That's what I thought. You can't defend Roe v. Wade either.

    Anybody else?

Looks like Roe v. Wade can constitutionally be overturned based on the debate in this thread.

For someone who claims to be a member of a Parish, you sure have a lot of contempt towards your fellow man.

From where does this come?........are you a member of a Parish because you can't find any other sort of fellowship?

Can you not simply go out and make friends in the secular world?

Abortion is legal and should be available to anyone who requires it under any circumstances. There is nothing "convenient" about being in a situation where you have to choose abortion over carrying a pregnancy to term. Abortion is just a surgical procedure. In most cases no more than a dilatation and curettage, the same procedure used to treat gynaecological problems in women. Perhaps we should all get up in arms and start protesting that removing cancer is "killing" a living organism and therefore immoral.

to me, abortion seems all about convenience...given all the other options.

and trust me...this isn't a sexist issue to me...i haven't wanted to be a father...and guess what...I'm NOT! wow. trust me, i'm not some pro-life walker, or even some zealot on the issue...but i think it's really pathetic that it would ever come down to that for someone. personal responsibility comes a long way...and yes, i think defining the point where life begins comes from conveniences.....just my take.
And you ask me what I want this year

Actually most of the country is religious, not secular.

You should try going out and making friends in the religious world, b/c most of the world is religious too. Haha

Only making friends in your own religion will just make you more narrow minded.

Do you realize there isn't that big of a gap in religious people voting for Bush vs. Gore or Kerry? (Fiorina 2001) Of course you don't b/c the media hypes up this religious bullshit.

Look Purple Hawk, I have no idea what you will all decide in America. But I do know that there has been a huge monopoly about the whole abortion debate here in Australia brought to us courtesy of Little Johnny and Tony Bloody Abbott and they are losing ground. Their religious and political ideology has been too closely linked to your Presidents for far too long. They have been hijacking the parliament with it. AND people here have had enough. Church and state should be separate. And a women's right to choose is and should continue to be enshrined in law. Now it may not happen there. But it will be happening here. Well nothing will change here.
    NOPE!!!

    Hold on to the thread

good luck with your protest....we are not on the same side, but i am happy we each have the right to voice our views.

Haha, a "woman's right to suck those brains out of her baby's head should continue to be enshrined in law." oops! I mean 'choose.'

Continue aborting your population, Australia. It's not getting any bigger if you noticed. Yep, your birthrate is dying too. There won't be any white people there anymore because the people coming in won't abort their babies! We conservatives ALWAYS win!

    Haha

Didn't know where you lived Jeanie...thought you were in the U.S....

the religious divide here is WAY overstated. it's mostly based on stereotypes.

to tell you the truth, i really don't care all that much about the abortion debate but I find that the Democrats over here are completely obsessed about it...so much so that they distort issues like embryionic stem cells vs adult stem cells...so much so that some manipulated poster residing in the horrible state of NJ actually said that embryionic stem cells are the ones that actualy work...when actually they have produced 0 cures, while adult stem cells have produced 72 cures.

both sides of the abortion debate raise an eyebrow, but the anti-life wing seems so agitated at little things like that, that it raises some suspiscion.

As you know, I've argued this to death in numerous other threads over the years, from the legal perspective as well as every other. I choose not to engage in conversation with GutYouLikeABarroomWhore because he is childish and uninformed, and often resorts to borderline-racist statements. He's an attention-seeking little boy and I'm not about to indulge him. Perhaps you and I could discuss it another time.

I hope one day the pro-life movement realizes how fucking stupid and backwards it is.

As for religion, stupidity runs deep in the human species.

That's great that you have always been a responsible adult when engaging in sexual activities and fantastic that it's never come back to bite you on the bum. But what difference does it make to a 12 year old girl molested by her step dad and pregnant or to a young women drugged and date raped by her college boyfriend and pregnant at what point life begins? They are entitled to the best medical attention they can get and they are entitled to choose to abort. And there's nothing "convenient" about allowing them the option. It is a basic medical procedure and their right to choose.

My point is: conservatives always win because liberals commit suicide on a national scale.

If your society aborts all of its children, it can't sustain itself, whereas these third world societies have all of their babies and they're growing in numbers.

They win! Too bad for you libs!

STILL having trouble arguing for Roe v. Wade? Or do you have any idea what Roe v. Wade said?

Maybe you should stick to Canadian politics and poker. Huh?

Except all their babies die from malnutrition because they can't sustain themselves.

these incidents you raise are rare, and I can see the case for abortion in each of them.. and i actually am pro-abortion in here...but trust me..they are less than 1% of all abortions....but be that as it may...to be philosophical....

say someone on the street gives you a package and says that within 6 months, this will be a human being...you have the decision...

    what choice do you make?

It really doesn't matter what Roe v. Wade said, the pro-life arguments are stupid.

The fact is, if certain women can't abort legally, they will do it illegally, if they can't do it illegally, they will chuck the actual baby in the trash or in the river.

    Would you rather that?

That's that smart Canadian logic you're using as opposed to my stupid American thinking. We Americans are so stupid, right?

    Haha

I mean, yeah, Roe v. Wade doesn't matter even though it only legalized abortion, right? It doesn't have anything to do with this discussion right?

I can't speak to that. I can only speak in terms of the constitution since we are discussing Roe v. Wade in this thread.
