Anyone a fan of these shows or at least one of them? :D

i really miss these shows A LOT!! Both great shows in their own rights. My girl, VEDHEAD27 and I have been watching all the Buffy seasons on DVD (we are almost done w/season 5). Then after we finished Buffy, we are going to watch Angel. :D

Sure, the special effects may seem cheesy, but hey, that is what is great about this show. It makes me laugh seeing that huge snake in Season 5 going down the street. :p But it is those characters like Buffy, Angel, Spike, Xander, Willow, Giles that made the show.

The cross overs that Buffy had in Angel were well written too. I loved it when Angel became a mortal for Buffy, but his mortality would come at a cost for Buffy during season 1 or 2 of Angel. Both series I liked. Even when Spike came out in Angel, you see their characters butt heads a lot.

Recall your favorite Buffy/Angel moment!

My former roommate was obsessed with Buffy. Well, maybe he was just obsessed with Sarah Michelle Gellar, but he had all the Buffy DVDs. I borrowed them and watched every season and I have to admit, it was a pretty good show. I liked the first three seasons the best because the writers incorporated good drama and some comedy. Towards the end of the show, the comedy wasn't there that much. My favorite episode was in season 5 though (I think). It's the one that was all silent with the demons that stole everyone in Sunnydale's voice. That was maybe the creepiest TV episode I have ever seen, but I loved it! The musical episode is pretty memorable too.

I think I've seen every episode of Buffy 4 or 5 times. Whenever I see the repeats on cable I just have to watch them. It's hard to pick a favorite episode.

I loved Spike. I think one of my favorites was when Buffy went to him to find out how he killed the two slayers.

Hush is season 4, episode 10.

    Once More, With Feeling--the musical--is season 6, episode 7.

Both are classics and I love watching them, but I thought the Graduation Day episdoes at the end of season 3 were some of the best Joss and crew put out there.

The writing, directing, costumes, character development and everything else about those shows were just so much fun for me. My wife is fast becoming a Buffy fan as we are attempting to watch the entire series this year (our first year of marriage).

Keep this thread alive. I'll come here and talk Buffy frequently...

I was a Buffy and Angel fanatic back in their day. There definitely was a void in TV when these shows finished. It's been filled by Lost and Heroes now thankfully.

During a bout of flu last Summer I watched all of Buffy season 2 and then all of season 5. I think it was running out of steam a little by season 5, the quality was definitely dropping off before it recovered for the final season.

I've only caught a handful of episodes of Buffy. It's addictive once you start to get into it..

My favorite episode had to do with hiyena mentality possessing this guy/group of people.. Where this mean pecking pack mentality entered and took over these people..

    That episode freaked me out.
I think i may have witnessed that phenomenon in reality before lol.

Agreed. He's always been my fav. LOVE LOVE LOVE him! :D
I remember telling a co-worker ages ago when season 5 had just started that him and Buffy should end up together. It had always been a dream of mine. The co-worker laughed in my face and told me there was no way that would happen. hehehe. Needless to say I was THRILLED with the outcome. :D

BUFFY will always be one of my all time fav shows. It's funny too cuze a friend of mine was obsessed with it and I use to always make fun of him for it. I thought the show was retarded for the longest time. :p Then it ended up sucking me in and I became a full blown addict. Would turn my ringer off on Buffy nights and all. LOL!!!!

Great thread Nadi. Can't wait for our next Buffy night!

P.s. OMG! THE MUSICAL IS THE BEST!!!! SPIKE'S SONG REST IN PEACE!? :o Looooooove it!

So I'll apologise for not knowing episode names or specific quotes,
but my favorites where those silent floating guys that came and stole all the voices. That won an award that episode. It's amazing, and still scares the shit out of me!
I love the episode when that freaky creature paralyzed willow and was slicing off slivers of her skin and eating them. EUUUCCHH!!

And in Angel, when Darla is dead and in order for some great drama to happen Angel has to be turned back into Angelus again. And for the life of me I couldn't work out how they'd do it and at the very end of the episode, in marches Druscilla!!!! :D So clever!! And such a shock!!!!!

Has anybody seen Josh Whedon's other series Firefly?
    Which spawned the movie, Serenity?

    EXCELLENT STUFF!! :D

If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend that you do.

    I love Josh Whedon. :)

Ew Riley! This is very true. See how forgettable he is?

haha and YES! That quote is too funny. So is that image of Giles with the chainsaw. :p

    HORRAY FOR BUFFY NIGHT(s)!
    :D

    Ooh and Jeanie! Awesome recaps!
Thanks for the reminder of Firefly! I've heard really good stuff about it. Definitely must check it out.

