But no, I dont think there will be anymore. I think George Lucas was happy to close up the whole story. I didnt like the sequels as much though. I may be a dork for this, but I liked episode I better than II and III. Im probably the only one too :)

if lucas hadnt gone so overboard with the special effects... why was the technology more advanced in the past?

This is exactly what ruined I-III for me.......

You cant watch the 6 in order believably.....such a shame.....

Maybe it's just me, but I kind of look at it like episodes I - III were kind of like the 'golden ages', i.e. the Roman Empire sort of thing, kind of inner peace and prosperity and technology (for the time). After the fall of the Republic, it became a sort of 'dark ages'. I think you can look at IV - VI as those dark ages, where society was fragmented, technology took a step back, a lot of knowledge was lost and things were a lot more brutal and unlawful. Overall I don't think that the originals are that hard to watch in continuity, I mean they don't show Coruscant or anything like that. Some of the control pannels look a little clunky, but overall the transition isn't as unbearable as some make it out to be.

The script/dialogue and acting performances on the other hand....ouch!!! :) Originals - classic/timeless. I - terrible, terrible, terrible. II - watchable but cringeworthy. III - great effects and tie in to original series, decent story but still a few cringeworthy scenes, esp. from Hayden.

Good post. The episode I Anakin had the worst dialog in my opinion.

Qui-Gon: Anakkin, stay in the starship.
    [starship autopilot starts taking off]
Anakin: Well he did say stay in this ship.

I kinda agree with that to an extent, but i still think they went way overboard with CGI, it simply wasnt needed......

maybe if theyd spent a little more time on the script/acting.....

I love the original trilogy, but the 2nd just didn't reach that level, but all that's been discussed here already.

A friend mailed me this link to a preview of the coming animation series: http://starwars.com/video/view/623.html

Don't you love when Star Wars dorks have a serious discussion about a fantasy world.

looks pretty cool... just 2 problems:

    1) why did they have to make all the characters look like puppets? i know they have the means to make em more realistic looking... wouldve preferred something more like the final fantasy films

    2) why couldnt they have explored a time span that people actually care about? more general grievous? who cares? go after episode VI or before episode 1 or something new...

    just my opinion :D

I'd like to see another Star Wars trilogy as long as Lucas hands the task of directing over to somebody else like Peter Jackson or Josh Whedon.. Preferably a younger talent.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the prequels, but the were only good and not great.

and while he's at it, get someone to help him with dialogue. i know lucas says he wrote star wars for 12 year old boys but those 12 year old boys(and girls) grew up and we expected something on a par with the original trilogy. i think lucas's strength is editing not directing.

i also think perhaps in the same way the original trilogy showed the two sides(vader/luke), eps 1-3(primarily ep3/maybe ep2) should have shown the sacrifices obi-wan made against the sacrifices anakin DIDN'T make. just for balance, you understand? :)

yes yes i think too much about this stuff. but this is my childhood lucas is screwing with. :p:D

I agree, more life-like would be nice, but I enjoyed the earlier Clone Wars animations too..

Uhm.. I actually wouldn't mind more story between II and III.. Grievous not really, but the Obi Wan / Anakin story more or less hangs on "he's holding me back" in III which is kinda lame.

jesus... never heard about that til now... lucas has completely lost touch with what makes a good movie... just like jerry bruckheimer and jj abrams... all tools...

SNL did a skit about it pretty funny. I tried to find it on youtube, but no luck. I think it was Josh Hartnett hosting, and it was him and four other guys dancing with light sabers.

Was he though? I think we can all agree that Christenson did a poor job with much of the acting, but he also had some terrible lines to work with. "My heart is beating... hoping that kiss will not become a scar." But how do you define Anakin as weak-minded? He was clearly a skilled Jedi but because he started his training so late in life he had attachments to other people: his mother, his home, Padme, etc. He was emotional, and it was his downfall. We saw a lot of this in Luke as well. It's part of the story arc. You can look at the entire 6-movie series as The Tragedy of Anakin Skywalker and it works pretty well. At least until Jar-Jar and the stupid new CGI scenes in Ep IV get in the way.

Good to see you around, Doc. It's been a while.

Really underrated in the Star Wars universe. He deserves his own series.

To go along with what the poster said about sacrifices, in the expanded Star Wars universe Obi Wan gave up a love interest due to dedication to his Jedi principles, unlike Anakin.

The Xbox game centering on Obi Wan had a great ending ;)

And yeah, very underrated. Thanks for the legs, Darth.

I know im late on this one, but I felt the need to express my annoyance with the new movies.

You know I was watching the old star wars again recently, and the way they used models for the star destroyers and other star fighters looked SOOO much more real. Why the hell would they want to use CGI for them when it looks so obvious that its computer generated.

And yea I was very annoyed with the way they made yoda say everything bassackwards. He never said anything that way in the old one. And they shouldnt have used CGI on him the whole movie. Sure they cant make a puppet have a lightsaber battle and make it look real. But dont make him animated through the whole movie, even when hes just sitting in a chair the whole scene.
