guess you missed last night's game :?

Clearly you missed the reference to the last game of the 2010 season. :D

ah yes the year you dogged the cup again....remember it very well

I think pjhawks has a good point in that you probably don't need the Todd Fedoreks and the like who just take up space on the bench (and against the cap) until it's time to fight. Tocchet was a multifaceted player who could drop the gloves if needed, and also drop a hat trick on the Devils in the playoffs. It's not even close to the same thing.

without fighting there would be more injuries in the NHL. guys could skate around throwing cheap shots with no reprecussions. I have no problem with teams having a fighter on their roster. The fourth line only gets a handful of minutes a game anyway.

Plus I really like watching the fights. I didn't think there was anyone that didn't

I'm not saying to ban fighting. But you should be able to play a line of guys who can play a little bit (at least not get destroyed whenever they're on the ice) and be able to drop the gloves. If you can play your 4th line a lot, at least in the regular season, you'll save a lot of wear & tear on the roster. (would've really helped last year)

good article in SI this week about how the role of enforcers has evolved. the guys playing these roles are light years ahead of their predecessors skill-wise. you cant just be a goon in the 'new NHL', guys have to be able to play at least a little bit to make rosters.

    good read

you could make a case he should have had the first...

second one he had no chance, and the third was basically a breakaway at that point. :x

I think he sucks. I'd trade him now while they can still get something for him. He goes down as soon as the puck crosses the blue line.

I know it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things with shootouts, but he is the worst breakaway/shootout goalie I have ever seen.

No point having him around if they can find an average backup goalie making less money...and if they can get something back...even draft picks.

Emrick I think left he does just National games...he's annoying as shit also anymore

He over does it. Gary Thorne is great of course best all time was Gene Hart locally

I agree 100% about emerick. I thought people loved him...glad to hear I'm not the only one that thinks he is a nerd.

I loved gary thorne as well. he's now the play by play guy for the orioles. don't think he does any hockey these days.

pierre maguire is the worst though. that dude is from jersey and he tries to talk like a canadien. what a tool

    and two fights.

    Simmons destroyed some dude.

Rinaldo started out slow, but came back and was doing well before a 2pt take down.

Emerick is annoying but at least knows his hockey. I can take him or leave him - probably leave him.

Thorne has a great voice but sometimes went minutes barely paying attention to the game.

I really like our hometown JJ, actually.

Classic: Gene Hart. Listen to the part at 6:45 - he almost went to heaven with a heart attack right there.

the coturier/voracek combo is thoroughly outscoring frosty. I know he is injured, but that is looking like a great trade for the flyers. coturier looks like he is going to be a really good, well rounded player.

As to Johnny's point, I think JJ is great too. I miss dornhoeffer

Coturier has looked excellent so far....and he has that classic throwback Flyers look.

Voracek seems to be hit or miss on nights. Sat night he was flying around out there, as expected, but other nights he seems so invisible.

I still think JVR needs to be more physical.

The new goalie has finally started to look solid.

And 4 lines need to play...

Really? :? He sounded like an cranky old man to me. Also looked like that walking back to his hotel after the Primeau game in Pittsburgh.

I loved that he got so fired up about fights and hits. He had a bigger man crush on lindros than I did.

Throughout their history, the flyers have had solid announcers. Hart, Emerick, JJ.

Emerick is pretty good but he gets too excited at times, especially during the regular season. JJ is great. Actually like to see his role on the Phils broadcasts expanded. More Franzke and JJ and a whole hell of a lot less McCarthy. Also really like Clement and Jonesy on the Flyers broadcasts.
