I was surprised to see Barry Bonds on the list... ;)

"Mitchell is a director of the Boston Red Sox, one of the most valuable franchises in the sports industry. Selig was instrumental in placing Mitchell in the Red Sox ownership. Many have suggested that Mitchell cannot be independent and would do whatever Selig wants him to do in the report."
    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?id=3142722

I see a conflict of interest in someone who is the director of the REd Sox running the investigation.

anyone else agree he may not have been the best most independent person to do this?

well nobody else really stepped up to do it and he is a former prosecuting attorney, so it's not like he's unqualified.

Well, if the names that NY PJ1 listed are accurate, a lot of Red Sox are named on the list so I see no conflict:

Manny Alexander, Dante Bichette, Jose Canseco, Roger Clemens, Paxton Crawford, Johnny Damon, Carl Everett, Rich Garces, Normar Garciaparra, Eric Gagne, Jeremy Giambi, Trot Nixon, Jose Offerman, Julian Tavarez, Mo Vaughn, and Jason Varitek all have Red Sox ties.

I would be surprised if Eric Gagne is not on that list.

He came from nowhere, crappy 5th starter as a young up and comer, came into that one season much bigger and stronger, and then became a beast of a closer, then was hurt 2-3 years. Seems fishy

I too have seen this list on other sites.

Biggest current name is Pujols. Biggest surprise is Varitek. Interesting name is Darryl Kile ... he died at age 33 thanks to a 90% blockage in two coronary arteries. Interesting ommision is Piazza.

With regards to the Former Mets clubhouse attendant Kirk Radomski (a big part of the investigation) ... listening to WFAN yesterday, interesting story is that he was not going to say anything until those who got caught ratted him out as a distributor.

In the end, Jose Canseco was right.

btw...I just heard this leaked list may not be the actual list. this one has been in the hands of some media and they're already making some retractions. lets all wait for the official list.

Good call i was thinking more along the lines of currrent players though the majority of those listed no longer play for the sox.

    Varitek obviously does though.

It would actually shock me if Ortiz is NOT on the list. I posted the pics of him as a Twin, where he's about 160 pounds. Now check out his HR totals, starting with 2000
