I'm kind of surprised that no one has brought up the idea of reporting the OP to Kat and/or Sea & saying there's potential child pornography being downloaded through the DSL line.

My brother's a lawyer, the situation is, actually black & white. If it is child porn and is coming through your cable, you can be charged. Not him.

They will take your house. It's no joke. Why you've waited this long to do something about it is rather spineless.

All this guy has to do is say the porn is not his... He could blame the OP...

Then the police search search your home, which won't be pretty, then they arrest you if they find the porn, then it's all turned over to the Feds since it's a federal offense

Chances are, if he's downloading child porn off the Internet the Feds already know about it since they already have an entire agency dedicated to Internet child pornography anyway and also ... Almost all child pornography originates from outside the US jurisdictions.

It is your IP address, your name. If he is caught by the police or FBI, YOUR name along with his will be placed in a sex file and you and your family will be stigmatized forever. You and your wife maybe even be require to register as a sex offender if the police or FBI does not believe your story. See you now know he is doing something illegal in your home so you can't pretend you didn't 'think he was that type of person' if something were to happen to a neighborhood child.

A person can stumble upon a child porn site and move on. For you to see pictures, he had to register, pay and download it, that means he is into this sick shit and that places you and your family in jeopardy. No matter how you decide to handle this problem, you do need to handle it quickly and have all the material removed from your home immediately.

This one is a pretty reputable journal, and the article itself is a of a high standard. This paper in particular shows that of the perpetrators involved in the study, 35% of them reported themselves as being victims of abuse in childhood. While this number is significant, it isn't the majority.

to everyone who is saying to permanently delete it: I thought it's not permanently gone, it can be recovered. Also, a lawyer told me that whenever google something, there is a record of it. He said you can smash your hard drive and send it into space, but everything you searched on is kept on file. So everything he searched on is kept on file. I would make him leave. I think if you do not turn him in, you are an accessory. Wipe your finger prints off of his computer.

Even if this guy never acted on it and abused a child, child pornography is illegal all over the world and needs to be stopped. If there's no demand for it, there's no need to supply it. This guy looking at that kind of stuff helps to create the demand for it. This isn't just about the safety of the children he might potentially molest, it's about the safety of the children who are forced to pose/perform in this kind of pornography...... those kids are being hurt too. :(

That's what I was thinking...whatever the OP decides to do, he needs to do it quickly...
Coming on the internet and telling everyone these files were in your house before talking to a lawyer was probably not a good idea....There are thousands of people that read this site...I'm sure there are more than a couple cops.... I'm sure there is a way for them to trace your IP back to your house after reading this thread...
