"Breastfeeding Moms Protest H&M"

I don't have any problem with women breastfeeding their children in public, however has anyone else noticed how these "incidents" all seem to occur every year during breastfeeding awareness month?
We just had an "incident" here. Seems to me there are a number of women who are just trying to incite people to ask them to stop and then scream bloody murder about it.
That I have a problem with. The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.

Brain of J.Lo wrote:Well, first of all babies -- especially very young ones -- don't always have schedules. Yes, you can put breast milk in bottles, but you don't always have that much control over your milk supply vs. when the baby is going to temporarily tap you out.
But more importantly, why should a woman have to take the time to pump milk into a bottle when she has a breast with a nipple with her at all times? If you're out, and the baby needs to eat...you feed the baby. What's wrong with that?
Love this! You go girl! I breast fed three of my four children, two of them for 17 months! The last one never even touched a single bottle. Not once did anyone catch a glimpse of one of my boobs. When your child is hungry...you feed it, who likes to listen to screaming infants??? I know it's like chalk on a blackboard for me to hear!

facepollution wrote:Well a baby doesn't have a feeding schedule if you don't give it one. If your baby is that young that their feeding habits are all over the place, I would have thought shopping would have been the last thought on your mind! Have a back up supply for when you are out if need be, or maybe find a slightly less obvious place than a clothing store to feed your child - hell go in the changing rooms.
Just to clarify, I couldn't care less if a woman wants to get her breast out in public, it's the over zealous 'I have a right' to be able to feed anywhere that baffles me - I genuinely don't see why it is a problem for a woman to plan for such an event as feeding her child.
The over zealous "I have a right" types wouldn't need to be the over zealous "I have a right" types if people didn't have the attitude that they don't have a right to breastfeed their babies in public. For a start, just because one has a baby, does not mean that other needs don't need to be met. Grocery shopping for instance, clothes shopping.... etc.
Nature designed women to feed their babies and provided the convenience of anywhere, any time, on demand nourishment. Why should a woman, who is perfectly equipped to feed her baby when her baby needs to be fed, have to go through the sometimes excruciating process of expressing breast milk, sterilizing bottles and teats, searching out places that have the facilities to warm up the milk just to go down to the store, simply so people like you don't have to put up with the over zealous "I have a right" types? Western cultures are the only one's who have really overly sexualized the breast and made it shameful to do something thats not only natural, but also the best possible thing you can do for your baby.
You mentioned attachment parenting types as well........... these people account for the majority of parents in the world. People who separate themselves from their babies, put them in cots in another room, try to force them to sleep alone and leave them for long periods of time, are in the minority.0 -

Breast milk is to feed the baby until it can have solid food, I think. I breastfead a long time I think, my first son a year, and the rest like about maybe 14 months, not long after really.
Beyond that is not what I felt I needed to do with them. That is me, though. And the babies at that age were walking anyway so they were more interested in the surroundings than my feeding them that way. I can still recall when they stopped and their little toddler heads, turing all over while trying to feed and then them getting distracted , pulling off and wobbling away in that precious new walk way.
wow, I just remembered them so clearly. Thanks for triggering that. A bittersweet feeling and memory. I always remind myself that even the memory is precious. A blessing similar to having loved and lost...etc. although that one I still do not agree with........oh well.Baby, You Wouldn't Last a Minute on The Creek......

