So what was Mtl thinking or is it still brewing??
I would say you've seen all you're going to from them.
    What a bad move.
  • rangers trade marcel hossa and al montoya to phoenix for fredrik sjostrom, josh gratton and david lenveu.

Damnit. I had really high hopes of the Blues going after Montoya.
  • Woohoo! Isles got rid of Simon and MAB for nothing, which is more than plenty!

  • The Canadiens finally have something going for them and they couldn't improve their roster kinda disappointing although i'm not even a fan, but would be nice to see if Koivu could produce something with a solid winger or maybe they should've trade Saku for something.

The move sending Huet to Washington is a move that will have me scratching my head for quite some time.

if they keep marcel through the offseason and then sign marian hossa, then phoenix made a shrewd move.

I wasn't expecting any big gains. I definitely wasn't expecting to see our starting goaltender shipped out. It contradicts all of Gainey/Carbo's talk about how the current group can get it done to trade Huet now.

  • Partly because of Milbury i was hoping for Jokinen going to a playoff team and being the same player there as well just to hear his comments afterwards. Luongo AND Jokinen for Kvasha&Parrish, god motherf¤cking damn Mike! I haven't forgiven...

  • Interesting...

Holmgren confirmed that the Flyers tried to make deals for both Campbell and Fedotenko, but that the asking price was too much and in every scenario involved Jeff Carter.

Not surprising that the asking price was high, for Philly at least, since all three teams are fighting for a playoff spot in the East
  • As a Blues fan, I'm pretty let down w/ the way it shaped up today. I have no problem trading Bryce Salvador. He's 32, a solid player, but I don't think we could have signed both him and Jackman. Why on Earth though we trade him for a goon like Cam Jannsen is beyond me. We could have at least got a third or fourth round draft pick in a very deep 2008 draft.

I'm very pleased about sending Backman to the Rangers for a 4th round pick. I feel like the Rangers got the short end of the stick on this one. Backman is worthless.

Moves I was hoping to be made? I was hoping we could work something out w/ the Rangers for Montoya. We've got a solid prospect in Marek Schwarz. I would have liked to have seen Martin Ruckinsky and Jay McKee take their bloated salaries elsewhere too($7M between the two of them). We've got many prospects on defense (Woywitka, Polak, Wagner) that could fill in the hole w/ McKee and top tier prospects like T.J. Oshie and Patrick Berglund that could fill the "void" of Rucinsky.

I think we might have improved our chances at the playoffs by default because of Chicago and Columbus throwing the towel in.

What's everyones thought on their teams moves today?

Outside of the Blues, the only move that really has me scratching my head is why the Canadiens are putting their 5th place spot in the east on the line w/ a 20 year old goalie? I just don't get it. Great move if you're the Caps, but what the hell is Montral thinking?

Glad Gainey didn't trade the team for a rental, but I am disappointed in the Huet giveaway. I am thinking the odds of getting Hossa were probably good until Pittsburgh went bonkers.

If I were a Penguins fan I would want the GM to lock Hossa up ASAFP. I have a feeling he wants to test the free agent market and Pitt gave up way too much for him to just be a rental player.

If they can sign him long term though? Holy shit...that'd be an amazing team.

He wants Crosby money, and Malkin deserves the money before Hossa.

I agree. I guess Pitt is going for broke this season. I think this makes them a playoff team, but I don't see the payoff in the end for a rental player.

Curious what Pitt's cap space is like ?

If it's tight they may not be able to lock him up

They were ALREADY at the top of the standings, so this takes them from being a playoff team to a Stanley Cup team.
