  • I probably would have defended this dude from the people claiming he is racist, but the part where he mentions he is a white guy who is an obama supporter sent me into lulz.

I can just imagine this guy holding up a picture of obama and asking the black dude to rob someone else. lmao

I think you're off the mark here. If he was attacked by a white guy he would probably come on here and say "Some guy attacked me in my home today". Not "some white guy attacked me in my home today". I am not saying the OP is racist at all, and I feel for him and send him my sympathies for having to go through this, it's just indicative of the general feeling amongst some people that black people have some sort of predisposition to criminal behaviour. That's not true. It's a social problem, not a racial one. It just manifests itself as a racial problem because of the social implications of being in a minority.
If the OP were black... he probably WOULD say 'some white guy attacked me in my home today'

I don't get the problem... he was attacked by a black guy. Well ok, the problem is that he was attacked... why did he need to mention it was a guy? wtf difference does it make if it was a man or a woman, eh? Is he being sexist? ;)

If a black guy attacked me, I would say 'a black guy attacked me', if he were Polish (same race as myself) I would say 'a Polish guy attacked me'... if he were a midget I would say 'a midget attacked me'. It's all relevent, enough with the PC PLEASE!

The fucking guy was black! Ut oh, do not point out a description of him. Thats racist! Fucking Stupid.
Agree completely. I will never understand that bullshit. Differences between people are what make us all interesting... but if we're not allowed NOTICE the difference... or mention the fact that we notice the difference... how the fuck does that make anybody racist? I'll never get it.

  • Sorry for making five posts in a row but why are you all giving this guy a hard time?
That is a 100% true statement. Stats or not its true. And speaking up about it does say you are racist at all. It just the truth.
People get all bent about racial profiling, why? If the majority of people who are commiting robberies in a certain area happen to be black, that's not a fucking coincidence. Who do you think the cops are gonna look for? A all white irish male? Wake up people.
I am far far far from a racist, I just have the balls to tell it like it is.

Sorry guys, this kinda suff bothers me.
:) I like you. Cos if we can't say it like it IS for fear of being racist or whatever, if we don't acknowledge a certain problem, how the fuck is it gonna be fixed?

Is it racist for me to notice that most immigrants in Dublin seem to all live in certain areas. Regardless of race, if you have groups of more than likely poor and not so fortunate people (as immigrants tend to be) living in the one area and not integrating... well you're GONNA have social problems. FACT! FACT! FACT! FACT! FACT! It's the governments who try to get everyone all fucking PC... cos if political correctness means you can't address social issues... well it means THEY don't have to do anything about it.

I don't blame the races or the nationalities... I blame the governments.

Well no doubt the cops would of asked for a description, and the op would of said 'black male'. However, whether that has any relevence on this board is what is being debated about.

Anyway Malcom x has been through a traumatic experience, we shouldn't start laying into him because of 2 words 'black male'. We should be sympathetic and hope he is alright.

    Hope your alright. Chin up.
I agree... I wonder if the cops laid into him and gave him a lecture on racism when he told them it was a black male

well if the thread didn't, I certainly would have :)

This stuff really fucking annoys me. MCKB had great points... I mean when I had my phone and money robbed from my office a couple of years ago, I completely discriminated against ALL thieves and hated them all and would have supported the Islamic way of chopping their hands off... I know it was wrong of me to place all thieves in the 'bad' basket :o but I was angry and couldn't help how I was feeling at the time... but I did wash my mouth out with soap and water and said 240 hail marys and attended counselling for three years and now I love thieves :)

*deep breath* Ok. I like you a lot, I think you are a positive presence in most threads here and this is the first time I have ever felt the need to call you on something like this but what the fuck is that supposed to mean?! He gets robbed by a black guy so he should stop affiliating himself with black people? That is bizarre.

And by the way to Acoustic Guy who I believe made the same comment (I didnt quote you because I expected it from you), read up on Malcolm X a little more huh? He's no different from you. You have, several times on this board, advocated violence to solve what you see as a problem. he was a tad more justified than you though. I'm assuming you're father wasn't murdered in a racist attack hmm? I'm assuming you weren't brought up in a country that treated you as a second class citizen? Let's not be hypocrites here people. It's amazing how the gun-toting white man who thinks we should shoot burglers is the same guy that objects to a gun-toting black man who thought we should shoot racists.

It's not the same thing Helen and you know it. The police needed a description, we don't. He didn't tell us the guy was black so we would look out for him, he told us he was black so we would look out for all blacks. I'm not saying Malcolm is racist, he's clearly not given his username, and I feel sorry for him but he did start this thread asking our opinions about whether he was being racist right now and if it was justified. Don't forget that. People didn't just wage in with their liberal guns cocked. He asked if it was ok, he got responses.

