I've been thinking about how each of our dogs has always developed some funny quirk that the others didn't do. Pete wagged his tail in a circle instead of from side to side. When he was excited, Django had a hilarious bark that sounded like Curly from the Three Stooges. Penny likes to dance and lifts her front feet, left-right-left-right. Scout has developed a regular routine in the morning before I leave for work. He comes in the bedroom and rolls on his back, usually chewing on a toy at the same time, making growly noises. I have to stop and rub his tummy. Every morning at the same time, we go through this.

I totally agree with your observation. All of our dogs have been quirky...and Piper is no exception. In general, Piper tears up all of her toys but she has ONE that has escaped unscathed. It is her yellow bunny and it's not really a dog toy but rather a kid's stuffed animal. Piper chews on her yellow bunny, but not aggressively. And while she's gently chewing, her paws always move as is she's kneading something. It all looks very relaxing.

P.S. Piper got a bath on Friday

It looks like she was posing for you.

I think our pets are like people - different personalities, idiosyncrasies, etc. But having more than one, their habits and quirks can rub off on the other(s).

Bottom line, Piper is pretty freakin' cute.

I'm guessing you're in Mammoth - do you remember when they had some rock and roll music festival there in the summer? '80s. Or maybe you're too young...

She is a Lab retriever cross, hence the stick love. I don't even need a leash, just hold a stick and act like I might throw it and she never leaves my side. She is huge and smells swampy much of the time, I'm gonna shave her this weekend, it helps somewhat.

  • Hey guys, just found out our dog has cancer. He's a 7 year old white boxer named Guinness. I am shook up, he's my best friend. Hoping for a good outcome though. He's going into surgery today to remove two mast cell tumors (one on his left paw and one attached to his aorta, so this is a big surgery.) We had to come up with 10 grand up front so I started a Go Fund Me. Any funds raised will go towards Guinness' bills. Any thing left over is getting donated via Pay Pal (with proof of receipt) to the second chance boxer rescue (www.secondchanceboxer.com) any good vibes or prayers you can send are GREATLY appreciated. If you'd like to donate or share the go fund me link it's www.gofundme.com/guinnessfight thank you guys so much!!! "Keep on Rockin" -Jim

  • Sadly, we just got word that there is nothing they can do for Guinness. Operating on him is out of the question because the mast is too far in his valve. So they said to make him as comfortable as possible, they didn't give us a time line. We want to thank everyone for your prayers, love and donations for Guinness. The money raised will go toward the CT scan (that was $1,500 anything raised over the $1,500 will go straight to the second chance boxer rescue.) Thanks again everyone - Jim and Cara

Really sorry to hear this. We lost 2 boxer mixes last year to mast cell tumors and it was devastating. I hope you cherish the time you have left with Guinness and that he is calm, comfortable and at peace.

    Hey Jim-

very sad about Guinness. We had a golden that got mast cell at a year and a half old. She was treated with chemo and a drug called palladia. I would say she beat it.....but then she got lymphoma before she was five. she was getting chemo for that when she got mast cell in a different area. she had surgery for that before it spread. the lymphoma "got her" at five and a half years :bawling: it sucks, I know. hopefully you can keep guinness comfortable for the time he has left.

    Rob

P.S. boxers and goldens are among the most cancer prone dogs.

Very sorry to hear about Guinness. We have a cat who doesn't have much time left and we are making sure she is petted and pampered and well fed - being a cat she really doesn't seem to care all that much - but I'm sure Guinness knows he's very loved.
