They didn't play the best ball in Philly, but I'll take a 4-2 road trip. Now it's back home for Dusty's return, Pittsburgh, and NY. No reason not to have a good homestand!!!

Can't the Cubs ever win a game without extra innings?.. ;)

Nice win last night. Not a great game by Dempster but good enough to get the win and keep us in the game. D Lee is on fire. Call me crazy but I almost thing we were better off, without Soriano in the lineup. I hope he's not out long, but maybe he wouldn't have got hurt if he didn't do his stupid show boat hop.

Maybe not better off, but I'd be a complete hypocrite if I accepted and liked Soriano after he pulled the same shit that drove me to hate Sosa. Telling a manager where he bats in the lineup is unacceptable. That's the managers job and as a player UNDER him, you accept it. Also, I do find it fitting he got hurt doing his lame ass show boat hop. Maybe he will learn his lesson. Mark my word, as a Cubs fan I hate to say this, but at some point if he continues that hop, I've got a bad felling it's gonna cause an error in a very important situation.

It is a good tiem for Soriano to get hurt since he is not hitting. We will need his bat in the long run.

I think he should be batting 4th or 5th. Put Fuk in the 2nd spot with his high OBP.

Soriano will have leg problems this season and fuk has some speed.

The Theriot and Fontenot 1-2 punch is nice but it was for a bit last year then the scouts cought up with Fontenot and learned how to shut him down.

I like Reed Johnson. He can fill in for Soriano but Derosa does not look bad in left. You got to love a guy that will play anywhere you ask him to and be happy about it.

Fukudome is a perfect number 5 hitter for us, specifically because we need his left hand bat to protect Aramis. Aramis will have a huge year now that he finally has a good Left Hand bat behind him. Here is the way our lineup should look once Soriano returns:

    Reed Johnson
    Ryan Theriot
    D Lee
    Aramis Ramirez
    Fukudome
    Carlos Zambrano
    Soriano
    Mark DeRosa
    Geovany Soto

;) Btw... FREAKIN' AWESOME to see Felix Pie get a HR tonight. I know everyone gets down on him but I gotta root for the kid. Once Reed Johnson slows down (which he will) maybe Felix can get some starts in CF.

There are some teams (Brewers, Cardinals, White Sox) that it's always good to beat, and the Mets are one of those teams. Nice win last night. Let's get the 2 game sweep and finish a 7-1 homestand.

I like that line up and agree that the left handed bat is needed in themiddle of the lineup. Fuk can have some great at bats and the sooner he bats the opposing pitcher may use up all of his pitches.

I just think we need him in front of our HR hitters. If Soriano is behind him that is good.

Johnson is good at lead off. I like Pie and want him to be great but he swings for the fences too much. He needs to become our leadoff hitter so we can use his speed.

77 wins to 90. No looking back. We shoudl stay in first all year. Let hope Lilly starts pitching better today.

    GO CUBS!

CUBS ARE ON FIRE!!! Yeah it's April but I'll take it. Cedeno is killing the ball. This team is killing the ball and scoring like crazy without Sorinao, which makes me hope when he comes back he is NOT put back at leadoff.

Oh burn Cubs fans...Kosuke is now my favorite Cub of all time.

    Cubs Flap

Somebody thought the Cubs' signing of Kosuke Fukudome was a great way to make a buck. But the altered design of the team's encircled bear logo hasn't made the Japanese outfielder feel very welcome.

The bear on the T-shirt has been modified to include stereotypically slanted eyes behind Harry Carray's giant glasses. The former announcer's catch phrase is altered from "holy cow" to "horry kow," mocking a Japanese accent.

"I don't know what the creator of the shirt meant this to be, but they should make it right,'' Fukudome told the media through his interpreter after being shown one of the shirts Thursday. ''Maybe the creator created it because he thought it was funny, or maybe he made it to condescend the race. I don't know.

"Regardless, it's not funny," Fukudome continued. "The image feeds not only ugly, arrogant and ignorant Japanese stereotypes, but also the stereotype of the obnoxious, profane, drunken, booing, garbage-throwing Cubs fan."

I have not seen this shirt but Harry always had the slanted eyes on the patch from 98.

Still not right but I have seen some pretty tasteless shirts outside of both Wrigley and Comiskey. People make money from it so they do it.

he is definitely old school. leaning in to get hit by pitches, hustling every play, even his style with the stirrups up to the knees. plus his favorite player ever is Ty Cobb. He's got my vote for everyday CF.

His catch Friday night was the catch of the year so far, unreal!! Hopefully we don't pull the stupidest move ever and drop him out of the leadoff spot when Soriano comes back.

Agreed. I love watching that guy play. Gritty, hardworking, doesn't complain...just goes out there and gives it his best.
