My father-in-law hit him with the car the day after our wedding reception. He didn't really get hurt too bad. He's been with us ever since. I wanted to name him Marty because PissBottleWoman's dad hit him with the car (Back to the Future reference).
This picture was from 2003. Clifford is a little bigger now.

*Those ADIDAS you see in the background Clifford ate several days later.

my dog was being a little shit this morning. I took him out, and he got tangled in some bushes and slipped out of his collar and proceeded to take off.
I chased him around 5 backyards (none of them mine) in flannel pajama pants, a tshirt and no bra, barefoot, my hair a mess and mascara smeared on my face. but, I went after him none-the-less. he finally crawled behind some evergreen trees lining this fence where there are usually 3 very large dogs penned up.... but thankfully i guess they were in the house... I was crying because I was so afraid he was going to try and run across the highway behind my house and I didn't want him getting hit by a car...
I picked Stoney up, who weighs about 80 pounds and is solid as a rock... and carried him across 3 backyards... it felt like I was walking from here to California... my pants were falling and my arms were aching, and Stoney looks up at me and kisses my cheek.
OMG! I can TOTALLY relate!!! The other day Sophie (my yellow lab) decided to take a run around the neighborhood. I got to chase her around barefoot into various people's yards. It was so much fun :(
This is the greatest band in the world -- Ben Harper
And was he run over because
he ate the wedding ring?
No, that came later. He's something else. All of are pets are one's we've rescued or taken in.
We found our dog Reece outside during a snow storm. He had frostbite on his belly and staples in his groin from being neutered (in September!!!!--We got him in December). He's owner didn't give a rat's ass that he had run off. We told him not to bother picking him up because we were keeping him.
Sorry, I don't have a picture of him scanned in yet.

hey sen... what an awesome thread! I can't believe I just found it... I just had to contribute... our little buddies are Chase and Sasha... both adpopted, Chase is 9 yrs. old and Sasha is 5yrs. old... can't imagine life without them! I also stuck in a pic of my dad and stepmom's little Pebbles... they adopted her this year:
I have dreams of quitting this rat race and opening up a self-serve dog wash and gift shop! I've done the research... haven't figured out the money part yet...
all the pictures are just awesome... they so give so much more than they take, don't they?

Chase looks suspicious of your motives with that camera , and Sasha smiles with all her teeth too cute. Pebbles is a cutie as well! Good lookin family you got there!

He does look a little suspicious, doesn't he? Sasha's underbite gives her that winning smile all the time... at halloween, the kids always say she looks like a bat... too funny!
So sorry about your little Duffy... 16 years is pretty great... what a cutie! I like to think that our pets come back to us over and over in our lifetime. My husband is constantly calling Chase, "Pharoah" (his childhood dog).
He says even some of the mannerisms are the same... who knows, I like to believe it!
I just had to ask, what kind of dog is Chloe? Our dog Chase is a rescue so we have no idea what mix of breeds he is, but, Chloe looks just like him, but with shorter hair. Everyone seems to have an opinion, but Chloe is the first I've seen with almost the exact same coloring:

chloe is a german shorthair pointer mix.
adopted from the local animal shelter.
she *IS* a total beauty, with such a regal way about her....defies her humble beginnings. she may have been abused as a small pup :(...or so we were told, b/c she had some injuries, poor baby. however, now she lives the life of a queen as she so rightly deserves.
Damn, I just found this thread! My two little Beagles are my buddies. Penny is 4 years old and Peanut is 3. They are attached at the hip most of the time, and keep my little daughter entertained as they run around the house together. Here's the picture I have of them at work here:
Penny is the one standing on her back legs. She is the brains of the operation. Poor Peanut got shorted in that department! Just ignore the car above them...it's another picture I scanned at the same time for my Dad. Great thread!

they all deserve that, don't they! they told us chase was rescued from a local pound after he had licked some bleach or other cleaner off the walls and got really sick... the rescue group took him in and nursed him back to health and we adopted him his first week out... lucky us!

Yep, that sounds like a Beagle. That's why we had to get a second one. Another dog to pal around with.
PissBottleWoman is into greyhound rescue. We don't have one, she supports the cause.
She produces the news here in Paducah. When she did the Mid-Day Show, she made it a point to incorporate the "Humane Society Dog of the Day". She's gone on to the 5:00 show, but they still do that at Mid-Day.

Yes, all 4 that we have owned have been rescues. Greyhounds are badass dogs; very misunderstood by most people. We have also fostered greys waiting for new homes.
So cool that PBW is into greyhound rescues, too. The more I learn, the more I think she and I are kindred spirits! And I LOVE it when news programs have some sort of dog spot. It's a great way to get those babies adopted quickly!
