Ok...Now that Spring Training is about to get into full swing I've got to admit that I am super excited for the new season to start. I've got my Yovanni Gallardo (hopefully he's healthy and doesn't bust up his arm after knee surgery) and Carlos Villaneuva jerseys washed and ready for this year. I'm going to miss having that fat bastard behind the plate in exchange for Kendall, but still this could be a fun year.

If the Pitchers stay healthy this year and the starters can go deep into games I think we'll be decent. No Coco could hurt but he's no Mo Rivera or Papplebon so it wasn't worth dropping 40 mil on him, especially when we can get an ex-roider with a history of arm problems at the back ;).

All I really have to say is Fuck the Cubs, and hope the Goat curse stays alive.

I admire the optimism in this thread. I hope your team makes it to the majors this year. It would definitely be a well deserved accomplishment ;)..

There is nothing wrong with second place. In fact, I hope you guys pick up the wildcard!

We have a lot to be happy about this year, basically some of the best young talent in baseball that could have taken the NL Central last season if it weren't for Ben Sheets re-signing his multi-year deal with the DL. So it looks like we could just be sliding into being a major league ballclub.

Besides last time we played major league teams from the AL East we took 2 of 3 from the Yanks with a chance at the sweep (w/ Sheets going in game 3 and losing) so we'll see how it goes this year. The Cubs are certainly loaded, but they are the Cubs so a stinkbomb of a season where everyone gets injured could happen - and would bring me such joy. Honestly though the WC isn't out of the realm of possibilty considering the D'Backs made it through last year with smoke and mirrors (should have only won 79 games with their numbers), and no one else getting all that much better besides the Rox, and Mets.

Just messing with you. You may in fact be looking at a very successful season. Just don't get your hopes up against the Mets because your team will get their ass handed to them no doubt :)..Otherwise, good luck..

The Mets, Phils, and Braves certainly handled us last year so I can't really argue with that at all, but maybe we can figure out how to go on the road and string a few together...it's all a matter of things coming together. Last year was either that year where everything went better than expected or a sign of things to come. As someone who roots for a perennial loser I'm hoping for the latter.

Last year's squad hit more HRs than the big-time Yount years, although we could have used him in CF last year, over a struggling Bill E. Hall. There's nothing wrong with a little optimsm for a young team anyway.

That's one motherfuckers...we owe the cubs another 10 of those. Gagne does in fact suck, but last year Turnbow only gave up runs in like 5 appearances (although he gave up a thousand when he did), and early in the year got all the tough outs for Cordero. So maybe we should just make the switch.
