London is a weird and wonderful place. At times it grinds you down, sometimes it inspires. But my area is a craphole. I love it and have lived here all my life, but its got progressively shittier here over the past decade.

I just built a house last year and love it. It's not totally finished yet, but it's more than I could have ever asked for. I live within an hour of boston, providence, hartford, springfield, worcester, new haven, but in a small new england colonial town. and within 1 1/2 hour of the ocean. hot summers, cold winters, spring fever, cool fall tailgating days, and I make the most out of it.

nope - brrrr it was cold this morning! I think it was in the low 60's!! but the sun was out - it just wasn't working...I am hoping that the temp doesnt turn up too much tho - since that would mean another red flag alert. :(

I'm located in Ottawa for school, LOVE it here, but I hate the stupid student house I'm living in. Still the city and the university make it soooooo worth it. The Ottawa Locks and Parliament Hill are just breathtaking and I love being 15 minutes away from them.
At home, I'm on a horse farm about an hour north of Toronto, which I also love. It's more our house, barn, property and the animals that I love than the actual location. Alliston's not too exciting other than our little bohemian coffee shop, but the farm is heaven and I'm really not that far from Toronto, so I can't complain.
Overall, give me the farm IN Ottawa and I'd be living in paradise.

I normally live in the cotswolds in semi-rural england but at the moment I am at university in London. I never thought I would miss home, thinking it was so boring and the people were all the same. I thought I was a city guy stuck in the country. Turns out I miss home. I don't know if it's for the people or the place. I miss nature, stuck in south london is a fucking ugly concrete jungle. It's nice to be near actual places and actual people but I miss the laidback attitude. I can't wait til christmas when I get to go home. I haven't seen an open stretch of grass for a month. If it wasn't for my friends here I think I'd probably leave.

i do, born and raised in the bay area. perfect weather and so many things to do and beautiful places to visit. i'd be miserable if i lived somewhere remote!

i love, love, love where i live! i despise the exhorbitant property taxes :mad:...but otherwise, pretty damn near perfect for me/us! i adore our little home, and it's location. about 45 minutes by car or train right into NYC...so VERY close, yet still enough *space*....have ocean within 15-20 minutes drive north or south...city west......and farms/vineyards/hamptons out east. we are 'built up' enough that we have our own excellent eateries.....great shopping, movie theatres, historic homs/gardens/museums/attractions, etc....but so close to the city can commute daily to work - house is walking distance to the train station, or pop in for shows/dinner/socializing....i adore it. also, an excellent hub to live for travel abroad, particularly europe, so many flights/choices. born and raised here and plan to stay.
I'm going to have to say no to that question. I really dislike Syracuse. It's cold and grimy. Slightly depressing. The city is icky. Basketball good, but the snow SUCKS! Taxes? EWWW!

I grew up 45 miles east of Syracuse and totally understand your feelings on the place. I thought Syracuse would be the place I eventually moved to when I got older. Funny, I moved to California! I do miss the snow and the quaintness of Upstate NY. California is crazy and I'm ready to leave in the next few years.

I live in a 300 square foot apartment in the heart of Lincoln Park, Chicago and I think I'm happier here than I would be in a mansion anywhere else in the world..
you probly don't live far from me. im on the south end of lakeview, all but in lincoln park. love living here. the apartment im in now is also the nicest one i've ever lived in. i love it. winter can be tough though. i'd love to live in ireland or seattle or san fran... somewhere that's pretty much temperate year-round.
I loved it when I lived down in SW Florida (Fort Myers). We were 10 minutes from the beach, tons of golf courses and good old sunshine all the time. We only lived there for 6 months but want to make the move back down there possibly as early as July '08. We're looking at the Fort Myers/Estero/Naples area specifically. My college roommate and his wife are from that area so it will be nice to have people we know down there. I really want to move. Sure, it's more expensive down there but the housing bubble has burst and it's much cheaper than it was 2 years ago when we moved down there. That was a big factor in us moving back here.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

Unfortunately, I also love houses. Seriously, my husband says they are like my porn. But, to live near downtown, I will have to settle with living in apartments or a condo. The array of bars make for an easier adjustment.
