it just grates on me that the most feared man in the galaxy was such a weak minded character.
Was he though? I think we can all agree that Christenson did a poor job with much of the acting, but he also had some terrible lines to work with. "My heart is beating... hoping that kiss will not become a scar." But how do you define Anakin as weak-minded? He was clearly a skilled Jedi but because he started his training so late in life he had attachments to other people: his mother, his home, Padme, etc. He was emotional, and it was his downfall. We saw a lot of this in Luke as well. It's part of the story arc. You can look at the entire 6-movie series as The Tragedy of Anakin Skywalker and it works pretty well. At least until Jar-Jar and the stupid new CGI scenes in Ep IV get in the way.
It is time to admit that we used to rock like hurricanes. It is time to run for the hills and go round and round. It is time for us to shout at the devil. We've got the right to choose it, there ain't no way we'll lose it, and we're not gonna take it anymore.

I think the mistake with Anakin was they left it too late with the buiding up of hatred. The way they presented it made it sound almost like an overnight impatient little brat. There wasn't enough build up to make it believable. Making it such a dishonourable change didn't help things either. The problem was definitely with the scriptwriters, not with the actors.

7-9 would be stupid. There's a clear story between 1-6, it has a beginning a middle and an end. How the hell will they continue it? Ruining the happy ending would drag it out too long. All there is left to tell is Yoda's story and what happened between 3 and 4. After that they should leave it to the geeks who write the books.

    What should he do differently?

He butchered the Mos Eisley scenes with all these distracting new CGI things, even adding loud noises and grunts over the existing dialogue. That scene was already memorable (with the "These aren't the droids you're looking for" exchange) and now there's a freakin' beast in the background tossing a jawa around.

And don't get me started on the Greedo thing.

I would watch another 3 of them, taking place after Return of the Jedi, but I must admit I was disappointed with 1 and 2. 3 wasnt that bad. 5 and 6 rank up there with the great movies of all time.

the first one got waaaaaaaaaaaaay to gay with the whole speed racing bullshit. it was like, ok, we got it, that is where he developed his skills to become a great pilot, now lets move on.

I would like to see Luke as a bad ass mofo. It is his destiny to join the dark side after all, right?

    I now feel nerdy.

I am still not sure why dude was busting, but whatever. If that idea is widely thrown around, sorry for not knowing that. I guess that makes me lame. I dont read the books, I only watched the movies. I dont belong to the Star Wars chat rooms either.

May the force be with you.

I got it now. I just missed the sarcasm. Of course, the wrinkled old bastard told him it was his destiny. He also told Luke he was about to die. Wrong on both counts, as he learned to his sorrow.

I remember a long time ago (late 70s early 80s) that there was an offshoot book series about Han Solo. Like Frasier is to Cheers, Han Solo could have been to Star Wars. :)

If this series was to ever make it to film today, who would you cast as Han?
I love to turn you on

GL said no new movies, but he is working on an animated tv series right now, and there will be a live action weekly series that will last 100 episodes, that take place between episonde III and IV but not have any main characters in it. rumor is that it will follow boba fett.

    just google it.

    or go to http://www.theforce.net

not to keep harping, but Luke did everything Darth Vader did, and they mention its his destiny, a few times....vader in Emprie says it, emperor in return says it, luke even says it, etc...

training shortcuts with yoda. using emotion instead of rational thought.

I still think it would be awesome to see him take over the universe as a bad guy, only to have jar jar and c3p0 take his ass down in episode 77 in the final scene by way of way too much karate kicks.

Maybe C3PO can get jets this time?

In the books he went evil for a while but I forget why (cause I didn't read 'em). He went good again, either way.
