I didn't say you have to pick just one. Sheesh, you think if you asked me or Kabong or abook to list some of the shitty things we've done, we'd feel like we had to limit ourselves to one thing? ;)

I'm not going to waste my time by responding to all of the post. You need to limit your posts to smaller amounts of material because you're dropping a heap on me so I don't bother to respond to any of it. I don't have the time to respond to it all and I would encourage you to not heap massive amounts of text when arguing a point - lawyers do that when they want to delay proceedings and I see you've learned that technique well.

I will respond to the beginning.

There is no such thing as an illegal attack perpetrated by a sovereign nation. Sovereign nations may attack other nations if it is in their best interest. This is not illegal - it is a right of defensive posture.

The world court attempts to enforce "laws" on us. We are sovereign; therefore, we are held to no other rules than what we agree to in treaties. If we leave the world court, we're no longer held to its rules. All foreign bodies are voluntary. The United States government works for the interest of the American people, not for the world community.

Communism being spread in the western hemisphere is an aggressive move against the United States. Our democracy is threatened by communism. Therefore, we sought to destroy it during the cold war. Nicaragua was a part of that.

For those of you who oppose the United State's actions in Nicaragua, I wonder why you do. Would you have preferred that Nicaragua become communist? Do you like communism? Me, I'd rather be dead the Red. If you like communism, I wonder why. I've been over this in many posts and have proven that it cannot but fail.

Just because the american government didn't introduce Eddie to Stone and Jeff doesn't mean that Pearl Jam wasn't a by-God product of the freedom and cultural milieu that is patently American.

Nicaragua wanted to become communist but we armed the contras to fight them. Just because the Nicaraguans elected marxists doesn't matter to U.S. interests: we hate communism and it needed to stay the fuck away from us. We tried to stop communism from entering the western hemisphere because policymakers feared that strong communist sentiment could thereby enter the U.S. by proximity. If that happened, our democracy would be threatened. This was defensive. Obviously, you don't feel that communism was much of a threat - you probably would've preferred it to our current government, but that's too bad. Too many bad old capitalists like me, huh? :)

The Iranians tried to sink one of our warships. As far as I'm concerned, that's an act of war. We tried to send radio messages to the airplane but it didn't respond. Maybe Iran will think twice about fucking with our navy again.

We've taken accountability for the rest of the world's welfare.

if it was such a threat to us, why did congress make it illegal to finance them??? why did we have to resort to selling iran thousands of missiles to help finance it and violate several us laws in doing so?

Across the Atlantic, parallel developments were also taking place. On July 24, 1874 a Canadian patent was filed for the Woodward and Evans Light by a Toronto medical electrician named Henry Woodward and a colleague Mathew Evans. They built their lamps with different sizes and shapes of carbon filaments held between electrodes in glass globes filled with nitrogen. Woodward and Evans attempted to commercialise their bulb, but were unsuccessful. Nonetheless, Thomas Edison considered their approach sufficiently promising that he bought the rights to both their Canadian and US patents before embarking on his own light bulb development program.

Lincoln took away journalists' habeus corpus rights. So Reagan bent the rules. Big effing deal. I support Oliver North et al completely. They served their country when congress wouldn't. Some of the best presidents have opposed other branches of government directly and pushed the rules.

I happen to like TR much more than most presidents and would probably agree with a good bit of it, although certainly not all.

Helped Israel become a nation - dubious at best

Helped restructure Europe (you forgot Japan) - yes, that was unquestionably a good thing

Give billions in aid every year - I suspect we'd disagree on a lot of this, but that should be a thread in itself so I'll leave it alone.

What is a Fox News soundbite? And why are they singled out when you have ALL the other media soundbites being even MORE simplistic? Hell, screw the soundbites, look at the discourse. The idea that posters on a pj message board have somehow been able to break through the shackles of the corporate dominated society and have seen the "truth"...well...hehe....is pretty funny. There are plenty of people here who can tell you not only what they think, but they can tell you why they think it. There are others that merely echo what they've heard elsewhere, whether it's Fox or Rush or Franken or Moore ... they rarely if ever provide examples or explanations, they just say "The U.S. is the greatest country ever!" or "Israel is an evil occupying force!" or whatever their cause of the day is, but if they have any idea why they think those things, they don't share it with the rest of us. You know which people are which.

I'm not sure that addressed my point, but yes, I agree...there are plenty of musicians who don't think when it comes to politics, and merely echo what they hear...lack of originality.

My question is, is what is a fox news soundbite?
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things
