Why am I watching this game? Seriously, nobody can tell me that they have seen an entertaining Wings game in at least 15 years. No retaliation. No aggression. No edge. Just 100% disciplined play and power play after power play. It's dreadful to watch. Even the players are bored. I saw Lidstrom reading a make-your-own barrel sauna book on the bench to pass the time.

Are you going to tell me that you enjoyed that game tonight? It was fucking HORRIBLE. Worse than even I expected that it could be.

True what you say, This game was fucking horrible, as was it's predecessor, but that was the penguins fault, not the red wings. Come on penguins, gonna have to wake up at home. Do it for the wild fans.

    Let's go penguins.

Hmm. It must be me then. I can't stand watching powerplay hockey and I really can't stand unemotional hockey. Detroit's game will result in wins, but good god is it boring to watch. I didn't realize that the soccer-hockey game became fun to watch. I must be getting old.

  • Man, as a pens fan this is brutal. I guess the western conference is way better than the east because the pens looked unbeatable until now.
I had the whole positive vibe going for this, saying now they know the red wings style, but after 2 games it just looks like the red wings are clearly the better team.

What are you expecting them to do, take retarded penalties, or throw dirty hits that might end a guy's career, or what? There's emotion there, its just not of the psychopathic variety. And I love Kronwall's hits. This is the most physical team the Wings have had in a while. They're just smart about it.

The Pens are young, and they need to lose badly a few times in order to improve their game. This is a team that will content for a long time, not to worry. This year ain't their year. Let us old fogey Wings fans enjoy this one. :)

According to Therrien, the Wings play "obstruction" and are basically cheating. Spoken like a true sore loser. Um, the refs call penalties when the rules are broken. Playing airtight defense is not breaking the freaking rules, its called "good hockey".

"We haven't let faced a team who plays the obstruction game."
translation: "We are mad because Ottawa, Philly, and the Rangers were too easy, and now we want to take our ball and go home."

At least the Pens' players themselves are tactful.

    Skooled once more.

How many Pens are going to slip on the ice and while on said ice hold on to a Red Wing stick and not get a penalty. Oh yeah, the league dosen't want 10-0 games in the finals.

So super puck control and then actually turning the cheek when getting the jab in the face to go on the powerplay is a bad thing. You and Cherry are the only two I have ever heard say that. Maybe you should ask Malone how his three penalties by himself were. He sucked Datsyuk in once.

As much as I hate Detroit, they are passing the puck tape to tape and are soaring up and down the ice. They seem to be controlling/possessing the puck twice and much as the Pens. Hopefully the Pens wake up at home to make it interesting.
I love to turn you on

Damn, that was an entertaining game last night. I'm glad the Pens stepped up their effort, and were rewarded by a couple of bounces.

The Penguins played much, much better. I still thought the Wings looked great and had a chance to tie it up. It was amazing how a large man like Johan Franzen was able to skate his way through the entire Penguin's team and score. Hank had a few bounce off the post as well.

As long as the Wings don't do any more direct passes to Sidney Crosby for breakaways, they should be OK.

kid looked like he had a bright future, played well for the Canadian Junior team, but hadn't had the chance to stay in Vancouver for a sustained period of time

"Super puck control" and the 1 guy in, 4 guys back game of Detroit is horrible to watch. Give me 2 teams that "hate" each other in a series and I will give you entertaining hockey. The games that I have watched in these playoffs have all lacked emotion and they were pretty dull to watch. Remember, at the end of the day, nobody really gives a shit who wins the Cup. We want to see hockey that we can talk about for more than a minute. Everyone that I have talked to has said that these playoffs have been boring as hell.

Maybe you should stick to the Allan Cup.
Yeah, yeah you will probably say it's better hockey.
Nobody cares who wins the cup?

You talk about boring hockey the Wings play,
yet you are a Minnesota fan?Lemaire is the KING of
boring hockey. The guy perfected the left wing lock.
They might have picked it up a little this year but he
is trying to emulate the Wings.
Gaborik is a one dimensional player who gets benched more than
any player of that caliber in the league.
Hell they can't even decide on a captain.
Game 3 was great, but you probably didn't watch.

Who said that I was a Minny fan? I go see games there because it is close. Minny plays a boring game but they are nowhere near Wings boring.

You go and celebrate those Wings Cup wins. They really matter. Maybe you can give yourself a little fist pump as you walk down the street and think about the exciting hockey that got them there.

So, what teams should do then is not try to dominate opponents, but instead give up at least four goals, take stupid penalties, and start three or four meaningless fights, mainly to ensure that our ADHD society is appropriately stimulated?

    Righto.
I enjoy watching the Wings. I will enjoy watching them even more, now that Therrien and a few of his players are whining like little school girls every second interview. Truly, is it that hard for a coach to act a little professional?

ADHD society? Good one. The Wings play boring hockey. Period. NHL hockey is entertainment. Good fundamentals and discliplined play are not entertaining. 1 meaningful rivalry and maybe 1 or 2 emotional games isn't too much to ask for in the playoffs, is it? The Wings don't even have a player on their team to love or hate. I respect Lidstrom but you never even notice when he is on the ice. I hate the Leafs but love to watch Tucker (an emotional if not "stupid" player) get filled in, so I will watch some of their games and I enjoy watching some of their games. I think that Brian Burke is the only guy in the NHL that understands that it isn't really about winning and losing, but about being entertaining.

Now I see how little you know about the game of hockey.
The Norris Trophy winner in 5 of the last 6 years and you
never notice him on the ice?
    haha open your eyes.
Go down to Port Arthur stadium and watch the Thunder Bay
Border Cats. That should satisfy your taste for excitement.
Maybe you are just pissed because the only hockey you
get to see are the Wild.
Make sure you don't watch the game tonight.
I think there might re-runs of The Golden Girls to
    keep you awake.

You found me out. I know less about hockey than you do about Thunder Bay. Good one.

Lidstrom is great. He is always in the right place at the right time. He only pinches at the right time and he never makes a bad decision. This equals invisibility in the world of defencemen.

I would rather watch Bea Arthur go in on the forecheck than watch another second of the Wings waiting for power plays.

haha, that Bea Arthur. She's one tough cookie.
Jaques Lemaire would probably like to see that also.

Kronwall's bone-rattling hits are not boring. Ask the Pens. Neither are Dallas Drake's. Datsuk and Zetterberg are a blast to watch, the way they create offense. Holmstrom creates controversy and a strong emotional reaction from the opposition every game. Osgood is an interesting guy off the ice ... He's solid on the ice, if not spectacular (he's better than Fleury, anyhow). Lidstrom and Rafalski are skilled defensemen who can also create offense, and Brad Stuart is another physical guy who can deliver solid hits.
I don't see the boredom here, or the lack of personality.

Do not fret Reborn,Songburst has his Red Wing soother and sippy cup and he's propped up in his high chair right in front of the t.v. waiting for Bob Cole and Greg Millen to call all that great Red Wing action on CBC.
