and chloe's nails aren't that long now, obviously she was in great need at the time. she probably could do for a trim now too, but it'll wait until her grooming in january.

    yes, she was.
she has such a sad face, doesn't she?
igby is the only pet we've ever bought/purebred...all all other dogs and cats have been rescues.
chloe might've been abused as a small pup, she had puncture wounds as a little puppy that the shelter was unsure how they came about. :( so she was always a very shy/timid dog. then she was terrorized by our other dog, phoebe....such a heart-breaking story all the way round for us all there. however, at this point with chloe in 'top-dog' status and with such a little lovey brother, she has come into her own soooo much more, and is so much more affectionate too - so finally, a win-win situation! :D

That's great that you rescued her ... not sure why, but, I could just tell by the eyes.

    She looks adorably sweet.

Thanks, everybody, for expressing that so well.

Still marveling, D2D, that even as cute as Igby is, you find a need to take a picture of his butt. :eh: :lolno:

she's the 4th dog we've gotten from the shelter, my mom had two from the same place and we've had about 5 cats from the same shelter over the years as well. suki, the kitty i posted earlier, is also a rescue and she just turned 20 back in september!

and chloe IS the sweetest dog, and sooooo compliant. crazy smart too, but is more focused on pleasing you/doing as she's told. we are pretty lazy with the training, but when we did embrace it, she was unbelievably good, quick learner, and you could always tell she was so proud of herself. :D if only her compliant and smart nature would rub off on igby. ;)

whoprinces.....idk really. camera was in hand, and it was just *there*...and from a compositional standpoint, it's a great shot, butthole or not.

i just thought it was funny.

Well, if my dogs didn't have such fuzzy butts I might have some similar shots of Penny. She doesn't like cameras and I don't know why. It's hard to take her picture unless she's busy playing or asleep. I reach for the camera and she runs away. One of her many "issues"!
She is also a rescue and there are some really weird things that bother her. If I pick up a tube of hand lotion, she will slink out of the room and won't come near me for an hour or so. :? :wtf:

    PRAYERS NEEDED FOR MY PETEY

Over the weekend I rented a Holter Monitor to check Petey's heart for 24 hours. Around 70% of male Dobermans die from DCM. It is suggested as part of a yearly check up to do a EKG, Holter and Echo on their hearts. Petey's Holter came back really bad. I had a vet friend read it last night, now need to get it to my vet and then we have to find a Cardiologist. I am physically sick over this news, trying not to worry until we see the specialist and get an Echo. You guys seem to have amazing powers, Please keep my sweet heart in your prayers and thoughts.

You KNOW I'm there (here) for you, Carol!! You've been one of my greatest comforts when dealing with my own Shelby/Gracie issues.

I'm going to hope that you don't know what the hell you're doing with that Holter thing and that it's a case of operator error ;) . I'm waiting for good news. Keep us posted!
