It was a total hockey showcase minus the fighting (other than one scrap). The first period had everything that is exciting about hockey (hits, goals, intensity).. the 2nd period had the same type of intensity and alot more dislike of each other. Then the 3rd turned into not trying to make a mistake and keep a 1 goal lead.... unfortunately the Flyers couldn't get a lead late, because they flat out suck in the shootout... I think they should start using Biron to take the shootout (it can't be any worse.)

that eight minute or so stretch in which there was no stoppage was about the most exciting stretch of a game i've seen in a while.

just read this on the bulletin- and i dont know if this is a ploy by avery ( since he has already been taaken to arbitration once previously ) but i really dont see why the rangers havent locked him up already, at least for 1 or 2 more years , especially with his critical role and the teams overall record with him as opposed to without him,....

March 03, 2008 Avery Breaks Silence, Breaks Contract Talks
Speculation about why Sean Avery refused to talk to the press the past few weeks always centered on his contract talks with the team -- everyone figured he didn't want to say anything in the press that might be held against him in a court of negotiations. That notion seemed to be confirmed today when Avery broke his media silence specifically to tell the world that his contract talks have broken off and that he expects to reach July 1st a free agent. Time will tell if this is a new negotiating ploy by Avery, taking his case public, or if it's precisely the foot-in-mouth event he was hoping to avoid by avoiding the press.
For more, see Blueshirts Blog, Rangers Report, Newsday, and Newsday's Rangers Insider, who reported the news from practice today, where everyone skated in preparation for tomorrow's game against the Islanders except Scott Gomez, who rested a sore groin but is expected to play. Henrik Lundqvist is also expected to return to the crease, while the line-up in front of him remains the same as yesterday.

more press on the Avery issue. ( Daily News , NY POST )
I will be furious if they let him get to July 1, and then watch him go off to the islanders , flyers , or devils ,....and really sock it to us .
the record speaks for itself w/ Avery as oppossed to without Avery .
The figures are out there, but surely they can negotiate to an agreeable realistic, comparitive figure to keep the guy here.

I don't about his years in LA but he seems to be hurt a lot
Never scoring 20 goals in a season isn't helping his cause, he may hit it this year, but 20 goals is a benchmark for guys in the league
That being said I think the Flyers over-paid Hartnell but whats done is done
Avery is not a $4 mill guy...also didn't the Rangers bash him in Arbitration last year ?
These types of players have a limited shelf life to them ........so you don't want to tie your team up in a long term deal with them .......in the Canucks case I was kind of disappointed to see Cooke go last week to the Caps ....but you realize his best days are probably behind him.
As for Hartnell I don't think he has ever realized his potential .....I remember seeing him in the league in his first couple of years with the Preds and he looked like he could be a real impact player both from a physical stand point and with some scoring touch ala Iginla. These days I think he is still a good hard nosed player but his scoring prowess will probably never materialize.
As for Avery I think both Bath and X have nailed it .....with Avery in the line up the Rangers are a different team and the stats back it up.

1st round $55 per ticket = $220 for 4 games
2nd round $75 per ticket = $300 for 4 games
conf. finals = $100 per ticket = $400 for 4 games
STANLEY CUP= $150 PER TICKET = $600 for 4 games
i dont have a problem paying $1520 if we win the cup lol
but msg has said the blue seats got the majority of the raise ? wtf?
they treat the die-hards the worst
mind u reg season is $30 per ticket
and these prices arent that high for new york but still
And to think my Game 7 Cup Final ticket was $32.00. I know it was 13 years ago but still..
i was looking at those tickets last week lol
