He sure did, and he threw lefty too!

Derek Jeter should buy the team :)

But it's probably in his will who gets it..it was supposed to be his son in law, no? But now that he's about to be his Ex Son In Law...that gets thorny...

I'm sure it will be fine.. Brian Cashman will still run things from his end...

    LMAO
He said it too, or one of the broadcasters did... I heard that on tv the other day.
Or maybe I heard it on ESPN? Well somebody said it! Gosh darnit. Yeah I can't stand Kay. He just runs his mouth to hear himself talk, on and on and on...

Tonight he was like, "it's not that cold in the stadium"
and Girardi blew up his spot, he was like "yeah, b/c we have a heater in the booth!"

thats gotta be one of the oldest cliches in sports.

i only caught the last inning and a half, as NYR hockey playoffs contention games take presidence over NYY games at this time of the year , in my house anyways.

Extra Innings is back on cable again for those outside the YES market. Thank god!
I only saw part of the game. How did Andy look? Proctor was already in when I turned the game on.

I think it's too cold for them. They should start the season later :)

1st time in NYY franchise history
that the 1st 3 pitchers ( in 1st 3 games ) didnt go to at least 5 innings to begin a season

this kind of history tidbits we could do without !

indeed! This does not bode well at all. I really think they were too cold! And you know how Moose gets all freaked out when he pitches out of his slot in the rotation.

Ugh and the Metsies are undefeated. Ugh ugh ugh

Did you see the game that was called in Cleveland on account of SNOW w/one out left?

2 out, bottom of the 9th , bases jammed

the scenario is set , walk off ,...

    and what a shot

Alex hits it into the black - about 415 feet , and the stadium erupts for the 10-7 win .

down 7-3 at one point, this was a huge win ,so at least today he's not booed by the Fans .

How do you like them apples?

That was some shot. I was happy for him for a minute.

Eh, let's see if he can pull it off in September though! :)

And the Metsies lost in ATL! Delgado seems to have forgotten how to catch a ball at 1st base. Oops.

You mean October. And it's not like he's never hit in the playoffs. Recently he hasn't. But he was a good hitter in the post season prior to game 4 of the yanks/Rsox series of '04.

AstroFan? What's up with highjacking the Yankees thread? Go start your own thread, man :) ..and don't go bragging on Roy Oswalt over here either...UGH ...

I didn't forget, I was just remembering, I think the baseball season used to end earlier in September, didn't it? My bad :)

I know when the playoffs are, no worries :)

Yeah and look what happened after that! UGH, don't bring that up man..

I don't care what he did 3 yrs ago, all I know is he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn last year and we lost to Detroit and it was nauseating. I mean that's not the only reason why we lost, but it didn't help the matter. He even said he stunk up the joint.

Being clutch in April and being clutch in OCTOBER (my bad about that) are 2 different things. Plus I just don't like him.
You know what music played when he came up to bat at the stadium? "This is Why I'm Hot"

    That's just conceited.

It's hard to form an opinion on a player by a handful of at-bats(he only had 14 AB vs Detroit).

But if you're willing to look at something he's done for the Yankees, even if it's from 2004, try this game log from the deciding game of the 2004 divisional series:

YANKEES 11TH: Jeter was called out on strikes; Rodriguez doubled
    to left
; Rodriguez stole third; Lohse threw a wild pitch
    [Rodriguez scored]
; Sheffield popped to second; Matsui struck
    out; 1 R, 1 H, 0 E, 0 LOB. Yankees 6, Twins 5.

A-Rod singlehandedly scores the game winning run, while Jeter and Matsui strikes out.

Now here's some career lines, both in the playoffs, and in regular season situations. One of them is the 'choker', the other is Captain Clutch. In a couple instances they have a nearly identical OPS. In the rest, Player A is significantly better than Player B.

    Playoffs:

    .280/.362/.485/.847
    .314/.384/.479/.863

    Runners On:

    .311/.393/.581/.974
    .320/.400/.444/.844

    RISP:

    .303/.398/.550/.948
    .307/.404/.432/.836

    RISP w/2 Outs:

    .270/.394/.462/.856
    .307/.412/.438/.851

    Bases Loaded:

    .336/.403/.678/1.082
    .352/.414/.440/.854

And here are their career lines in the regular season:

    .305/.386/.573/.959
    .317/.388/.463/.851

You can take a guess who Player A is.

Hint: He's the best player on the 2007 New York Yankees, and he started his career in Seattle at SS. ;)