Excellent! Spot on! Some people are waiting to have a pop at anyone that mentions skin colour, nationality, size of cock .... anything.

The originator had just been robbed and stated he was robbed by a black male. What's the problem? Thank God he wasn't a black, one legged dwarf, we could have really seen the PC Brigade pitch in. Sorry should I say a Physically and vertically challenged male of ethnic origin?

I don't think it was the word black (for the purpose of description) so much as it was the word black, followed by the david duke comment. And then the "Obama supporter" comment was the icing on the cake. ;)

No you haven't. That softens my cold, "politically correct" heart a little

It's a stupid fucking argument anyway. Everyone and his mother knows I'm right ;) they just want to be the cool, laid back "fuck political correctness" type of person. It's not political correctness, political correctness is calling someone working class instead of lower class. This is dealing with deep-seated racial prejudice, somewhat more of a bigger deal. Listen, I'm as cool with passing comments as the next person. I'm not even that bothered that the OP said "a black man", if he had left it at that. He questioned HIMSELF over whether or not it was ok to say that. He brought the notion of racism into it. That's what makes me think it is maybe more than just a passing comment, maybe not. It's the responses from other people on here that riled me.

I'm a middle class white 19 year-old ok? I'm also pretty damn liberal and I believe in the right to be able to make comments without being leaped on as a racist. I occasionally make very politically incorrect jokes because people who know me know that I am just joking and only tell them because I don't believe there is anything that can't be made funny. It's just when people start throwing around statements like "The MINORITY in America is the MAJORITY of the problem" that it's not funny anymore. This isn't a fucking joke: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/78/ThomasShippAbramSmith.jpg

So I'm done. Have a good day people :) To the OP, I hope you're feeling ok and not too traumatised by your ordeal. I also hope nothing I have said has offended you here. I just feel strongly about this and, after all, it is a discussion board.

EXACTLY. Why is everyone overlooking that and attacking those of us who see a problem with this kind of mentality as "political correct liberals"?!

Not only that but he ASKED for our opinions? :D

I think the 'Obama' comment was thrown in there to indicate to everyone that the OP isn't racist.
OP was under a good deal of stress at the time, so I wouldn't say it is a clear indicator of an underlying problem.

    Just one more thing.
Iwas just thinking about how you said that I have spoken other times about solving my problems with violence. Its true, I have and I was thinking whether or not that makes me a bad person? I think I am a good person. I take pride in being a very good husband and a very loving, gentle father. But, if I get backed into a corner I explode like a caged animal. This is just who I am. And I only get this way if someone or something is a threat. Not to some innocent person. And maybe some might concider me a recist b/c I have issues with a lot of races in my country, including my own. But I do not hate someone just b/c of their skin color. I have issues with the individual. If they are black then so be it. If they are white, so be it.

I am rambling here I know but until someone has walked in my shoes and delt with the shit I delt with in the past, they will never understand me.

Agree with all that is said here. However, my concern was not in his original statement of describing the perp as black. It was later on when he aligned himself with David Duke a former member of the Ku Klux Klan and a continued segregation supporter. Now, for someone who has "grown up with blacks his whole life", who is supporting Obama, and who has given himself the screen name of such an influential black man, I wouldn't expect them to run for the white hoodie when the going gets tough. Again, I'm not saying that the op is a racist, nor is it ok that all these people on here have bashed him for using the word black to describe this guy, but the David Duke comment is still odd to me.

But dunkman was right. You're making your own presumtions about him and to call the people 'cool and laid back' for arguing there point is really patronising.

If you look at history, there is always some trend to follow and right now it seems to be political correctness. In most case, that's great but looking at this as an example, the first comment that was made was 'why did you mention he was black'? No one said 'Oh, he's a guy... I see'. And as for him saying he was angry and felt violent about it, well... so be it. I can't blame him. It doesn't mean he's neccassarily going to burn down the guys house.

It's a fact of life that racial attacks happen and all political correctness does is mask the problem. I'm sorry I'm just repeating others, I'm just AMAZED sometimes at how naive some people can be! I just think political correctness is another form of brainwashing.

I felt that Helen was pretty patronising as writing those of us who objected to aspects of the OP off as "politically correct". I don't give a shit for political correctness. I'm talking on a human level here.

"to call the people 'cool and laid back' for arguing there point is really patronising". I agree, maybe it seemed that way. I didn't try to be patronising. However, several people here got similarly narrow-minded responses for disagreeing with you and others.

I'm not trying to cause arguments here but I'll be damned if I don't have convictions in my opinions on this :)

, but the David Duke comment is still odd to me.

I'm surprised with your wit, Mookie that you didn't get that one. I understood it as 'That's how upset I am right now! - 'That i'll put myself on the line and compare myself to someone everyone hates'. I guess it is a bit odd and thoughtless but people shouldn't read too much into what people say sometimes. imo
