hey, does anyone know what the pay schedule is with ball players? my wife was asking how often do they get paid and i didn't have an answer for her. i mean, do they get a weekly check? monthly?

Bi-weekly. A-rod's pay stub is about $2 million, twice a month.

firing Girardi would be such a wrong move ause seriously..who do they bring in?? He deserves at least one more yr with a full healthy and better lineup

and I really dont see Torre laughing..I think he might actually be feeling bad for his boys like Jete and Mo Jorge, etc for haviing to deal with this bullshit Torre always been and always be a class act

I wouldnt mind seeing the Cubbies finally ending their jinx tho..thatd be pretty exciting to witness as a part of history

you don't think the Steinbrenner's aren't going to fire Girardi? That's classic. They have to blame someone. I don't think it's all his fault but I think it's a possiblity. Last year's team had injuries too and they eeked into the playoffs.

I don't think Torre would laugh in public. In private I think he's smirking a little bit :)

man I hope not..Joe G's one of the few who have actually showed that they care this yr

prolly right about Torre too tho..maybe deep inside how they treated him he's actually happy :(

the ownership should blame themselves for the Arod fiasco and bullshit trades Not Girardi
Aah, fuck it, I’m just gonna go home, turn on the fuckin’ TV...
Watch the nightly news and drink a beer...

agreed! I am no A-Rod fan.

Plus the Dodgers are 3 games back in the NL west. I don't know where they are in the wild card

what may hurt even more is that Atlanta flipped Renteria for two very good young players, SP Jair Jurrjens and SS Yunel Escobar. Terrible move by Detroit
  • Is it me,...or has basically every move cashman made the past 4-5 years failed??? Except Abreu and I do think Girardi is the man. Other than that every other move did not live up to expectations. & pretty much every move boston made worked out favorably to them. Even this year. Bay has had great games vs. the Yanks already and hit pretty clutch. Pudge? 0 for 85

I was thinking about that after my post...maybe Cashman shouldn't be back. he gets all the credit for the 98,99, and 00 championships, but he won them with Gene Michael and Buck Showalters team. and Bob Watson. Maybe it's time for a change. Buck Showalter for GM?

I think Hughes should be called up for the next turn. I'm not sure if he should take Rasner or Ponson's spot yet.

couldn't agree more. I'd so much rather take a shot with him, and even Kennedy who's become a bit of a pariah, than Ponson and Rasner. Speaking of Cashman, the main reason for him to go is that he's been stockpiling pitchers for years, and yet Ponson and Rasner are making 40% of this teams starts. I know that's because Joba and Wang are hurt, but still....He should have a much more reliable Plan B, C, D, E, F and G.

no chance Girarid gets fired. Hank has already thrown in the towel on this season, and absolved Girardi of any blame. Not that Hank's word means anything after the "if he opts out, he's not coming back" fiasco.

I think cause most of the young pitchers have either come out of major surgery or have been injured. I don't know why they haven't given Chase Wright another shot. They still can't be punishing him for giving 4 homers back to back in Boston.

I don't think that means anything, esp if they really dont' make the playoffs for the first time, since...when? mid 90's? I think Joe has a shot of getting canned. they have to 'blame' someone, it's the 'Steinbrenner way' I don't think they should do that at all, he can only do so much with an injured and aged pitching staff, but I think it is a possibility.

I just hope they go after more quality pitchers in the off season and not focus on the star hitters SO much. We have enough hitters, we need more quality/reliable pitching.

    blech.

They also came into this season with the possibility of not going into the playoffs. Because of starting the season with 2 rookies pitchers. Then moving Joba in there later. Not knowing if Mussina will pitch any better than last year.

    true, good points.

I don't know, I think Joe will get a bad rap for all of this. He had big ginormous shoes to fill. It's just a feeling I have.

Although you could argue the offense should have been doing more than what they have been.

also true. It's a bad combination of poor offense, poor pitching and injuries. And then this freak Tampa Bay thing! Who would have thought that they are probably going to claim the AL East title?!

I had a feeling they were going to compete this year. Especially the way they were playing late last year. But 1st place is a surprise. The fact that they're still there is even more surprising.

wow, now that's predictable. a Sox win, and you're back. 4.34 ERA, over 20+ starts. And Byrd was only good lasy year cause he was on HGH. Off the HGH, he's a joke. Have fun watching that.

I did have fun watching Byrd last night. ;)

Sorry, I know it's a rough stretch for you guys, but I couldn't resist.

  • Bottom line is.....

They need this year to end and then start over a bit.
Joe Girardi is the man. I beleive he did not properly get to use his baseball smarts this year with this team. He needs a Girardi team, not a cashman torre team.

Girardi needs guiys like him that show emotion and bust their ass to win games. That being said i'm not sure cashman is the man to provide the yanks with that sort of team. I say that only based on what he has provided.
ie,....giambi, kevin brown, jaret wright, damon, arod, pudge, pavano, on and on and on

At the end of this year Girardi and the beginning of next, the yankee staff need to let these guys know this high paid celebrity in NY type baseball is over. I'd take 9 Scott Brosious over 9 Damon, Arods, Giambi's ANYDAY!

btw....2 more K's for Arod today. 1st inning was a rally killer.

why doesn't Pedroia head back to the dugout, then maybe grab some popcorn with the Bleacher Creatures on his way to 3rd.

Seriously though, can't blame a guy for trying, but what are the umps watching? And these guys complained about instant replay?
