  • They were ALREADY at the top of the standings, so this takes them from being a playoff team to a Stanley Cup team.

You were right. I had Washington and Pitt mixed up in my head for some reason. All these deals have my brain going a million different directions.

Given that there's 10 pts from the top of the standings to ninth place.....

Curious what Pitt's cap space is like ?

If it's tight they may not be able to lock him up
Guys at TSN think there's no way they're able to lock him up after this season with the roster and prospects the way they are. Time will tell.

Bob Gainey's reasoning today was pretty good. Atlanta wanted a four piece, apparently three current roster players from the Habs and a prospect, and he wouldn't go that far.
Thinks Price/Halak can do as good a job as Price/Huet. We'll see.

about $11 mill under. he is very signable for us. he will not get crosby money anywhere. should get about $5 mill a year. they have plenty of room to resign him.

He's going to want $8-10 million a year, and there's apparently some young un's leaving young 'un salary brackets.

Cause they wouldn't get anything at all for him.
Mind you a 2nd round 2009 pick is just about nothing.....
