I haven't been down to the seaport in awhile. Although I did hear them on their megaphone on Friday night lighting the tree. I feel for you with the constant loop of crap you will have to endure! I will only venture down there on a "have to" basis. You know, like I have to eat at Red's.

Actually it was a combo of her wanting to see it along with getting tickets for $4 that played into the mix. All joking aside, the second half of the show was them mostly singing hits of the 70's, which while may sound like a nightmare, was actually far better than the first half.

i just love when they are walking on a crowded side walk, stop dead in their tracks, look straight up and stare at a building for 10 minutes, then finally decide to take a picture. all while creating a massive people jam on the sidewalk.
In 36 years of life, I have managed to alienate every person who is the kind to expect a gift for Christmas. I do my best to get something for everyone I will be seeing during those days, but I don't agonize about it.

Right there with ya - I kind of have to some stuff xmas related because of work, like put up a tree, but not so much in private life as my husband doesn't celebrate it and neither do my kids. But everyone around me gets so hyper. I spent Christmas day 2006 painting my fitness center, whilst The Fragile was playing. It was very peaceful and I enjoyed the day. I expect I'll do something similar this year.

I love this time of year, but I hear ya. There's just no reason for the stress everyone creates for themselves. It's such a waste of energy!

but complete agreement on the stress, entirely unnecessary and mostly self-induced. i refuse to get sucked into ANY of it. we buy a minimal amount of gifts - all done - cards only to a chosen few - limit how many engagements we commit to - refuse to travel far ON the holiday. i DO go a bit nuts decorating the house, but only b/c i LOVE it. however, even the decorations scaled back somewhat...and no outdoor lights anymore. it was always a battle with my husband and it just soured what should be fun...so now no lights, just seasonal decor/greenery and such. totally try to focus on the FUN and SPECIAL...and avoid all of the shite.
