I originally saw the episode where Buffy made Thanksgiving dinner and everyone, but her, knew that Angel was in town. Then it crossed over to Angel when Buffy went to LA and confronted him on why he was there. That was the episode were Angel became human again. Such a GREAT episode.

i've thought of doing that, maybe once we start watching Angel, I'll get the Buffy episodes and watch it back to back :D

oh i think i have both of those season i should do that later

    OK.

So the wife and I have begun watching Season Five on dvd, where Buffy encounters Dracula, Giles tells Willow of his plan to leave Sunnydale, and--at the very end--we get introduced to Dawn.

The first thing I noticed while watching the ep is how much more adult Buffy looks at the beginning of this season. Does anyone else noticed a major change in her look from Season Four to Season Five? Buffy is more--well--buff. If this was on-purpose, I would assume it is to prepare us for all the growing up she will do that season: two years removed from high school; mother dies; head of household; deeper understanding of Slayer's powers.

With apologies to the Season Three fans, I think Season Five is my favorite of the series. The depth of writing and overall plot organization hits its height in Season Five and I'm quite looking forward to watching them all over again.

Laughed SO HARD during Xander's analysis of being placed under Dracula's thrall:

Xander: Where is he? Where's the creep that turned me into a spider eating man bitch?
    Buffy: He's gone.
Xander: Damn it! You know what? I'm sick of this crap. I'm sick of being the guy who eats insects and gets the funny syphilis. As of this moment, it's over. I'm finished being everybody's butt monkey!
Buffy: Check. No more butt monkey.

    :D

If you could manage to get through the rest of Season Four, you'd probably really enjoy the later seasons. Four was less than stellar, but Five more than makes up for it.

Did you not enjoy Season Four because it marks Angel's departure from Sunnydale?

I think Season 4 was not too good, b/c I didn't like Riley. But it did have some moments in that season when Giles was turned into a demon thanks to his former friend, Ethan :p (A New Man 4.12)

Giles: [running through screaming people from Xander's house.] "Bloody Humans!"

I know the quote doesn't sound too funny, but watching it is! :p

TONIGHT. VEDHEAD27 and I are going to start watching Season 7...*sighs* the ending of a great show!

Yes you do, I just saw it recently, we watched the whole lot over about 5 days. It's as good as Buffy/Angel at it's best, beggars me as to why it was not more successful.

Seriously freaking funny and entertaining, and great characterizations as usual. Ironic in neo-con US that the most important personage was a "companion".

Question for all you buffy fans, which season do you think was the BEST?

Two of my favorite shows Buffy and Angel.

I did not read this entire post, but in case no one has it, I thought I would share Once More With Feeling to any of the fans here.

Never seen Firefly or the movie, but I will check them out, I am sure it being from Joss that it's good.

I really enjoy Buffy and Angel...

but hands down, FIREFLY is the best thing that Joss has ever created.

Its been a while since I saw a Buffy episode. It was always a guilty pleasure show for me. Some of that was the whole Sarah Michelle Gellar fixation, but it was really a very well written show. Never saw Firefly the series, but after watching "Serenity" I think I should. That was a very good movie.

I remember feeling like that episode was going to be a major mistake for Joss's crew. It just didn't seem that the cast had the chops to pull it off, at the time.

But after watching it, I can see why the team was so eager to help Joss produce a musical episode. It is simply brilliant and one of the finer episodes of the entire series--up there w/ Hush, Graduation Day, and a few others I'd have to research names for.

Are all the Joss Whedon fans on summer vacation?

I thought there'd be some more Buffy discussion by now...

    Wake up, Scoobies. ;)

I think season 3 was the best overall - Faith arrives in town & is a great addition to the mix. Harry Groener as The Mayor displays the best acting of any season's Big Bad. Spike is only in 1 episode but it was a memorable one - "I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it." Joyce goes through the process of dealing with the "Buffy is the Slayer" thing. Plus "Band Candy" is a hoot.

On another note, did you all hear about the big auction Joss did for the charity Equality Now? Five spots at a 3-hour dinner with him at a nice restaurant in San Diego tomorrow night. The total came to about $52,000. (Note to self...buy lottery tickets! Heh.)

We get two back to back episodes of Angel in the morning on one channel and one episode of Buffy on another channel. They sure make a lot more sense than the news shows. If you like the actor who plays Angel, you should check out the show Bones. He is really good in that show too.

An Ode to Season 4 Spike. For all those Spike fans out there.

I just noticed this thread existed and it's like having the icing on a great cake. A Buffy thread on the Pearl Jam board. Does it get any cooler than this? :)

Season 6 is my personal favorite. I've definitely watched it the most compared to the other seasons. The troika completely crack me up and you can't beat the angst of Spike and Buffy. It had Once More, With Feeling, Tabula Rasa ("Randy Giles? You might as well call me horny Giles, or desperate for a shag Giles!") and the best season cliffhanger ever.