I think David Boreanaz does SUCH an amazing job switching back and forth between Angel and Angelus.
The episode where Buffy has to kill him always turns me into the biggest cry baby.

yeah Jeanie!! :D The silent episode was pretty damn good. I don't know how they pulled it off. I believe the show got an emmy for best writing in that episode. Josh writes great plotlines, even though at first, it may sound impossible, but he always manages to pull it off. :) I am also a HUGE fan of his! I did manage to see an episode of Firefly when it first came out on FOX, but at the time, i was in high school, and it usually aired during the evening when I was away on football games for the band. :/ I need to re-check it out. :) thanks for the suggestion girl :D

damn, I need to see ALL of the Angel episodes as well. I loved it that at the last season, they brought in Spike to join Angel's group. Talk about great dynamics there. one of my favorite Angel episodes was when he got turned into a puppet. He looked cute as a puppet! :p I loved it when Spike came into his office, and Angel was sitting in the chair, and turns his chair around to face Spike, and Spike goes, 'you're a BLOODY puppet!' and starts mocking and laughing at him. Then, Angel, the puppet, flies from his chair and starts beating up Spike :p

I am a HUGE Buffy fan! I have all seven seasons on DVD! My favorite eps include all Xander heavy eps with the possible exception of Teacher's Pet. Can't say I like that one much at all! But I love The Pack, and I even Loved The Zeppo, which a lot of people don't like. I really hated that Xander lost his virginity to Faith because I thought up to that point that him and Cordelia had done it. Cordy should have been his first!

Spike is one of my favorites too. He had the most character development of anybody in the series. And I still say he loved Buffy more than Angel ever did... even if it was more of an obsession... and yeah it got scary.

I didn't hate Tara. I liked her quite a lot actually. I HATED Kennedy with a passion! I also didn't care for Riley at all!

My favorite big bad was The Mayor! And I loved that Snyder got eaten by him. That was so... appropriate.

My favorite character in the whole show was probably Willow! She was just so badass there toward the end! Gotta love that black-eyed-evil thing she had goin on! But just in general... she rocked!

And when I'm asked what my favorite line is I always come back to one... I don't know if it's my favorite, but it always pops into my head first when I'm asked... so it must be... and that is...

Buffy: It's just - there he is. On the hell mouth. All day, every day. That's got to be like being showered with evil. Only from underneath. A bidet! Like a bidet of evil!

You're right. It wasn't his fault. He really didn't have anything to do with the Buffy movie except writing the script, and that was BUTCHERED by the director and producers. He was smart to keep the rights to his story though. It's what allowed him to be able to do the series at all.

I've been a big fan of Buffy and Angel since their beginnings. If I had to rank the seasons of Buffy from best to worst, it would go 3, 5, 2, 4, 7, 1, 6. Angel seasons would be 2, 3, 1, 5, 4.

But hands down, FIREFLY is the best thing that Joss has ever created. Only fourteen episodes ever made (half a season), but those fourteen episodes are far superior to any season of Buffy or Angel.

Serenity was good, definitely a satisfying morsel for any Browncoat or Whedon fan. But it was made for a mass movie market, and a lot of the nuances from the Firefly series were missing.

I've recommended FIREFLY to all of my friends, and I've yet to have one come back to me with a negative response.

You so gotta watch Firefly!! It rocks!! It's so funny and clever. Just a really great series. :)

Ah the puppet episode!!! HOW COOL WAS THAT???!! :D
If you like interesting puppets, you should get the movie Meet the Feebles.
It's like an R rated Muppets. It's awesome!! :D It was written and directed by Peter Jackson of Lord Of The Rings fame. It's old. 1989 I think, but it's well worth a look. :) Very twisted.

Buffy and Angel are a bit of sore point around here. My doofus brother (who I love really! sshhh! don't tell him!! ;) ) bagged me for years for watching them. I used to tape them religiously every week and watch them during the day, coz some of them freaked me out too much in the dark!! :D
Anyway, he used to give me so much shit for watching "Fluffy" and friends! :p
He was always into Star Trek, Babylon 5 (?whatever!) Red Dwarf, Stargate. Sci Fi shit. :p Anyway, I kept nagging him about Buffy, telling him what he was missing out on. And he kept giving me shit. THEN! Can you believe this?
He goes out and buys the complete series of both!!!!! AARGGGHHH!!!
Now he's a complete convert!!! :D My work here is done!!!! ;)

Sorry! :o You are right of course!! Think I may have posted after an all nighter, so forgive me? ;)

Buffy and Angel are fantastic. :) Some of the best television ever, in my humble opinion. I actually even heard sociologists here quoting it and referring to it. We really need it to come back. The world was a much better place with it in it. :)

As to Serenity, I think it was written to tie up all the loose ends of Firefly when the series was axed mid season. It's a shame that it wasn't more able to be a stand alone effort, but it is still a cool film and well worth watching.
I would suggest you are up to speed with the series before you see it though. :)

It's all good as far as I'm concerned mookie. I was so thrilled to find out about Firefly. I'd been suffering Joss withdrawls and wasn't expecting that I'd like it. But I borrowed it from a friend and watched the lot in one sitting!!!
I liked it so much I put it on my Christmas list and the mumma obliged!!! :D

I also own Serenity on DVD but was lucky enough to see it at the Drive In on an enormous screen. And I'm really glad I got to see it on the big screen.
It's still great on DVD but some movies really are better watched on the big screen and Serenity definitely qualifies as one of those.

I watched the first seasons but it kept getting worse so I stopped watching...

I did love the flashbacks of the vampires, Angel and Spike (English guy with white hair?), brilliant. It would be great if they made a new show about that group of vampires (Angel, Spike, the creepy silent childish woman...) back then.
