They did, but no one really threw that many pitches.

Lopez, Oki, and Paps will be ready for tomorrow. I would say Masterson too, but as a young kid who was a starter I wouldn't want him pitching two days in a row.

The bullpen threw a total of 64 pitches. Masterson threw nine and nobody who pitched threw more than 18.

nah honestly what I believe it is, and it shows too is the whole "second best" complex. I been to other stadiums like in toronto and Shea and the Yankee fans dont NEED to act that way guess its the fact that we've won so much. If I was a fan of a team that won only like 3 times since like 1908 and was cursed and always came second to a superiror NY team or never got the recognition our team gets I might behave that way too

    oh well

rather be Yankee fan any day and thank god I chose them as a kid

Don't sell us short it's a bit more than 3 times, now get it right. I'm happy with what we've accomplished I can't speak for others but I'm good.

well maybe we are done after watching that debacle...we'll see  Ponson vs Byrd tonite...we lose again, that's it..it'll be a wrap for us

and yet, here you are coming in and talking shit in the red sox thread, when none of the red sox folks have gone into the yankees thread at all ... looks like you're the one with the 2nd place complex .... oh, wait, sorry, 3rd place complex!

and believe me, I've run into asshole fans from ALL walks ... Giants, A's, Dodgers, you name it ... and indeed, many MANY asshole Yankee fans (which sadly, you fit the profile). Sadly, it's always a vocal minority that everyone is based on. I also have many really good friends that are Yankees fans as well. Shocker, I know.

ya youre right the no 1 market in the world with a team that has 26 championships 2nd place complex

    that makes sense

believe me we could keep losing and the attention no matter what will always be on us..its a double edged sword..the media loves us regardless. YOU know this, I know this and the whole red sox nation knows this

anyways..I dont really think im an ASSHole...I just like to talk shit...big difference ;) and hate when my team loses to an inferior team :D

Not sure if you guys check out bostondirtdogs.com , but there is an interesting little column about Manny today.

Since signing Manny in 2001 the Sox are 20-37 against the Yanks after July 1st. I'm not trying to make some revisionist history, but maybe his presence as a Yankee killer was overperceived over the years.

In his first two years with the Red Sox, Ramirez was 9-for-40 (.225) with no home runs and one RBI in 11 games.

From 2003-2007 in games against the Yankees after July 31, Ramirez was 27-for-65 for a .415 average.

While their post-July 31 record against the Yankees is not great, I don't know if blaming Ramirez's statistical performance in the games has to do with it. You can blame him for missing games with whatever "injury" was bothering with him, but can you blame him for going 8-for-11 with two home runs, seven RBI and nine walks in the five-game series in 2006?

From 2003-2007 in games against the Yankees after July 31, Ramirez was 27-for-65 for a .415 average.

While their post-July 31 record against the Yankees is not great, I don't know if blaming Ramirez's statistical performance in the games has to do with it. You can blame him for missing games with whatever "injury" was bothering with him, but can you blame him for going 8-for-11 with two home runs, seven RBI and nine walks in the five-game series in 2006?
no. you blame the rest of the team for shitting the bed that series.

he needed to go. he's gone. the sox are playing great.

    isnt it? :D
As the Yanks have no shot at the post season, I guess this series is all that matters to Yanks fans.

I like the move for Kotsay. He's no power threat by any means but he has a solid OBP and BA. He should partially fill the hole left by JD Drew. I'd rather have him out there than having both Coco and Ellsbury playing everyday.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

I alwyas hated that stat ... great, Kotsay hits .386 at Fenway ... against Red Sox pitching ... it's more about matchups than ball park in my opinion.

anyway ... another injury, grumble ... as long as they can hold onto the wild card and get Lowell and Beckett back in time for the playoffs, they'll be in ok shape.

Byrd v Fat Ponson tonight ... smart bet is to take the 'over'.
