but repitition... come on... how can he not? we saw both sides of 2 face already... and he was a pretty sane reasonable villain in TDK... killed the people responsible for rachel... i guess towards the end he seemed to be losing his grip on things moreso by going after gordon and his family... whos left for him to go after?

will he just keep going after the corrupt cops of gotham? or does he have some grudge against batman now? whom he owes his life to?

guess i just cant picture what will happen so id rather write him off alltogether...

Trust me...if Dent returns...Nolan will have something interesting for him to do. I doubt it will just be Oh My Two-Face is back for revenge!

When Gordon was speaking at a function, surrounded by police officers and (what looked to be) city officials, with two big ass pictures of Harvey in the shot and said "He was the hero Gotham needed, but didn't deserve", is it me, or was that supposed to be a funeral?

I get the 'hidden agenda' stretch people are claiming could lead to Two Face just being locked up in Arkham, but how does that work? There was a battalion of GCPD around the perimeter of that locale. Wouldn't someone say "where's the body"? The cops had that place surrounded and were fastly closing in (even though they didn't know Dent was there). How much time would Gordon have to hide the body, quarter off that section to keep people from looking there, ran back upstairs and tell Barbara and the kids not to mention anything about Harvey being there and whatever else it would take to pull this ruse off? Did Two Face just eventually get up and run off on his own? How does this 'he's still alive' argument work.

Oh yeah, i've seen the lando references in this thread too. Made me smile, so to anyone who thinks Harvey is still alive, i have my own Star Wars input for you. I'm Vader, and i ain't listening ....;)

FINALLY some support on the WHY and HOW is dent still alive... my only guess is that the next installment will begin with dent en route to a hospital or something and he pulls a skin masked hannibal lecter move and escapes... but even still... wouldnt the cops surrounding the place wonder why gordon and his family and dent and batman were all hanging out in an old abandoned warhouse? nolan did this on purpose so all us batman nerds would sit here racking our brains over it! ASSHOLE! hes skilled enough to write his way out of this though and i cant wait to see the next movie

and that vader thing was hilarious!

Anyone else pick up the Dark Knight score? It's awesome. Just like everything else with this movie, really well done. It doesn't revolve around one central loop like most scores. Each character has a sound all their own.

    Highlights are:

    1) Why So Serious
    3) Harvey Two Face
    8) Like a Dog Chasing Cars
    10) And I thought My Jokes Were Bad
    14) The Dark Knight

OK, the film was released here today, and i have tickets for the 10.30pm showing tomorrow night with my girlfriend, dad, and two other friends.

Obviously, i can't wait to see it and i've done well to stay away from most spoilers. All i know is that a fairly major character dies, and we see Dent's transition into Two-Face.

I've read endless spoiler-free reviews, and after seeing almost every magazine and website give it full marks, i need to know....is it really THAT good? Is it really surpassing the hype in a way that the new Star Wars films and Indiana Jones film failed to do?

yeah the voice sucked. It wasn't that bad in Batman Begins at all. I wonder why he changed it.

Well, for starters it's much better than the Star Wars prequels or Indy 4. I mean MUCH, MUCH better.

Ledger is golden. He surpasses the Joker hype. It's not like you're even watching an actor play the Joker. You're really watching the Joker. He's unbelievable.

The rest of the film is really good but it's not the greatest thing you'll ever see. Actually, if you take away the Joker, I'd probably prefer Batman Begins. But I can't stress enough (like everyone else who saw it) how great Heath Ledger is. You'll be hanging on his every word and every action.

Easily the best film of 2008 and, in my opinion, the best comic book movie ever made. and Ledger's performance is the best in the history of action movies.

Excellent post, I totally agree (although I prefer the action in Dark Knight to Batman Begins). Words can barely do justice to Ledger's performance, it was just amazing to watch someone embody their character so perfectly.

yeah I downloaded a bootleg version of the film (which isn't that bad actually) just so I can have the Joker scenes on my computer until the DVD comes out

There's loooooooooads in the comic about Two-Face, they could take it in any number of directions. They could focus on the development of his split personality, or his growing dependence on the coin, or they could continue with the differences between his ethics and Batman's ethics by making Two-Face a vigilante. As you said, he was pretty sane in Dark Knight, so how he becomes more of a bad guy is really up to whoever writes the future films.

I think they'll make Two-Face like he was in 'The Long Halloween,' where he's sort of like a vigilante (like Batman) but on a different level...

kinda like Boondock Saints or something...

Put me in the "Dent is dead" camp. I have no reason to believe he survived and if he does, it will only have been down to what happened with Ledger.

I'd really rather not see more of Two-Face either. I think it was handled masterfully and was a brilliant tragic, sympathetic character. There is no need to ruin it. That said, as much as I love Batman in general and know there will be another one, I'd rather there wasn't it. There's no way Nolan or anyone else can top TDK. I hope Nolan himself realises that. I'd rather this series go out on a high note. Then Chris Nolan can go about new ways to amaze audiences.

    Heath was fucking terrific.

The film was very entertaining and a cut above most Hollywood films, not to mention superhero films, but it's not the best film of all time. Calm down IMDb :p

But yeah, Heath deserves an Oscar nomination, if not a win. Best performance in a superhero film ever by far. I'm not entirely sure he deserves the extent of praise given, I wouldn't put it in the top 50 acting performances ever, but he was definitely brilliant in it.

Yeah I was thinking that earlier, how on earth could they top it? I read somewhere that Johnny Depp was being lined up to play a villain which could definitely be good. But since the Joker is the most iconic of all Batman's enemies, I don't know who he could play that would stand up to Ledger's Joker.

every role depp plays ends up being cheesey as hell... maybe he just hasnt had the right roles to work with... but wonka and todd were well established in my mind before he took on those roles and he wasnt what i expected... so i hope if he does get involved he surprises me like heath did

not sure who he'd play though... some sort of scissor handed pirate?

except for in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas where he is completely amazing.

and I also like him in Ed Wood.

but I otherwise agree with you.

Oh and yeah, can't see Johnny Depp doing any Batman character, sorry.
