manny will get more at bats every time you load the bases and leave them there. Shit.
Gotta get out of the third without giving up more than a run...
