I always found that humorous as well. It was common opinion here that I was the only person remotely intrigued by the idea of determinism, so any 3rd party interest, simply, must be me posing as a 3rd person. In actuality, the concept of determinism is quite popular amongst philosophical and scientific groups.

    See?

I don't even know what that means.

And not in whole, but largely. Since a child will be more apt to waver under social pressure than parental pressure.

My social identity was fairly well formed long before I got to school.

Anyway, it was bloody months ago, so I can't remember how it went.

I like people for who they are, not how they look. :)

And besides, I don't think it would be possible for you to look any better than you did without being Eddie Vedder himself. And he always looks so lovely based on who he is. :)

I think people interpret their own gender in a personal way, regardless of society. At a young age.

My sister in law is having the same eye opening situation at the moment with my nephew!! :D

Not so sure about early interpretations of my own sexuality or gender. Don't really remember much. But I do remember being very sociable at times as a very small child, and also being a ratbag, highly fanciful and imaginative and very hyperactive. :)

so, gender awareness is sexual awareness, in a way?

i dunno. i'm not sure about that.

Anyhoo, no biggy. So we are agreeing that kids become aware of their gender at an early age. :)

Even as a kid, she was put-offish, like being a kid wasn't good enough for her.

She liked me, for some reason. It was sexual in nature. She was threatened yet enthralled, all at once.

i think society determines gender identification. it's fine when youre a little kid but as you grow up and develop physically you are restrained from doing what you had been doing for years previously with no problem. now all of a sudden what you considered natural is wrong. remember being told, girls dont do that. or boys dont behave like that?
    hear my name

    yeah.

but i had such a strong identification with my own personal gender at such a young age, i don't think those rules applied to me much.

Well I can agree with that too cate. But I do believe that small children have an understanding of their gender from an early age. Of course societal influences come along and mess with that, but I do recall very vaguely before then. :)

It's sad when people can't go to something because they are attracted for the right reasons.

But then I probably shouldn't judge, I am also attracted to weird and wonderful things because of my self interpretation. :)
