I was 198lbs solid last summer which is great shape for me.
I now am at 215, I run 2 miles four days a week and can not drop any weight.
    WTF?
I wonder if the beer and wine have anything to do with it? ;)

    110! You're so tiny! Unless you're like 3 foot 5, but I doubt you are ;)

Guys with extra weight on them seem to carry it much better then a woman would. I think for the most part guys clothing is much more forgiving.

Nothing wrong with having a few extra lbs, but if you are going to try to drop some, do it for you, not for anyone else. It's much easier to keep it off long term if you are doing it for you.

After a while your body gets used to moderate exercise. You just need to crank up your metabolism, the best way I've found it to do high intensity interval training (HIIT), you can read about it here: http://www.musclemedia.com/training/hiit.asp , basically you warm up, then alternate between moderate running (for example) and sprints, then do a cool down. This can boost your metabolism for more than a day afterwards, meaning you are burning more calories as you rest! It's pretty hard work, but incredibly effective.

I didn't exactly do this but I workout on an elliptical machine (38 mins 2-3 times/wk and 24 mins 2-3 times/wk) and the course that it gives me allows for one minute slow downs every 8 minutes. So I bust it for as long as I can, then cruise to the rest, kind of like how the workout suggests. I've been doing this since January of last year and I've dropped from 203.5 to around 180 (as low as 176.5 and high as 183.5). It's not easy but if you do it you will feel better.

Biggest thing you need Jose, will power.
OK, rule these out of your diet for the forseeable...
bread, pasta, potatoes, pastries, cakes, sweets....forget them!
    Live on this.
Bran flakes, skimmed milk for breakfast
Tuna fish/chicken/as much fruit and veg as you like.
One night a week spoil yourself, you will find that you'll need a smaller portion of your treat soon enough.
You can enjoy a beer or 2 if you stick to this, also you should take some excecise daily, get some dumbells, do some crunches.....you'll be even more irresistible to Mrs Jose before you know it.

  • Will power and hard work are the only true ways to lose weight in a healthy fashion. You have to eat properly and excercise between 3 and 5 days a week.

All these gimmicks and surgeries I believe are unhealthy in the longrun.

bread and pasta even if it is whole grain super duper wheaty whole grains
up the ass, bread will forever be fattening..
better whole grain tho than white flour based breads.
potatoes are starch which i think is sugars, i could be wrong tho.
    alcohol is fattening.

i just chopped a shit load of firewood, awesome excercise..
and feel like a billion dollars
muscles pumped and blood flowing raw..
    yeah, its awesome...:D

cutting this stuff will help lose weight quickly, pasta and occassionally wholegrain bread can be re-introduced at a later date in my experience. But there's no magic formula, healthy eating, smaller portions and good excercise that get's the heart racing, that's what is needed.

seriously.....I managed to put a little healthy weight back on after dropping way too much from stress. but after dinner at my sister's today, i think I heard myself get fatter. moooooooooooooooo................

good thing? I've been riding a lot more lately (took quite a few months from it after my horse was euthanized) and I'm back to the gym. This one day a week of totally stuffing myself is ok....other than the fact I feel like a lion after the kill.

I'm a tad underweight for my height and find it impossible to put weight on so I just wanted to come into this thread and gloat... no I'm kidding :) Seriously though, I wouldn't mind having a few extra pounds. I'd rather be overweight than underweight. At least you gan burn off fat, you can't burn it on and eating doesn't do much for me.I drink a shit load of beer and don't get a pot either.

Jose, maybe take a look at the behaviours and habits you've developed that have helped you put on weight? And then make small adjustments to help you lose it again. For instance get a smaller dinner plate and make the majority of your diet fresh vegies and fruit. I guess I'm not a big advocate of cutting any food group out of your diet, a wide and varied diet is best, just have smaller portions, cut down on fats and sugars, drink more water and increase your activity.

I can see no sense in trying to lose weight fast, it simply puts your body into a feast famine type mode and will mess with your metabolism in the long run. TRUST ME on that! :D

Diets don't really work, people are much more successful with lifestyle changes and long term good eating and exercising habits. You'll be back to buff in no time AND even if you're not I still think you're great. :)
    NOPE!!!
