Anyone else been checking out the 'Talking Sopranos' podcast with Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa? It's one of the best Sopranos-themed ones out there. They have so many great guests, including most of the cast, talking about the show as well as their own lives and careers. There's a really cool vibe and respect between Michael and Steve and their guests.
I got HBO just for the film (will likely keep it after). Watching the whole series again.
Man, even at Season One, it is so damn well done.
Season 3 finale is on tap for me tonight.

I got distracted during S1 of the rewatch....think I'm going to cherry pick a few episodes per season as a way to watch and catch up on advance of the movie.

I just can’t. Too many great lines like “cunnilingus and psychiatry brought us to this!” and “stupida fucking game”!
Watched the Columbus Day episode last night. I think it's probably the first time I watched the whole thing since the first night it aired. And I was pretty hammered after coming home from an Eagles game (Brian Dawkins had himself a DAY that afternoon). I remember my friends and I being really pissed at that episode at the time. Watching it now, although still one of my least fav episodes, it was ahead of it's time. Silvio was super pissed about cancelling Columbus day and talked about how mad he was about teams like the Braves thinking about changing their names and stuff. Would've fit in perfectly with this current era we are living in.
PJ Soul---forget any of those other shows you mentioned. Watch The Wire and The Sopranos immediately.
Also--The Newsroom is garbage after the first season anyway!
I do plan on watching The Wire for sure. The Sporanos? Well... I'm sure I'll probably get around to it eventually. If it's on Netflix or Amazon Prime. It just seems like a LOT of fucking mob stuff man. Too much for me I think. I love Goodfellas and Casino as much as anyone, but the Italian mobster theme isn't generally my cup of tea. I even hate The Godfather. Can't get through it. Never seen the ending.
If I could suspend your posting privileges I would. Hating The Godfather?????
Okay, so thank you COVID-19, lol. It lead to me finally allowing myself to get drawn in, and yes, it caught me. The show is awesome. And I also watched all of the Godfather (and 2 and 3), and I decided I now like that as well, although I still think it's kind of overrated. The whole trilogy was a good pandemic watch for sure.
I am very interested in this new Sopranos related show. Especially because I LOVE Vera Farmiga.

I'm not a huge Sopranos fan. 1st 2 seasons were dynamite... but they ended up dragging everything out. You would have to wait a long time for a 'good episode' to happen. Lots of loose ends and sloppy storytelling.... and the stories weren't even that captivating. By the 4th season-ish, I really didn't care for any characters, nor did I have any strong feelings against any.... I kind of hung on the last few seasons to see how they would end it... and then, to my horror, they really didn't end it.
Maybe I dont give it enough credit as it kind of pushed the drama series envelope.... but I would argue Oz was the one to do that as it came first. Then since, series have hit a new level of writing and captivating audiences. Breaking Bad, Wire, GoT, House of Cards, among many others, put Sopranos to shame IMO.
Still miffed about the ending. Either nothing happens and fatso eats onion rings.... or he is offed, off-camera, off-series by some C-level side character we never know. Wow, great job. I had hoped/expected some culmination of the Feds, NYC family, Internal strife, etc to suffocate Tony and watch him either prevail or be done in for the final season.
Jumped in to chime in, but looked and said what I was going to say 4 years ago and I dont remember, ha.
Almost through season 4. Yeah it is the low point of the show. But I forgot that Ralphie's secret ingredient to his eggs is a dollop of sour cream. Have always meant to try that out. Gotta get on that.

It's such a great show but there are some tough episodes to get through. Christopher/Adrianna with the rapper in season 1, Columbus Day, season 5 episode with the 30 minute dream sequence, all the Kevin Finnerty stuff. Just got through the Finnerty stuff and now on to Vito in New Hampshire! Will be sad when it's over.
The rapper episode wasn’t my favorite. In fact, Christopher’s whole writing and film thing was unnecessary to me. Except for the scene when Lauren Bacall gets sucker-punched.
Juggler, do it! Cream cheese or even chèvre work well too.

Tried it this morning with the sour cream. Delicious.
Finishing 5 tonight. I think it is better than 4, but not as good as the first three by a long shot. 5's problem, mainly, was that it was just uneven. There are some great episodes and a few snoozers.
Not looking forward to the Johnny Cakes storyline looming over the horizon....

I’m wrapping up Season 4. No way will I be finished by October 1st.
Yeah I'm 2 into 6. So I think I have like 18 episodes to go. Will be tough.
To me, one of the reasons the later seasons were not as good as earlier ones is AJ. That kid sucked as an actor and the character stinks. Yet he's given a lot more screen time towards the end for some reason. I can't stand AJ.
I'm in Kevin Finnerty Land at the moment...

Agree fully -- AJ peaked in Episode 1, Season 1 with "what, no fucking baked ziti" or whatever his line was. All downhill/dumb from there.

Lol...yeah 30 minutes into a 7 season show and it was downhill. Agreed. Wish they would've realized how bad an actor he was and just used him for comedy relief like that from time to time. But the family was such a huge part of the show, I guess they couldn't do that. It's frustrating. Every scene with that douche is cringeworthy.

One of the worst characters in TV history. I know teenagers are generally assholes but my god AJ is the worst. Horrible actor and character.
The Finnerty episodes were tough to get through but they didn't go on as long as I thought they did. Feels like they were half the season but was only a couple episodes.
