the thought of eating a dead animal, something that comes out of an animal, or an embryo makes me sick...
I'm hungry now, but I'm not going to take a bite out of my arm, I'm going to stop trying to get tickets to LA#2 and go get some qdoba!

good answer, thank you. I wouldn't eat something if the thought of it made me sick, either.

when i saw this word, it reminded me of something:

during the roger clemens hearing he was asked a question, i dont remember exactly wat it was, but his response was "vegan? i don't know what that is." i dont know if anyone here cares about it or knows what im talking about, but i just think its crazy that somebody of his fame, success, and wealth doesn't know what a vegan is...

I am for environmental and ethical reasons. I've been working more raw foods into my diet for health reasons.
I think most people would be surprised about how much vegan junk food is out there.

  • I don't eat meat, but I do eat dairy products. The thought of eating something that was once alive and had blood deeply disturbs me.

That's pretty much the same for me. There are ethical, environmental and health reasons. I was vegetarian, and never thought I'd become vegan, but when I found out more about it, and the reasons behind it, it was the only answer for me. A personal benefit that I have reaped, is I almost never get any skin breakouts, after giving up dairy.

I just had a nice dinner of sweet and sour seitan with pineapple, broccoli, and kitcheree (and Indian rice/lentil dish). I'm not totally healthy either - I still eat plenty of dairy-free dark chocolate, though granted some people consider the antioxidants in chocolate as healthy.

I count it as healthy, if that counts for anything. :p

Why would you think about that while you are eating it? I dont think I have thought once about the dead animal while eating.

    I'm not.

You've heard the saying "I love you so much I could just eat you!"

Well, I mean that in a literal way when it comes to cows, chickens, and sometimes pigs.

I love animals so much that sometimes I can't help but to pat them out into patties and grill them to juicy, tender perfection.
I have dogs instead of children... I'd rather ruin my carpet than my life.
  • Milk contains high amounts of sugar and a great deal of unnatural hormones. Most milk also has a high fat content.

Most animal protein has a high amount of fat and in fact cholesterol is mostly found in annimal protein.

Fish contains some good fats, but also some less than good amounts of mercury.

And how can not eating meat be beneficial to your ethics, the environment, or your health?

Humans are animals, right? Do you think a lion stops to think about its ethics before it rips open the throat of a zebra? No. Because apparently lions have more sense than some humans.

If everyone stopped eating meat, the cow, chicken, pig, deer, turkey, etc, population would become overwhelming and would definitely have a negative effect on the environment. We were created to eat meat, and by doing so, we contribute to the natural order of things.

Meat has proteins that your body needs.

Vegetarians and vegans piss me off.

Yeah, I know, who wants to question the world around them? Why think about anything you do while you do it?
  • Wow man, that was so hilarious and clever. You should have your own tv show, seriously.

  • Yeah, I know. Why would anyone ever want to believe in anything that you don't. I mean, clearly everyone should think and act as you do. The world would be such a better place.

  • I am not vegan, but my fiancee is and I assure you she doesn't eat "rabbit food". Vegan has actually become its own cuisine like raw food, theres a 4 star restaurant in Portland thats owned by people who aren't ethical vegans. I really don't understand why people can't respect the ethical beliefs of others. I would never join the military for ethical reasons but I would never say that someone who did was bad, or stupid. By your same logic (and what great logic it is) if you see a good looking girl, why not rape her? I mean, you only live once.

Big difference between eating a steak and doing something that is completely immoral.

I can respect it, I just dont understand it, that is why I question it.

  • There are people all over this world who think that eating certain types of meat or eating meat at all IS completely immoral. Maybe instead of spending so much effort "questioning" other people's beliefs you should examine your own.

Somebody is a bit ornery tonight. If you dont understand the difference between hurting a woman by raping her and eating a burger then you got some serious issues yourself.

  • Somebody doesn't know how to read tonight. I never said the two were the same I simply stated that many religions, cultures and individuals would view both activities as immoral, albeit in varying degrees.

I do believe it is a lifestyle choice... My old boss was a vegan until she met her husband. My mother went vegan for awhile... but went back to meat products. I dont have alot of meat in my diet... but couldnt see giving up that huge porkchop my body craves for iron once a month!

Have no problems with vegans/vegetarians. just know that i've tried doing it before and can't. not for me. like meat too much. again, i have no probs with vegans, but i DO have a problem with some of what PETA does, and some (not all) vegans thrusting their views upon meat-eaters.
