Communist or not, do you realise it's in people's best interests to grow at their own pace and evolve naturally, rather than have alien ideas manipulated (ie: forced either overtly or covertly) into their mindsets?

  • I don't get you.

    You claim to be anti-capitalistic
 I don't recall giving myself a label

What I meant is a country, the richest country in the world apparently, where you have to have two jobs to get yourself through college OR join the army  and where you have to put your house up for a second mortgage to pay for your healthcare... hardly sounds idealistic to me :o but then that's just me, right? We have free education here... we don't have free healthcare but nobody would be forced to declare themselves bankrupt over medical bills  that's just wrong in ANY country. Ireland's far from perfect, we have our problems here too... but you don't hear many other countries saying how we need to free Cuba from this evil dictator... what exactly is so evil about the lifestyle over there I'd love to know... apart from our own ideals.
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
    Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
    Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
    Chicago 07? And love
    What a different life
Had I not found this love with you

sure, but I dont see how having a new dictator accomplishes that

Sure you get the choose who your leader is, but you only have 2 maybe three choices. Woohoo democracy

yeah, it's pretty much two choices and both are pretty much the same. pick your poison is the slogan for american democracy.

The point here is that it's not about what you want or what you think is in their best interests, it's about what they want and what they think is in their best interests. Do you agree?

    hmmm... jlew? ncfan? nothing?

funny, im guessing these two have never even been to a latin american country, or if they have they never, as you pointed out, left their american resort.

I never responded because the poster assumes that "America" "made" Puerto Rico the way it is... and I have no evidence to support or contradict that.

Furthermore, the poster never stated exactly what America did to make Puerto Ricans poor and addicted to drugs...

Maybe if they gave examples of policy i could rebute. But it looks to me they just blamed America for the choices of Puerto Ricans.

Eye witness? Someone living through it? Sounds good enough to me. I don't think this poster said 'made'....

you people? what do you mean "you people"?

    haha j/k

The number is not even that significant, but at least have real choices, runners that are not the same, people that represent the real america, not just corporate america.

    That would make me happy.

my guess is that you would never be happy who was in there. but thats ok, I'm happy you get to feel any way you want about candidates and elected officials. you cant do that in cuba.

It's good enough for you because you agree with the poster. It's not good enough for me because I disagree. Therefore, if he is going to convince me of anything he needs to cite what America has done wrong. he just can't say American capitalism sucks becuase we have McDonalds on our corners, and our schools suck and our people are strung out on drugs.

Maybe my head is stuck in the sand, but I don't recall America doing anything to create these problems in Puerto Rico.

bad guess, I fully supported nader, the best that I could. I wanted him to be president, but of course I knew the system would never allow it. He even had so much trouble getting on ballots. the dems tried everything to push him away.

point is, sure america may be better than the cuba in that sense, but it's sooooooooo far from being good itself. American democracy is a joke.

the fact that nadar or even the great MrBrian can run for president makes me enjoy american democracy. my guess is right, you'll never be happy. which makes me sad cheer up pal, its not so bad around here

I can never run for president, I was not blessed with an american birth ;)
Point about americas democracy is this, unless you are have corporate interests in mind, unless you have multi millions of dollars, you can never win.

The best candidate does'nt win, the most corrupt does. or something along those lines.

I think you might want to talk to Ahnimus about determinism, and about whether or not MrBrian really can run for president (edit: or could have, were he born in America), given the variables of his life. (hint: the idea is a bit of an illusion that keeps people feeling potent when they are not really so potent. ).

Yeah, I just noticed, and went in to edit the post.

But again, do you think YOU can become president in your land of opportunity, or can you see that it's a bit of a myth that keeps people feeling free and happy?
