Yea the local goalie talk ends right there
not really. it's pretty unfair to compare career stats with one goalie who has been in the league for 16 seasons and another that has only been around for 5.
but what we already know: since lundqvist broke into the league in '05, he has DOMINATED brodeur. can't take any goalie from the isles seriously, so yeah.... it would be foolish to say that hank isn't our top local goalie. 3 straight vezina nominations out of the gate, about to record his 5th straight 30 win season (most by any goalie of ALL time since rookie year). and all of this is with insanely average / below average ranger teams. imagine if the rangers were good? he would already have a few 40 win seasons on his resume.
and this is my problem with the rangers. they just allow great goalies to get buried. you have to give the devils credit.... they built a team around brodeur for his entire career, and the rangers now need to do the same with lundqvist.
i don't know why devil fans hate ranger fans so much. we are the only reason why you sell out games during the season. no soft spot for us?
and how about that girl in the grey dress behind the ranger's bench last night that was jumping up and down after drury's goal? haha, anyone else notice her on TV?0 -

I'd rather get a top 6 draft pick then be one and done in the playoffs again. but go ahead rags fans and cheer for them to make the playoffs knowing full your hearts will be broken and call for sathers head right away.
Btw- I loved how avery can give head shots to people and cause head injuries and then not fight when someone challenges him. Some tough guy for ya . I seem to remember avery making a name himself by fighting back when he was young in the league.0 -

it's pretty sad this is what rangers fans hang there heads on these days. making the 1st round and calling it a successful season.Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight

dont even make us bring up DiPietro
and to be fair Metsy I dont think any of us are saying that a first round exit in the playoffs is a successful playoff run,...For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside

i hope you guys wouldn't think that. rangers would probably get a top 10 if they tanked the season here on out.
btw- i knew from the second the puck dropped the other night that rags/isles game was gonna be uglyRon: I just don't feel like going out tonight
Sammi: Wanna just break up?0 -
nah, i'd much much rather have the rangers not make the playoffs than lose first round. NHL playoffs are too stressful on the fans... i don't need to go through that shit just to get over matched first round.
sucks for DP is right. and for the record i do hope the isles stay in NY. it would be a huge loss for SPORTS to lose one of the greatest rivarlies.0 -

the way the past decade has been... i think islander fans should be pretty excited about making the playoffs and not be worried if they get bounced in the first round.
baby steps...0 -
I dont think the NYR are gonna " tank" it.
They'll very likely scrape in with a few impressive wins,
only to lose out in the first round.
Even if they do tank out, its already been discussed that this years draft pool is diluted.
So if you are not in the very first picks,
you may as well have made the playofs, even with an early exit .For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside

Noone here has even brought up this referee issue.
Could it be that reffing is so anti- NYR , that we've all
just become accustomed to the one sided ( anti-NYR ) slant of things ?
This is just a small portion of the Hockey Rodents interpretation of the last game in NJ,
when you see the screenshot it brings all of the
reality of the matter to the front and center of your frontal lobe:
The pawing taking place at The Rock was not only blatant... it was utterly ignored.
Rob Niedermayer is as tacky-gripped as anyone. Just six minutes into the game, he actually had a hold of Ryan Callahan's collar with a grip for so long I was able to get a screenshot of it .
This is but one miniscule example of a trend which irrites me every March.
Now I've long since surrendered to the officiating. I'm not going to change it. Neither are the Blueshirts.
But what I don't understand is why your heroes continue to skate a loftier game, essentially handicapping themselves whilst their enemies get away with murder.
If getting down and dirty is that it takes to succeed up to and during the playoffs, this organ-eye-zation is going to have to find a way to roll in the mud.
and he also made a good point if one were to compare Henrik with Brodeur on this night:Henke faced one zillion percent more breakaways and odd-man rushes than did his counterpart 180 feet away? I dunno. A zillion is what I get when I divide by zero
i'm still wondering why Kovalchick wasnt in the shootout
we got away with one there.
We knew we'd see Elias , but what happened to Kchick? For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside
