do you eat meat?

Some people go vegan for health reasons (you don't hear dieticians telling people to cut down on dairy for nothing), but for me it's not wanting to support any form of animal abuse. The dairy industry directly supports the veal industry which is easily one of the most cruel methods of "meat" production there is. Only lactating cows can be milked, so these cows are continually impregnanted so they can continue to be milked. If a male calve is born it's taken away from the mother often as early as 2 days old, stuck in a veal crate where it cannot move or even lie down, kept in the dark and fed a iron deficient diet so it's muscle stays tender and pale which is what people want on their plates sadly. The mother cow is pretty much a milk machine. Most of them spend their entire lives indoors or in individual pens. They are fed a steady diet of Bovine Growth Hormone to increase their milk production. This all takes a brutal toll on their bodies and often after only 4-5 years of this they are spent and are taken to slaughter (which in itself is terrible).
Egg laying hens are also victimized in ways you probably didn't know. In order to increase egg output they are stuffed into cages with each other having only enough space for themselves the size of a standard sheet of paper. They cannot flap their wings or move around. They are painfully debeaked so they don't peck each other to death as they go stir crazy in these cages. The cages are stacked on top of one another so the feces from the cages above drops on the hens below. Their lungs get burnt from all the ammonia fumes and their feathers fall off. The death rate while stuck in these cages can be high, but the egg output is also high so the egg producers are ok with the deaths. It is terrible torture and completely uneccesary. Eggs are useless and can be replaced in recipes by a variety of other ingredients.
The taste of something doesn't make torturing another living being ok. People get upset when they hear about a dog or cat being tortured (unless its for fur in China) but turn a blind eye towards cows and chickens, etc. It's just wrong.
Yeah... well that's a sad story and no doubt it's true. But I know exactly where I get my meat, milk, eggs etc. and none of that happens there.THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

this just reinforced my vegetarianism, i couldn't watch parts of it. just thought i'd post the link here because i can't even think straight right now, but i hate preaching, and don't want to send it to my friends (all of whom eat animals), so i thought i'd put it here and hear what you all had to say about it.

from everything i've read (and i'm in the business); you'd have to eat beans 24 hours a day to get the protien the body needs. i know someone with PKU and meat protien will kill them. they have to be veggie but the hospital supplies a suppliment which costs about $700 USD per week.
don't let videos scare you. i worked on the kill floor of a slaughter house and never saw anything i've seen in those propaganda videos. if we didn't manage animals by harvest they'd be extinct. we've already killed off the natural preditors; and taken their food (land) away building houses.0 -
meat is good.
veggies are better.

i eat meat sometimes, but not from kfc, and from now on will never eat meat or anything else from kfc
BUT bloody hell who are those kfc workers and managers????? those assholes... their minds need to be checked, the best option is to put them all in asylum. Seriously, what kind of a person agrees to work for such company?????
No living thing should be treated like this. Cruelty to animals & birds should be treated as criminal offence and people should be put to prison for mistreatment. This video just makes me really angry, and also makes me realise that some people have no heart.0 -

In PA, it's quite common in the fall/early winter to see several on one short road trip. This is the main reason why there is a Deer Season, and the local hunters are actually a benefit in helping the local game commission control the population. Maintaining a balance between the animal world and the human one is important.
If too many Deer run rampant, there would be more car accidents, more deer wandering into heavily populated areas, and if you understand the many possible detriments that would have, well, then you must have an understanding of why controlling certain animal populations is a necessity.
in illinois; 1941 i believe; the official report stated that there were 2 whitetail deer in the state. most starved to death because of overpopulation when people stopped hunting and started buying meat from stores. because of good management ie: hunting season; the population now thrives.0 -

I eat meat, no interest in not eating meat. I particularly enjoy eating beef, chicken, & deer. I have a connection for occasional deer meat when in-season, so I enjoy the hell outta that. I cooked deer tenderloin in the crock pot (slow cooker) and it was tender as pulled pork. Excellent.
IMO, it seems hunting would be far less offensive than stock that is raised simply to be slaughtered.Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?0 -

Oh yeah, seriously.
I understand the point of view of not eating meat, I just don't adhere to it. I don't think there's anything wrong with eating meat. However, I don't understand the logic of eating "these meats" but not "those meats," however. I'm not sure how somone could reconcile that (unless it was for taste or health reasons, as opposed to rights reasons).
Back in the day, there were those who would only eat hunted game (due to the natural leanings of hunting), but not eat meat from the store that was raised only to be slaughtered. I can respect that, too.Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?0 -
I'm very sorry to say but I do eat meat. However I only eat meat and meat products on which one cannot see/ find ''body-parts'', blood-vessels, bones... well any part which screams: I was once alive! So why do I eat meat? Because I'm weak and l'm a hedonist and I can't imagine myself never to eat some of my favourite meaty dishes. Sad/ laim but true.En mi vida,

i posted this link earlier but you may have missed it. http://www.eatwild.com the information there will be most helpful. i only eat buffalo raised naturally. i'll enjoy the occational elk but mostly buffalo. my health has improved greatly and i feel much better.
on the other hand; it's proven that a human cannot sustain life on a veggie diet. there's a suppliment you can buy for approximately $700 USD/month which will allow a veggie diet but why bother. check out that link for some good info. the name is misleading. it has more to do with beef; chicken and turkey than anything else. pm me if you'd like more info.0 -

Where exactly has that been proven? Can I get a link on that? My girlfriend is a seccond generation vegetarian, now vegan who is 26 years old and has little to no health problems. I've been vegetarian myself for two years and have not died yet, or paid 700 dollars a month. Care to back up your bullshit?0 -

my information comes from working with patients with PKU. i don't have the time to find links but that should help you. the nutritionalists at riverside hospital in indianapolis and st josephs childrens hospital in phoenix all say you cannot survive on a veggie diet unless you can eat beans 24 hours a day to get the necessary protien the body needs. thus the suppliment. the starvation of protien from the organs brings the largest amount of damage. the way it was explained to me is that the internal organs will consume themselves to provide the necessary nutrition to the brain. i don't know what you consider healthy or if you can see the damage yourself; but i'm repeating what i've been told by doctors and not some bullshit websites trying to sell something. i can make a website myself in 2 hours so take that for what it's worth.0
