they play long shows--rarely repeat songs when playing two nights in a row (new music excluded).

  • I kinda like them
"I'll do whatever the song dictates - if it doesn't need a real lead, then I won't do one. But if it does, then I'll fuckin' go off." - Mike

"Japan is awesome; the fans there knew all the words to all the songs...at least phonetically." - Stone

"I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version." - EV
  • i like them alot as well... the songs have a lot of meaning... and Vitalogy was the first album i ever owned....

They really care for the fans, they are excellent songwriters, and excellent live performers.

Their music is the PERFECT blend of accessibility and intelligence- a very tight rope that very few have ever walked across.

That sounds right to me. PJ songs have pretty much provided the soundtrack to my life since I was 15. Certain songs from Ten through Vitalogy bring back strong memories for me.

Black brought on a whole new meaning to me in my senior year of high school. The first and only time I ever cried from a piece of music. And I know I'm not alone in this.

For me, it was Small Town. To this day, it reminds me of the same girl- and that was 13 years ago.

Ten made me believe real musicians still existed. VS. was all of my anger set to music. Vitalogy kept me sane during my parent's divorce. No Code was perfect for my new relationship. Yield was the brilliance I was in need of when the relationship ended. Riot Act the perfect album for my insane spur of the moment road trip.

And Binaural was the perfect album for that period when you were so drunk you forgot it even came out.

I love how Pearl Jam changes up their live shows from night to night. Some bands play the same set every night, Pearl Jam keeps it fresh.

I would say most bands, not some bands. U2 might change 1 or 2 songs from one night to the next, even if they are playing two nights in the same city.
It's not their responsibility to change the set every night, but PJ knows it will make for a better experience for them and the fans.
