and so are you probably every time you drive, cross the street, download music, etc ... is one law more relevant than another ... what about the companies that hire these immigrants ... do they not foster some unlawfulness?

this is what painting a broad brush does ... it generalizes but in the end we don't get to the crux of the issue/problem ...

The companies foster some of the unlawfulness as well. I do not download music illegally. I cross at crosswalks the majority of the time and I do not drive fast. Too damn much traffic around here. Illegal immigrants are breaking the law by being in the country. It is who they are. They bring the crime rate up for people because 100% of them are breaking the law 100% of the time. Trying to deny the criminal activity of an illegal immigrant shows a lack of vocabulary more than anything else.

i think it has more to do with putting a perspective on things ... we could go on about illegal things that every person does or even the government does - but really, we aren't gonna get anywhere ...

it is not a black and white issue ...

It is a black and white issue when we are talking about immigration. You are either here legally or illegally.

I'm not sure where you fall on this subject. ;) :

"Places where oral sex is illegal: Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah, Virginia and Washington D.C." Hopefully oral sex isn't "who" you are. ;)

That's a lot of oral sex if they are constantly having to hide from the law enforcement, 100% of the time, in order to go on with their lives.

how about: "An erection that shows through a man's clothing is illegal in: Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington D.C. and Wisconsin".

If you walk around the streets with an erection 100% of the time, you should probably see a doctor. This is much like, if you are in this country illegally 100% of the time, you should probably start the process of becoming legal, or find a spouse.

And, just for the record, I think that all of these laws that you are citing here are really really stupid laws that need to be repealed. That is a different issue though. At least I can see that better than most here who see legal and illegal immigration as the same thing.

The point is, if you have any inclination for oral sex, or have erections that may be noticed through your clothing, that is inherent to you--it's who you are.

I see what you are trying to get at but we have two completely different things here. We are talking about somebody who is breaking the law constantly, having to hide from law enforcement because they are not forcibly contributing to the society like the rest of us. You are bringing up stupid little laws that have not been enforced for years and point out the laziness of our lawmakers in this country. There is not one law there that is analogous to illegal immigration. The law is not against having any inclination for oral sex nor is it having ever had an erection. The law is having proper papers to reside in, work in and share in the benefits of this country at all times.

At this point in time I am not breaking any laws. The illegal immigrant working in the kitchen of the bar downtown is though. ;)

I'm not going to disagree with you that the illegal immigrant working in the bar is breaking the law - as is the bar itself, more seriously if you ask me. I am going to disagree with you when you say that that illegal immigrant isn't "forcibly contributing to ... society." He's working, after all. Perhaps I just don't get what you mean by "forcibly."

If they are being paid cash, its probably that small inconvenience known as taxes.

Okay, I'll give you that you are probably not constantly having erections which show through your clothes (a guess). I suspect that you also don't continuously partake of oral sex. But there's no denying that if you do partake of it AT ALL, you are breaking the law. If you intend to do it in the future, you intend to break the law.

We all have our judgments of the law and it's not up to 'common folk' to decide which ones are silly and to be broken and which ones are valid. Except, of course, there are proper channels we can take to make an issue of these laws, if one so chooses. Are you suggesting breaking them as the solution? And if so, do you feel you are equipped to judge others, then, when they break a law you believe in?

I do agree with you, however, that breaking the law is an issue, and there is a difference between a legal and an illegal immigrant.

I agree that the bar is breaking the law and I can also agree that it is more serious since they are aiding a criminal and providing incentive for the activity. By forcibly contributing... I was referring to the amount of taxes that we pay into the system.

I gotcha. Some illegal immigrants do pay taxes, though. It depends of the sophistication of their illegality. As for the others, why wouldn't someone as anti-tax as yourself be rooting for them - in a "man, wish it was me - way to buck the system" sort of way?

a joke, of course. sometimes I just don't like the look of those little smiley faces.

Well...then this is one law that I do break. Not 100% of the time though! ;-)

Just wanted to reply to one of your posts Angelica. Hope you are well!

basically if you're living your life focusing on the pigmentation of your own skin and the pigmentation of other peoples skin you're a fucking loser and you're probably a pretty stupid one at that.

I sincerely hope you are not refering to me with that comment. I don't and have NEVER judged people on the basis of their pigmentation. I never suggested that people should do either. If that was just a general opinion then I agree with you completely.
