After learning that the Superdome repairs cost approx. $175 million, and that FEMA (aka me and your tax $) paid $160 million towards that, and the NFL contributed ONLY $15 million, i have decided to never watch another NFL event. I think it is flat out fucking disgusting that the NFL only kicked in less that 10% of the $ needed, and FEMA gave $160 million when houses are still not being built? I persoanlly think they should have paid the entire bill, because they are such a succesful business. I mean $175 million is chump change for that league and its EXTREMELY wealthy owners. Not to mention all the tax $ they have used to build their state of the art stadiums. Not to mention the extreme salaries these guys are making ($10 million a year for throwing a football when teachers in this country can barely make it day to day)

I know it is tough for some to do, i have grown up watching and playing football all of my life. Sunday's in my home were reserved for football, I watch monday night footabll like most everyone else, and I of course party it up for the super bowl like the rest of the country. But, i can only take so much greed, and i have had enough, no more of my money for these greedy fucks. I am through.

The Washington Redskins franchise is currently valued at OVER $1 BILLION DOLLARS? you cant tell me that federal tax $ had to go to the stadium when houses are still not being built?

    WHO IS WITH ME?

LMAO!! Why should anyone other then themselves be responsible for standing on their own two feet...I've spent much time watching Spike Lee's take on the Levee's, have been reading much information on what went on, helped Katrina Evacuee's here in Denver, and all's I can think "the government should have been there to help these people get temporary shelter, food, emergency funds, but beyond that, thats as far as it should go." Sure people have lived there all their lives, and know nothign else, but as far as I'm concerned, these people all knew the danger of their location, it was their choice to live in an area where flooding, hurricanes, etc are a mojaor concern! The government is not responsible for building these peoples houses, I can't beleive people think this is the governments responsibility.

I agree that people knew they were living below sea level in a hurricane zone. no one forced them to live there. but the government does have a responsiblity to help its citizens in time of disaster. to what extreme is debatable, but something has to be done from them

The levees were designed by the government - and then improperly built. If a contractor built your house, and it collapsed because the foundation was shit, shouldn't the contractor be held responsible?

I usually agree with what you have to say. But we all knew that this day was coming before the season started. So I have to ask:

Will we all be getting a bye when we have to play you in the NFL pool that you started because you are deleting your team? :)

By the way. How did that week one loss taste? ;)

Just trying to keep it real.

1: i will see you on the rebound in the league

    2: elway is a fucking bum :)

3:i will be finishing what i started, it doesnt contribute financialy to the NFl so i fel no remorse kicking your ass in fantasy football :)

For the amount of up to but not exceeding 10 years here in the state of CO (concerning the foundation/contractor point which is ludacris); hey, these people "KNEW THE LEVEES WERE NOT GOOD ENOUGH!"

What the fuck? it only takes a few people to say hey, fix this fucking thing (levee's) to start a movement...It's laziness on the account of all...Move the FUCK OUT OF NO!!!! ITS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN!!!! And this next time I wont volunteer weeks and weeks of help and employment to these people...YOUR ASKING FOR IT!!!!!!!!

This was one of the biggest storms ever...do you really think any levee system would have stood up to this storm?

and another thing, FEMA should have rebuilt this fucker, cause' when it happens again, everyone will run their assess off to the superdome!!!! Think about it! If you owned the saints and the superdome and FEMA took over occupency to shelter those who could not get out, dont you think FEMA would be responsible for the building during the time of it's tenancy??? I know every lease I ever sign to my rentors states this very thing about 100 times

No. I was asking denver man what he thought of the orange and blues massive win the other night. See that is what I like about the NFL. A week three game can mean a whole lot to the grand scheme of things. :) Since this is a NFL thread. I thought I would inject some pigskin talk.

People have been saying it. Unfortunately they fall under the jurisdiction of the Army Corps of Engineers, who didn't really do anything about it.

And yes, I think the levee system would have performed better if built correctly.

But it's good to hear that you care. Bye-bye now.

Yeah right, it would have been far too much to ask to the citizens of NO to ban together and start a movement to get the levee's rebuilt...alls it would have taken was these people saying, we're not giving you our tax dollars until this thing is taken care of! You dont think the GUVMENT would have moved their asses! Their all lazy!

Whatever. You know, Colorado floods quite a bit I hear. And that GUVMENT you speak of even broke down and used OUR tax dollars to build you guys a damn. Perhaps you shouldn't be living in such a fucked up place yourself.

The biggest difference is that they spent their money on the dam instead of spending it on...I can't really figure that part out.

This is not the fault of the average New Orleans resident. It's more just what has become normal in Louisiana government.

I live in CO for many reasons, and yes one of them is fact that I sit atop the US! No Floods here!
