Id definitely expect an officer to respect me.

I would as well... which is my point: if you'd expect them to show you some respect, you gotta give it in return. 9 times out of 10, if you're polite and respectful to anyone (cops included), you'll get it in return.

maybe this time around the judge will sentence you to an anger managment class along with your driving class.

when you get out of the car and run your mouth - you're lucky you didn't spend the night being bubba's bitch!

Cops can be pricks, but there are a couple of things you should just...know.

    a) Always buckle up, and stay buckled up. Cops will get you every time on this one!
    b) Never, ever, ever, ever get out of your car unless they ask you to. Some cops might feel threatened, and others take that as a perfect opportunity to act like a hard-ass. It's true. Even if you take the fucker to court, you are in their mercy because the judge will side with them every time.
    c) Take their ass to court if they are in the wrong. More often than not, cops will not show up for court dates for traffic tickets.
    d) The sooner you can get Joe-law away from you, the better you are. Most traffic cops love their power but hate their jobs, so as long as your aren't intoxicated just be pleasant and curtious because they are more likely to let you off, or lessen the tickets/fines.

What that guy did was wrong, but there are def. better ways you could have handled it!

Would you expect a police officer to respect you, though? You're starting to paiint with a VERY broad brush. Until a particular person does something to lose my respect, I'll treat an officer with the respect that I feel a person in their position deserves.
I respect everyone til they show they shouldn't be respected but CERTAINLY not because of their job or because they're in a position of power but because they're people. That's not so hard to understand surely? A badge does not give you more respect or mean you're better than anyone else.

so by 'running your mouth' you're referring to the OP questioning the cops abuse of power?:D ahhh... people never fail to astound me.

I was going 110 the other day in a 55..

13 years of driving and never one ticket!

By this point when I do get pulled over, they look at my record and let me off with a warning because my record is so good. :D

helen, remember we have guns.....i'm not gonna look it up, but there are hundreds if not thousands of routine traffic stops where the cops was shot and killed.....cops now treat EVERY traffic stop with extreme caution....they just don't know who's behind the wheel....that's why you never get out of your car unless you ask the officer first...it's for your safety and his
ah ok fair enough! I'll respect the gun :D and I'll continue to pretend to respect the cop :D

Look up on youtube "never talk to a cop." Very valuable lesson to be learned.

You're talking about that law professor and that cop lecture right? I've seen that... good advice. If I ever get in trouble, I'm not saying anything!
Whoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.

I'm all for driving fast and fast cars. But 110 in a 55 can be dangerous. Even if you are a solid driver, you can't count on what other drivers will do on the road. They weave in and out of lanes, break for no reason. So please take care.

In having said all that, I did 150 in a 45 once racing against my friend on his motorbike bike. But the road was empty, open and it was after hrs.

Now check this guy out, 219 on a highway.

and this in the same model car,

You hear him fly by, then screeeeeach 'crash!'

Remember, SPEEDING DOES NOT KILL! crashing does. :D

    Drive safe,
