yes mexican drug lords. there practically is a war going on in northern mexico right now. but I do not see them taking over the country as being realistic. but mexico is known for being extremely corrupt and dysfunctional, so anything is possible.

again and again, I am talking hypothetically when it comes to a country invading us. with no defense, there is nothing to stop a country from doing so. and for some reason, you keep searching for an answer, "why would they do that?" stop thinking you are going to get an acceptable answer here. there are none. here's a reason. because they can. (if we had no military)

we are obviously protected by 2 oceans. invading us is not an option.

a military however prevents and discourages a country from attacking us. and again, we do not need be be so far ahead of other countries. and we do not need to be involved so much in other countries.

sure they are. but i think they would be able to back them up when they trach my opinion. the thing is most around here sate shit they beleive, and they have no idea why they believe it, or they have little to back it up. i a mlooking for real discussion here. i wish someone could change my mind why we need this global military. this shit isnt a movie. the missiles are real. and the targets are real. and the guy at the desk right now sitting 12 inches from that button is real. too real.

so that is the 2nd time you have said to get off my high horse for stating my opinion. you see the obvious hipocricy.

i stated my opinion, you disputed it, i asked you to back it up, and have failed to do so. that is called discusion and debate. i am not mad at you brother. i am not upset? and i support your right to your own opinion. but i think your opinion is real fucking dangerous. we have 300 million americans walking around thinking it is a great idea to have this massive military with 10,000 nuclear weapons so they can feel safe sitting in their chicago suburbian neighborhood where all the fences match and pooper scoopers are required. i think they are pussies. i think they have been lied to. i think they suck it up like cold water on a hot day. and i think they have nothing at all to back it up. and i think this is real fucking dangerous, for the entire planet and civilization. they see the littering of ther planet with weapons good for peace and security. i see the obvious flaw, and threar posed, by this kind of thinking. call it what you want, but i believe i am on the right side of history.

and like i said beofre. i dont take any of this personally. i like political discussion and this is a cool place to do that. thats why we are both here. i support you right to an opinion, and i am willing to fight for that right for you,and i dont judge you for views. unfortunately most have the same view as you. i am sure your a good guy, just like 99% of the folks around here, no matter which side of the fence. i dont walk around arguing with people. i drink, i some, i lugh and have a good time.just like you. i dont live in a commune or drive a VW bus.

Funny how you talk as if you're some expert on geopolitical affairs, and continue to ignore reality. In post #9 you talk about man's nature. I completely disagree with your premise. You build your philosophy on the notion that man is inherently peace-loving. I (and other "armchair generals") build our philosophy on the notion that we have always, and will always see groups and nations struggling for power over one another.

You are welcome to your pipe dream. I would hate to disabuse you of that belief. But just because you choose to ignore millenia of data to the contrary and think we don't need to defend ourselves, doesn't mean the rest of us are obligated to do so.

its nice to make up numbers? currently spending will be around 650 billion which is because we are currently fighting 2 wars. when we leave Iraq, spending will drop. just as it has after all other wars.

Skills? Insulting and degrading people is all of a sudden a measurable skill? In that case, you my friend, have MAD SKILLS!

So this was just one big quiz where you asked a question to which you already had an answer in mind, and because nobody answered "correctly" you're the only one with geo-political sense?

You must work for the media. You took less than one line from my post and twisted that to appear as if I said these are THE threats. Please read the posts, don't just look at the words. What I said in a nutshell, was that they are POTENTIAL THREATS AND IF THEY UNITE, THERE COULD BE TROUBLE AND IT ONLY MAKES SENSE TO BE PREPARED. You ask how that could happen? Answer this: how could four planes be hijacked and get flown all over the North East for 45 minutes and then crash into three buildings? It's not a question of how. The how doesn't matter. It's the IF. So rather than claiming that people have no geo-political sense, how about using some common sense yourself and use your brain instead of your emotions to get your point across.

To me, the bottom line is that the US had pissed off a lot of countries. Those countries are angry and they hate the USA. If they could attack the US they would. One of the reasons they don't (aside from the fact that they can't) is that they know they'll get their asses kicked. As soon the US cuts back on it's "insurance policy," it's all over.

You are not the only person who's entitled to an opinion, and bullying other posters doesn't make your opinion any more valid.

    Your shit is week son.

I was not talking about what caused WWI and WWII. I was talking about the condition of our military at the beginning of those wars. At the beginning of both of those conflicts we had a small poorly funded poorly equiped military.

Currently there is not a nation with a military to threaten to the US. But that is currently. Stuff can change pretty fast. Look at history. How long did it take Hitler to build his war machine.

Further back how long did it take Spain to become the world power and look at how short there time at the top lasted. How long did it Napoleon to build an Army that took over most of Europe.

What makes you think that in 10 to 15 years there will not be another power to threaten the US. Our technology edge is quickly fading. And there are a lot of short sited wishfull thinkers like you that think if we can just get ride of the Army war will go away.

I am telling you by the year 2020 there will be a military power equal to or greater than ours. Some of you probable like that, but knowing history it scares me.
    Peace through superior firepower!

    Bite me. :p

Lyrics can often express an emotion or thought better than or perhaps more artistically than we could ourselves. Why would you get annoyed because someone chose to express themselves differently than yourself. I love sharing a nicely written piece of music with people...it doesn't bother me in the least that you choose not to, however.
