Will there be another Star Wars?

I was the biggest Star Wars fan around and saw Episodes I-III all on opening day, anyone know if indeed George Lucas is finished with it, or if, fingers crossed, he will maybe do one or two more? He seemed to be releasing Episodes I-III, in spurts of 3 years (99, 02, and 05) and seeing how its 2008 it would be right on schedule, but I think we would have heard something by now if he was going to release one this year. And he loves mid May Episodes I-III all were released like on May 19th or something, so its probably not going to happen.

People constantly rag on Episodes I-III but I loved them. To me Lucas can do no wrong. American Graffiti was great and so were all 6 Star Wars films. Maybe he made a misstep with Jar Jar but overall I don’t think I-III were all that bad.

hes butchered the series enough already as it is... theres a lot of books out there that would translate well to another trilogy that follows IV-VI but id honestly prefer they leave star wars alone... another 3 would be the only way to go... adding just 1 or 2 wouldnt be as good... and lucas would probably be opposed to starting at this point since hes kindof old and wouldnt wanna die with unfinished work... then again, i didnt think there was a need for another indiana jones (though ill admit im excited for it)

god... if they had casted anyone other than haden christensen for that role those movies couldve been so much stronger... and if lucas hadnt gone so overboard with the special effects... when did jedi become fuckin tazmanian devils? why was the technology more advanced in the past? why couldnt lucas write a half decent script when he had the advantage of working backwards??

no hes not doing anymore star wars movies. but there will be animated series stuff, possibly a movie with that, and there was talks of a live action tv show

    and found this

"George Lucas is currently preparing another series of Clone Wars -- the popular Star Wars animated series. In addition, Lucas will make two more live-action films set in everyone's favorite galaxy far, far away. These films will likely be an hour each, and will air on television, though he doesn't know on what channel (The Sci-Fi network?). Says Lucas of the films, "they won't have members of the Skywalker family as characters. They will be other people of that milieu."

well im not sure that the technology was more advanced in the starwars past. remember it was the emperor who got ahold of the clone technology after all the surviving jedi had to go into exile.
honestly if obi wan was more of a competant jedi he could have defeated anakin on his own merits. yeah yeah i know thats not how the story goes but...
it just grates on me that the most feared man in the galaxy was such a weak minded character.
when obi wan berates anakin during their big fight scene and yells, you were the chosen one, i just about choked on my popcorn. anakin was never the chosen one. but of course i had the advantage of being aware of luke skywalker, didn't i. ;):D

ya know what bugs me... i was just watching return of the jedi awhile ago and was pissed off about all those pointless scenes lucas added when they rereleased them in theaters... and adding hayden in as a ghost at the end... fuckin stupid... i understand touching up the old effects but anything else is overboard... i wouldve liked for them to film the newer ones with models like the old days... call me old fashioned

i remember sitting in the cinema(i can't remember what ep it was. i guess it was phantom menace) and these two guys behind me said after the credits rolled, they didnt tell you who played darth sidious. i laughed to myself and almost turned around and told them who darth sidious was. but i just smiled at their ignorance and walked out.

i've not seen that version. and now that youve brought it to my attention i dont think i will. i hate when he fucks with them too. tis a bit like when senor spielbergo changed the guns to walkie talkies when he jazzed up ET.
but about the ghost of anakin being christiansen. it doesnt really make sense cause luke never knew 'anakin'. he only saw his father when he was old, so replacing sebastian shaw with hayden christiansen lacked logic and continuity, if thats what lucas did (did he?). remember ive not seen the version you speak of. can you clue me in, please. :)

yup... part at the end during the ewok celebration when luke sees the ghosts of yoda, ben, and anakin they replaced old anakin with christensen anakin... your right... makes no sense... if i were luke id be like... WTF?

theres also an extended dance/song number inside jabas palace (GAY)... and a shot of naboo celebrating at the end... and a few other small changes

I think Lucas should make another one--and soon while Harrison Ford, Carrie Fischer, and Mark Hamilton are still around. I don't think that Hayden Christenson was a mistake. I thought him and Padme' had chemistry going on. I think that people love to see family generations continue on and on. Why not keep it going. I really don't think it would lessen how awesome the original trilogy was.

amidala must have been blind with love, cause had i been her i would have felt the need to slap anakin on more than one occasion. especially when he whined about obi wan holding him back. wah wah cry me a river you big baby.

MSN had an article right after EP3 was out that he was making an Episode 0 about Yoda. That is the only time I ever heard that.
Lucas said he won't do 7-9.

Episode 0, I never heard anything about that? A little back story on Yoda sounds pretty interesting, definitely better than EP 7-9, what would they even be about?

Eh, this is more or less what I heard only these people refer to it as episode 7.

Was he though? I think we can all agree that Christenson did a poor job with much of the acting, but he also had some terrible lines to work with. "My heart is beating... hoping that kiss will not become a scar." But how do you define Anakin as weak-minded? He was clearly a skilled Jedi but because he started his training so late in life he had attachments to other people: his mother, his home, Padme, etc. He was emotional, and it was his downfall. We saw a lot of this in Luke as well. It's part of the story arc. You can look at the entire 6-movie series as The Tragedy of Anakin Skywalker and it works pretty well. At least until Jar-Jar and the stupid new CGI scenes in Ep IV get in the way.

I think the mistake with Anakin was they left it too late with the buiding up of hatred. The way they presented it made it sound almost like an overnight impatient little brat. There wasn't enough build up to make it believable. Making it such a dishonourable change didn't help things either. The problem was definitely with the scriptwriters, not with the actors.

7-9 would be stupid. There's a clear story between 1-6, it has a beginning a middle and an end. How the hell will they continue it? Ruining the happy ending would drag it out too long. All there is left to tell is Yoda's story and what happened between 3 and 4. After that they should leave it to the geeks who write the books.

    What should he do differently?

He butchered the Mos Eisley scenes with all these distracting new CGI things, even adding loud noises and grunts over the existing dialogue. That scene was already memorable (with the "These aren't the droids you're looking for" exchange) and now there's a freakin' beast in the background tossing a jawa around.

And don't get me started on the Greedo thing.

I would watch another 3 of them, taking place after Return of the Jedi, but I must admit I was disappointed with 1 and 2. 3 wasnt that bad. 5 and 6 rank up there with the great movies of all time.

the first one got waaaaaaaaaaaaay to gay with the whole speed racing bullshit. it was like, ok, we got it, that is where he developed his skills to become a great pilot, now lets move on.

I would like to see Luke as a bad ass mofo. It is his destiny to join the dark side after all, right?

    I now feel nerdy.
