PJ Soul---forget any of those other shows you mentioned. Watch The Wire and The Sopranos immediately.

Also--The Newsroom is garbage after the first season anyway!
I do plan on watching The Wire for sure. The Sporanos? Well... I'm sure I'll probably get around to it eventually. If it's on Netflix or Amazon Prime. ;) It just seems like a LOT of fucking mob stuff man. Too much for me I think. I love Goodfellas and Casino as much as anyone, but the Italian mobster theme isn't generally my cup of tea. I even hate The Godfather. Can't get through it. Never seen the ending.

  • To me Sopranos is the best.
Breaking Bad I loved but I found it too sad and distressing.

The Sopranos is a meandering waste of time after season 2.

Common misconception. It's more psychology/family dynamic stuff than mob stuff. A lot of people who expected it be like those movies all the time were often disappointed by all the other psychoanalysis stuff that was going on...

Loved Sopranos.  Game of Thrones now sits upon the iron throne and is the best HBO series to date

Yup.  "Waste management" was but a part of the series - and those parts were really well done, as well as the others.

At least watch the thing before mistakenly branding it!

The Sopranos - it started it all.  Is there a Breaking Bad if the Sopranos was not a huge hit for cable?

True, but even those episodes had these beautiful and interesting moments like the surgery light, seeing Livia, the traveling and identity concepts...

BUT IT'S IN ALL CAPS =)

I liked The Leftovers very much, but that wasn't even in the Sopranos league.

No, as I said, I did catch and a handful of episodes when it was originally airing. I understand what the deal is with the show. It just didn't get me particularly interested.

I don't want to be a schill or anything, but I want to suggest that you subscribe to Amazon Prime. It's a great way to save a ton on shopping/shipping, plus you get Prime Video, which is really good, plus Prime Music. Probably some other things too, that I don't use, but someone must. It's $80CAD/year, which is a really good deal.... Of course, some people are principally against shopping via Amazon vs in-person stores... Hypocritically, I've chosen to overlook this. Man, shopping online is so much fucking easier. I'd never do it for clothes I haven't worn before, nor for most groceries, but man, for household goods and stuff, as well as vinyl, it's SO much easier and usually cheaper to have it delivered. For free.

i agree with this. i loved the sopranos when it was current and an active series. i went back and watched the entire series as it was on marathon on hbo the last week. i realized that the only characters i ever really liked were paulie, sil, and phil. i hated all of the rest of them. i also hated the ending of the final episode.

i don't see anything beating game of thrones unless this new season sucks. i did not care for some of the story arcs this last season so i am not setting my expectations too high.

I've been going through and watching random / favorite episodes - Barren Pines, the college trip and that fucking Reagan bust, the killing of Big Pussy, the ep where Furio had the chance to kill Tony by the helicopter but didn't, Second Opinion, and of course, this gem:
