That catch has nothing on Reed Johnsons catch earlier in the year. I was watching the game with a cards fan and I told him Felix Pie would have been sitting under that ball. Heehee!!!
I could not beleive I was cheering for Edmonds.

Not only should he have caught that first ball (that wasn't a homerun but called one) but that last one was just pathetic!
I can only imagine the reaction Ron Santo had to that (I wonder if it was anything like Brant Brown's drop back in the day...).
My god he's terrible!
If that kind of thing happens again (especially at home) I think everyone in the stands wearing a Soriano jersey should take them off and throw them on the field in left. Or just start a Soriano jersey bonfire on Waveland Ave.

Completely agree. I'm going to the game June 1st vs. COL and I'm booing his ass when he comes up. If anyone at Wrigley cheers for him when he comes up to bat today they are idiots.

CARACAS, Venezuela -- Former major league pitcher Geremi Gonzalez, who won 11 games for the Chicago Cubs in 1997, was killed by a lightning strike in his native Venezuela on Sunday. He was 33.
Geremi Gonzalez pitched for five major league teams and compiled a 30-35 career record.
Emergency management official Herman Bracho said Monday that Gonzalez was struck by lightning at a beach.
On Monday, Cubs general manager Jim Hendry spoke fondly of Gonzalez.
"The Chicago Cubs are very saddened today to learn of Geremi Gonzalez's sudden passing. Geremi began his career as a Cub, leading our pitching staff with 11 wins as a rookie in 1997 and, despite an arm injury, helping the club early in the season a year later to an eventual postseason appearance. The organization sends its heartfelt condolences to his family."
Gonzalez pitched for five major league teams from 1997-2006. The right-hander appeared in 131 games with 83 starts, compiling a 30-35 record.
Gonzalez also played for the Tampa Bay Rays, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers. He made a combined 24 appearances for the Mets and Brewers in his final major league season in 2006.
Gonzalez played for current Cubs manager Lou Piniella in Tampa Bay and was on the mound when Sammy Sosa's corked bat exploded in a game at Wrigley Field on June 3, 2003.
"That's a tragic thing," Piniella said. "He was a nice young man. He was a competitive kid, really good natured. It's a shame, it really is. I liked him a lot."
Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, a fellow Venezuelan, expressed his feeling before a game in Cleveland.
"It's sad," Guillen said. "A lot of people are going to be shocked. He was a good man. He had a lot of ups and downs in his career. He was 33. It was so early in his life to die. I wish the best to his family. The news went around the country pretty fast."
Brewers manager Ned Yost expressed similar feelings.
"He was so much fun to be around. He was always happy, always smiling," Yost said. "He was a guy that could scare real easy and then horse laugh. He was just one of those guys that when he saw you, he always had a smile on his face."
The Toronto Blue Jays released him during spring training last year. Gonzalez then moved to Japan and pitched in five games for the Yomiuri Giants.

We should have one that game but if Soriano did not hit a homerun we would not have been close enough to win.
Yeah, he could be better in Left but he has been on fire at the plate. We need his bat if we expect to win this year. Maybe he should be getting pulled late in games for a defensive replacement.

Huge win, great comeback tonight!! It was especially sweet after the BS I had to go through to watch the game. I had softball at 6:15, games over about 7:15, we go to the bar near the park that sponsors us (keep in mind I'm in Milwaukee). We get into the bar and the Cubs are on tv (ESPN HD) sweet!! A guy at the bar sees me walk in with a cubs hat and says to one of my teammates, who brought him, fair enough. He asks them to put the Brewers game on and since we are in Milwaukee I'd expect them too, but they do have 6 tv's so they leave the Cubs game on the small corner tv where me and my buddy who are cubs fans can watch it, and the brewers game on the main tv with sound, fine, no problem, everyone is happy.
The waitress comes over and seeing how it's in the 4th inning my buddy and I get 2 pitchers and order a pizza, and he puts it all on his credit card. They run the card, bring it back to him, he signs for it, and we get our pitchers. Shortly thereafter some guy at the bar (brewers fan whom I've never met) complains that the cubs game is on, so they turn the tv we were watchin to the brewers game so now all 6 tv's have the brewers game on, pretty pointless. We explain to the bartender that we were watching the cubs game and we only want it on 1 tv. Their response was someone wanted it on another tv in the bar, besides the ones it was on. I replied, can we just get the cubs game on any 1 tv in the bar, and they told me if I wanted to watch the cubs i'd have to go to another bar. The guy at the bar who complained yell's for me to go to IL (i've lived in WI my whole life and am damn proud to be a cubs fan too) and his fat (big shocker) girlfriend tells me guess your gonna have to go somewhere else to watch the cubs.
Obviously I was pissed. Mainly because they knew we were watching the cubs game (both of us were wearing cubs gear), ran our card, and then turned it off on us. Complete disrespect to paying customers. I wanted to go off, and get in the guy and his fat girlfriend at the bars face but I decided to be the bigger person. I handed my buddy my portion of the bill, told me teammates this was BS and left. Got home and watched the game without any assholes in 46 inch HD, and got to see a great comeback!!
I know I live in Milwaukee and people in Milwaukee hate the cubs and cubs fans, but seriously, grow up. You got to watch your team, I was watching mine in a corner, what's the problem? No need to be an ahole to someone you don't know. Sad thing is I was paying more attention to the Cubs game than anyone in the bar was to the Brewers game. Another sad thing is those Brewers fans could have learned a thing or two from watching the Cubs game. One, how a team plays baseball, and two, how fans support their team.
Nice win for the Cubs, and have fun in the bottom of the divion Milwaukee!! GO CUBS!!!

I would expect to be treated the same way if I was in a bar in Chicago and wearing my Brewer's cap. Last year I had my Brewers cap on while at Lolla. Took alot of shit from people but I dished it right back at them.
I don't agree with the way you were treated let me make that clear. It sounds like you were in a shity local's only bar. If I was one of your teammates I would have said something to the bartender. That does suck.
But don't label all Brewers fans the same just because of those stupid fucks at that bar. Of course I could and have done the same thing on here comparing Cub fans as assholes. But I know there some of you are nice.

I was actually looking for the audio of Santo's reaction to Brant Brown, so if anyone has it, let me know.
Santo was pretty funny after Soriano botched that catch, but it was nothing compared to his call on the Brant Brown flub.
"I need honesty, I need truth, and I need hope...I need it! That's what music means to me." EV

Oh I know. Most of my teammates are Brewers fans and their all cool. Just wasn't looking for or needed any trouble, so I just left. Probably a good decision.
