okay, I am intrigued to find the answer to the question of when was the last time both teams playing in the Stanley Cup final came off of sweeps of the semi-final series. I guess it's probably it never has happened, but I bet it has, and if so, that it was before expansion. I am sure if Pitt goes up 3-0, somebody is going to hear the answer to that question. Post please.

You shouldn't be allowed to brag for that particular game ... What you should do is send a thank you card to the refs. Beat us without help, and then brag.

That disallowed goal was an awful call.

But hey, the Stars wanted to stay alive more than the Wings wanted to sweep, so there you go.

Was a bad call, but it just evens out the non-call on the goal in game one...

It also came out in the news today that sneaky Thomas Holmstrom has a pre-game superstition where he consumes 3 cups of black beans an hour before every game.

bad call- yes... good sell by Turco- definitely... I think that's more of the reason why goalie interference was called. Turco barely extended his arm up to stop the puck and from the refs angle it looked like Holmstrom impeded Turco from making the save. Was that the case??? no but with Holmstrom in the crease all series and the complaining about it, the call was bound to happen at some point.

    Agreed.
Earlier in the game he was all tangled up with Turco and a defenseman in the crease and the refs let it go (puck went off the post), but I would think that play was an influence as well.

Not that it applies at this point, but it happened in 1992. Pens swept the Bruins (and won 7 straight I think), and the Blackhawks swept Edmonton (won 11 straight). Pens ended up sweeping the finals.

Seconded. That call raised my eyebrow, but like the Versus announcers said, maybe they were making up for their mistake in the first game.

Hey who knew that farting near the goalie was 1.) not reviewable and 2.) disallows all goals while said fart is still blowing in the crease!!! WTF?!?!!

Give Dallas credit they worked hard and Turco had his best game.
Looking forward to Saturday, but I wish it was at night.
    I hate afternoon playoff games.

I don't think the players enjoy it much either.

The calls do tend to balance out, which is good, I suppose ...

As for the Penns, great team. No more invincible than the Wings are, though. The Wings playing poorly is still better than some teams playing their best hockey. It shall be a good series, but Pittsburg doesn't scare me, at all. If anything scares me, its the officiating.

As a pens fan, I still don't know what to think about a Pens/Wings series. I knew the Pens were good, but they are playing above what I thought they could do, so who knows what happens in the finals.

One thing strange about watching the Pens, is that they don't seem to care to set the pace, or even care to dictate the flow of the game. They have been amazing at adjusting to how their opponents play, and get scoring chances regardless.

Their speed on the forcheck is disrupting breakouts, then they are clogging the neutral zone, and if the puck gets through to their zone, the rush is so disrupted that it usually doesn't result in much.

Detroit plays a similar style of defense is all 3 zones, so as high powered as these teams are, I wouldn't be surprised with low scoring games.

Agreed. The result is going to be who makes the mistake and who can capitalize on it, or who shows up to sleep through a game. Both teams have a similar look.

Marty played his guts out today.

Game 6 is on! So glad they are putting up a fight and no going quietly.

BTW, how stupid is Holmstrom? How you do take a penalty like that (slapping someone on the bench) in a crucial game like this? There is getting under people's skin, and then there is just being stupid.

    Pressure on the Wings now.

You could say that it was Turcolicious.

And how about Trevor Daley actually doing something? I've never really cared for that kid, but he's showing what he's capable of, and it's good.
