Damn from getting upset about apparent rudeness to hate now. You're an interesting character...
he's just got it out for me for some reason. i don't know why but i don't hold it against him. some day he'll PM me and we'll work it out. for right now; the hate is directed at me.

I wasn't directing it at you, dude. I have no hate for you. I have no hate for anyone in particular. I hate some of the "types" of thinking here. Well, I hate it in most political proccesses, especially when you get no-brains like you-know-who into the mix. And that's inevitable.
It's just apparent that to some posters in this thread that the Clinton proposition seems like a racially motivated vote-getting scheme that some think are fair and others think are just political.
This board has a lot of stupid people. I'm not one of them.
come on gue. we all see that hillary is playing robin hood and wants to take from the rich and give to the [minority] poor. she's buying votes. promising minorities money if they vote for her.
i have a lot of doctors and i consider all of them rich. they flaunt it quite well. not one is white though. most are indian and 2 are black. the indian doctors send their money back to india. how does hillary's plan work when the wealthy send money out of the country? it doesn't. her plan only takes money from americans who keep their money in the country; not americans who send their money back to their native countries.
encouraging savings is not a bad thing. it sounds like the contributions tax payers make are matched up to the first $1k. it is only encouragine people to save at least $1k/year on their own to their respective 401k accounts.
i have no problem with this costing $25b/year, considering it looks like the iraq war has already cost ~$430b so far.

Well, sometimes the situation calls for taking from the rich and giving to the poor.
Pardon my replies on here though, I got focused on one other aspect of the politics being played here.

i'm sorry then. i've gotten a lot of personal attacks from you in the past and thought you had a problem with me. i like everyone and accept them for who and what they are. my opinions are not popular most of the time but others have not lived my life so i can't expect others to agree.
i've got a few "you know who's" too but i still like everyone. sometimes they're just having a bad day. right now the morphine is making me ramble on so i'll just say sorry i misunderstood.
If your friend could afford the dorsal column stimulator in the US, she could certainly afford to pay for it privately in Italy. That's right, people can choose there, but they don't have to.
I won't even dignify those ignorant stereotypes you put out with an answer.
Know1: what is decent is certainly controversial. For me, a decent system is one where people are not forced to work into very old age to survive.
i said she's in bed. she can't work. she paid taxes to italy for healthcare and is getting the run-a-round.
i'm currently arranging to fly her here to see a specialist at my own expense but she's fighting me. i will make sure she gets what she needs. i take care of my friends and that's why i decide how i spend my money.
The way i see it... we are all paying taxes, right? I would much rather see our taxes being spent here in America.. helping AMERICANS... rather than shovelling our taxes into the pockets of foriegn Presidents and Oil Shieks.
And I also believe in the premise that the strong should help the weak. I think people end up being poor... rather than it being a choice. I have NEVER heard any person say, "I want to live in poverty when I grow up". And there are a lot of people who live paycheck to paycheck and are one auto accident away from financial ruin... one slip up from becoming homeless. Sure, people make some bad decisions... some horrible decisions... and yes, they should hold themselves accountable for their poor decisions and choices. But, I also believe that those whom haven't ended up in poverty should give the ones who have fucked up in the past... a hand up.
It's like here at work... they are Welfare Mothers who should have kept their damn legs shut all year around... except at Christmas... when they become 'Families In Need' and we feel good about ourselves for our charity and helping strangers at Chistmas... is that so, we don't feel guilty about shitting on them the other 364 days?
...
And finally... Rich equates to successful? Wealth is something to be respected? You mean like Paris Hilton? Anna-Nicole Smith? That 24,000 dollar hand bag made from White Siberian Tiger on Paris' arm can feed a few folks who are down on their luck... and she probably wouldn't feel a dent in her financial situation.

I am sorry about your friend.
It's a shame she can't get what she needs.
I also find it interesting that she is resisting you, and that she has a problem getting from a friend (or from anyone) what she thinks is her right.
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

this is a great flip side to the libertarian point of view (not in a negative way). both sides making making excellent points. good post cosmo.
At one time average Americans were satiated and controled with patriatism, and the public could be swayed into production by participation in war. This participation led to domestic booms and people were happy and therefore worked hard. Problem at this time is, other than Britney Spears and arms, nobody wants what America is producing and the efficiency is terrible. Terrible efficiency could be tolerated as long as the American economy was growing, but the only thing growing right now is the amount of money being printed by the federal reserve. Wallstreet looks good and people are making money, but with a sinking currency it means little since the cost of living is going up and wealth is relative to other world markets.
Poor people are the first ones to suffer when an economy takes a hit, and I suspect that this type of program is being designed to stave off a potentially nasty waves of depraved baby boomers looking to retire in the next few years.
At a cost of $20 billion-$25 billion a year, the plan is Clinton's largest domestic proposal other than her plan for universal health insurance. The New York senator said it would be paid for by taxing estates worth more than $7 million per couple and would help narrow the gap between the rich and those who don't have enough savings for retirement.
the greatest good for the greatest number never caught on in the US.