writersu wrote:I remember when I had a newborn and a two year old, (my first two sons) and I went for a walk and it was a bit far from my home, but I had a double stroller and so both kids were in it. My newborn son, was breastfeeding (I breastfead all my babies) and as a newborn, he was still on demand feeding. Which means that you don't really give them a schedule but reasonably, when they cry that hungry cry ( as you find out soon after being a mom there is a difference; hungry cry, tired cry, oh my God it's gas cry,(shrieking cry). wet diaper cry (which is not really too different only you can kind of weed all other reasons and figure that one out), so I had no idea to plan when he would eat again. I fed him before we left but like two hours later he was hungry because he did what newborns do and fell asleep and never really got full I guess.
So I stop in a maternity store with this crying baby and a twenty month old big brother, and think they will be kind enough to let me in the dressing room with both of them, let me feed this crying baby in private and I would be on my way. The woman tells me no. So I walk all the way home with this little tiny hungry crying baby who is now upsetting his 20 month old brother who has no idea what the hell this kid is even doing here behind him in this stroller much less why it so noisy, and I am about to cry as well from the stress and being unable to help either one. So after I got home and fed the baby and all were calm, I called the store and talked to the manager and told her that it was quite hypocritical for a maternity store to be so cold to moms and screaming newborns. She gave me some lame ass answer about stealing from stores, which was lame ass because I would have gladly let her check the stroller, diaper bag, whatever the hell she wanted when I was done feeding him, and that was that.
That was total bullshit. I was not imposing on anyone. Some women can quietly feed their babies and not impose upon anyone; they should have the right to feed them.
then there are the other wack jobs who whip it out, look at you in your face, don't even use a small baby blanket to cover the exposed areas, and are pigs to me. I have fed in public; sometimes you can't help it really, but I have never just whipped it out so to speak and been rude about it.
I wonder how many of these women were justly complaining as in my first example and how many were just ranting for the fuck of it.
wow,...........now I am ranting........hormones............damn
if people have a problem seeing breastfeeding in public then can i start a campaign to keep douchebags with their popped collars and loud drunk asses under house arrest? tit for tat, or twit, or something
i need more sleep lol

I know...I felt the same way...
and I am not a huge fan of the breastfeeding in public...but I guess it depends where...for some reason I don't mind the food court.....where we can all feed together?...:)
I don't have any babies yet...but I don't know if I would feel comfortable with my boob out with a baby on it, especially in h&m..or any store..
BUT I do know I have not been there so I am sort of ignorant to the subject..9/1/05, 9/2/05, 9/4/05, 9/5/05, 5/24/06, 5/25/06, 5/27/06, 5/30/06, 7/16/06, 7/18/06, 7/20/06, 7/22/06,7/23/06, 6/22/08, 6/24/08, 6/25/08, 9/21/09, 9/22/09, 9/25/09,10/06/09,10/07/09, 05/07/10, 09/25/11, 07/16/13,12/04/13,12/06/13, 10/14/14, 4/7/17, 08/08/18, 08/10/18, 05/04/24

Has anyone who has posted negative comments about breastfeeding here actually breastfed their child? Just for the record, breast milk has the most nutrients when it is fresh (i.e., straight from the source).
Sheesh...I own a children's store and we have women in there all the time shopping AND breastfeeding at the same time. Most women are as discreet as they can be, but they shouldn't feel that they have to hide in order to feed their child. "Taking a shit" and breastfeeding are two very different things. Come on--what are we, 15 years old?!?
Sorry if I sound bitchy, but I loved being able to breastfeed my son. It was just an amazing thing to be able to do it, and especially since I probably won't be able to again!!!
Take care,I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

Yeah...well, in a children's store or a place where a lot of breastfeeding mums might be...but not on a minigolf course or at the breakfast table surrounded by people you don't know, or at the ATM vestibule, or while you're delivering mail, or driving, or at starbucks..... I mean, I don't expect to see suckling going on when I'm shopping for shoes or maybe some ski poles...or standing outside a venue to buy tickets, or when I'm getting my car tuned up...or if I'm at the vet or the dog park.
And I know, "breastfeeding is a beautiful, natural thing that establishes a bond and love"...well, sex is all that and more, and you won't find me having it in the middle of a clothing store or the bus...or even a sex shop, come to think of it...be philanthropic0 -

That I have a problem with.
There are incidents like this all the time. It probably makes bigger news if it happens during "breastfeeding awareness month". (I didn't know there was a designated month.)0 -
