Anchor Steam is a really good beer ...
From Boston, where I'm from ...
Harpoon Brewery ... there spring Hibernian Ale is fantastic ... their holiday Winter Warmer is an acquired taste, but delicious. Their IPA is second to none ... soooo hoppy."You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91

Yeah, Anchor Steam's good stuff...they sell it at our ballpark here in Philly....I had one of their variety packs before - good stuff...Also from your area I had Bigfoot Sierra I believe? That's waayyyy better than regular Sierra.
Philly area people - did any of you hit up the Navy Yard or XPN's Beer Fest? Good stuff.
Oh, this also gives me chance to see about something...I've been looking for a really good cranberry ale?? Haven't had one yet and I've been thinking of brewing one.0 -

I used to HATE the taste of beer. I thought it was disgusting. Then I studied abroad in Germany and fell in LOVE with it.
Now I'm a total beer snob though. It isn't really my fault since I've lived in Germany and the Czech Republic, and have travelled to Belgium so I'm used to the very best when it comes to beer. mmmmmm beer. I could use one now.

I just bought some Dogfish Head for the first time, Indian Brown & Raison D'Etre. Both were good, but I definitely liked the Brown better.
I have some Flying Fish Amber in the fridge right now. Good stuff.
And, I just had some Brooklyn Brewery Oktoberfest which was also really good.
I generally love Brown Ales overall. Newcastle has to be near the top of the list for me all time.0 -

Yeah Brooklyn's good...What kind of Dogfish Head did you get? Ya see, I'm a big hops guy and I LOVE IPA's, and the 60 minute is good and the 90 minute is real good.0 -

Beer is SO fresh there, no preservatives ... you cna drink forever and never get a hangover ... it's amazing!"You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91

When I lived in Germany I fell in love with the cheap prices and availability of tons of beers I had never heard of before. You could get singles too, if you wanted 1 or 7 or 27 beers, no problem. So I tried alot of different kinds. Between my broken German and my buying habits the cashiers at the local store must have thought something was wrong with me.
Before I went to Germany I was a beer fan, but now I an a conosseuir!
Funny that I was "that guy" that drank Zima when I was 15 because I hated the taste of beer.I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too.

I had the Indian Brown Ale and the Raison D'Etre. You'll have to look on their website to see how hoppy they are though. My beer palate is not sophisticated enough yet to form a solid opinion on hoppiness.
The Raison won best beer of the year at one point, but I actually preferred the Brown Ale.0 -
Yuengling (Since 1829) America's Oldest Brewery...is about all I drink (at least a few every night)...usually a stock of 3-4 cases of cans in the dedicated fridge in the garage...moving toward the beermeister as soon as I convince my wife or take it upon myself to just go get it.
Being from SJ and going to college in PA, it is everywhere which is awesome. I remember in college it was the "expensive beer". We typically drank Natty Light at $10/Case. Although, we did find 1 place that sold a 24 case of 16 oz. bottles for $17/Case with a $1 credit for returned bottles.
I have to get out to the tour someday.Columbia 96/98;Randall's Island 96;Tibetan Freedom 97;Late Show 98;Camden 98/00/03/06/08;E Rutherford 98/06;MSG 98/03/08;VF Choice (DC) 98;Uniondale 03;State College 03;Holmdel 03;VF Change (Reading) 04;AC 05;Philly 05; Lolla 07.....[EV Newark 08]0 -

I couldn't agree more.Bavarian beer is the best!
I remember my first trip to Munich, I was 19. And on my last night I drank four liters of beer. That's A LOT for me. I threw up the next morning at the train station.
Good times though!0 -

Yeah, the tour's alright. About the only thing good about Pottsville. LOVE Lager. Can't drink it as much as I used to because it was all the time, but it's good stuff. Look in your beer distributor for Yuengling. Just Yuengling - not Lager or whatever. A buddy of mine got a case of cans of it before(blue and red cans) and it was only $9.99 Now THAT is a damn fine deal.
And since you seem to live around here, try Stoudt's Pumpkin Ale....That shit is sooo good during this time of the year....Two beers I wanna make for the holidays: 1. A Cranberry Ale & 2. A beer that tastes like Ginger snaps0 -

I dont like many light beers, but when in the light beer mood I like Miller Lite. I actually think it is a good beer. Cant stand Bud Light, Coors Light, all that shit is too watery. But Miller Lite I can work with.I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too.