This sounds all nice but you are wrong. I'll give you an example Boeing vs. Airbus. American company vs a French company. you like to make blanket statements like nobody wants what America is producing and efficiency is terrible. care to elaborate on that?
the american dollar is weak, yes, no doubt about that. but that can also be a benefit to the US. It is now more attractive for foreign countries to purchase from the US. This will increase manufacturing, innovation, jobs, etc..
One thing killing the economy is the amount of money the government is spending. the Iraq war spending for example.
the one thing keeping the economy stable is low inflation. If the dollar loses favor, because of domestic inflation, foolish foreign policies, deficits, runaway government spending and size, the world's OPINION will cause a currency such as the dollar to lose favor and become weak. America has filled all of the above requirements to lose favor and have a weak currency.
Poor people are the first ones to suffer when an economy takes a hit, and I suspect that this type of program is being designed to stave off a potentially nasty waves of depraved baby boomers looking to retire in the next few years.
I should let the libertarians handle this one. Universal healthcare would benefit these depraved baby bombers more then a few thousand bucks. why not let the government decide for me right?

Thanx. I don't really know what I am... I always consider myself as pretty much Middle Of The Road. I believe people are more important than money... and that people want to succeed, but fail due to a myriad of reasons. Instead of pounding on them when they're down... how about offering them a hand up? If they become dependant on you, then let them go. But, just because there are (and always be) those who cheat the system, it is irresponsible to toss out the entire system. Just go after the cheaters and help the ones who are really just looking for help. And the bottom line... they are Americans.
But, one thing I know I am not... a slave to either one of our horrid Political Parties. I will vote for Republican or Democrat or Independent if I believe in the candidate, not the political party. But, the basic choice we are always left with is a like a choice between shit or crap. n that case, you go with the one you fee will do the least amount of damage to America.

Emerging markets worldwide have no interest in poorly made, prehistoric American goods(other than weaponry). American consumerism is not sustainable and when the domestic markets implode, I suspect that is when the real chaos begins.
If we have to settle for the tax burden we're being saddled with, I can see you point. I just think it is fucking sad that we settle for it.
...
I don't mind paying taxes... because I happen to like the Interstate Highway system. And I like having an Army and Air Force and I know that C-17 Transports and B-2 Bombers cost a lot of money. I like having one agency that regulates air traffic because I have a feeling that Louisiana and Mississippi would probably have a pretty shitty system in place.
I just WISH... there wasn't all of the bullshit spending.
...
Taxes are not the problem... SPENDING is. Blaming Taxes is like you blaming your paycheck for not covering your expenses. Cut your expenses and the problem goes away.
And the only difference the 2 political parties have regarding taxes... Democrats are Tax and Spend, while Republicans are Don't Tax and Spend.

I gave you a perfectly good example why you are wrong. Boeing and Airbus. Emerging markets and well as firmly established markets are interested in American goods. partly because of quality, partly because its cheaper due to your friend, the weak dollar.

I understand there are certain things the federal government needs to provide. I also understand that there is bullshit spending driving the taxes. But our apathy has allowed the feds to reach ever more deeply and spend ever more lavishly. Taxes and spending are not mutually exclusive. They feed off of each other. You tried the analogy about the paycheck not covering expenses. That analogy would work as long as the recipient of the paycheck were a normal Joe with little control over the size of the paycheck. But why focus in on spending when you can just grow your paycheck through threat of force?

This is the same doom and gloom anti-capitalists have been spewing for decades, as our markets have continued to reach record levels. If it makes you feel better, carry on. But the reality is that talking about domestic markets imploding only makes you sound like chicken little. Jlew talked about Boeing. The EU is scareled shitless of Microsoft's success and has tried to punish efficiency and innovation through financial sanctions. There are many inneficiencies in manufacturing in this country thanks to unions, but innovation and technology continues to be advanced here and exported.
