Ovi did nothing though, he had a few shots but they were stopped and the D took him completely out of the game.

And yeah, great game by Callahan...he had 2 breakaways within a few minutes and when he went for the 2nd I turned to my friend and said "don't give Callahan 2 breakaways cause....*goal scored*....THAT will happen" it was pretty funny

    very true.
his usual pesty self but little impact on that particular game itself .
I would say this game, Semin was the biggest asset for Wash besides their goalie.

i'm picking orr. always liked his reach once he grabs onto an opponent's jersey. devestating right hand.
  • I'm thinking Brash wins. The home crowd has been booing him a little and I think he wants to settle that score by winning a fight against a player they and us really liked.

good stuff. beating up on a team they should beat up on.

liking the powerplay, more puck movement and shots from the point. these young defensemen are really putting the pressure on rosival & redden to step their game up. redden has strung together a few good games early on.

an even though it's only 6 games in, the rangers are tied for first in the league (flames) for most goals scored. only 6 games, but that is a huge bright spot for a team that couldn't score for bub-kiss last year.

Point taken, but so far, they have seven more goals than last year through six games. I think that's a very good sign.

    heave ho ,
    6 IN A ROW !

this team is actually fun to watch .

Marian Gaborik is defying laws of physics and gravity,
the way he swept the puck from behind him and then released the shot,.. :o
the way it unfolded and even on replay
i was like --what the fuk ?

    and how many times
are we going to get away with Henrik
injury free [if we] and the other team keep barrelling into him ?
i know we increased in size ,
    and brashear was out injured
so theres only a few left to fill that role ,
    ( is Voros that guy ? i dunno )

  • nice game tonight, that's 28 goals. here are some quotes -

John Tortorella on Marian Gaborik in the third period…

“That is where game breakers make it. That is just a great shot tonight. He killed penalties tonight. I thought Gaborik was our best player in all facets of the game. Third period is crunch time (and) he makes another big play tonight. He is that guy that you need to make a big play. Early in the season he has done that for us.”

    Henrik Lundqvist on tonight’s game…

“It is not easy playing the third game at home in a row, five wins in a row. You get a little comfortable. That is the way it is. The toughest part is, obviously, the mental part. We know they are a really good team, they showed it, especially in the second period where we struggled. The good part is that we don’t panic. We stay together and we know we can change the momentum of the game.”

    Marian Gaborik on Vinny Prospal…

“He is a great player. He has been around for a while, for many years. (He is) a great playmaker who works hard out there on every shift and you can see it. He looks for players, he battles hard and it pays off.”

Vinny Prospal on his 200th career goal…

“Obviously it is a milestone, but there are a lot of other players who have scored more goals than me. It is something…you go back in time and you think about people who didn’t think you would ever play in the NHL and then you get into that number and it is something that maybe I will look back onto when I am done and I can tell my kids. It is nice, and you get it over with. I remember the first goal I scored here was my 600th point and I tried last year to get that point and get it over with. I am glad my personal milestones are behind me.”

Will we extend to 7, yes 7
    in a row,

or will the Leafs please their homecrowd with their first win of the season ?

The Rangers face-off against the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight at Air Canada Centre (7:00 p.m.), in an Original Six matchup. The Blueshirts currently rank first in the Atlantic Division standings, and first in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 6-1-0 (12 pts.). New York enter tonight's contest having defeated Los Angeles, 4-2, Wednesday at Madison Square Garden to extend their winning streak to six games, their longest since they won seven straight during the 2005-06 season (Feb. 1 - Mar. 2). Toronto enters the contest with a 0-5-1 (one pt.) record, and rank 15th in the Eastern Conference. Following tonight's game, the Rangers will return home to faceoff against the San Jose Sharks on Monday, Oct. 19, at Madison Square Garden (7:00 p.m.).
