And the reason is cos the women are too busy bringing up the future world leaders to actually have some ambition of their own.

Ah, so you claim that men are as they are because of women. I disagree

Personally, I think us men should use all this testosterone for positive things.

Like taking all that testosterone and focusing it on humping and pleasing our girlfriends/wives.

Maybe it's just me, but seems like a much more worthwhile activity than any of this other crap.

    Honestly???

Well, whilst I AM saying it in a joking manner, I don't know how anyone can get offended with me pointing out the fact that it's a mans world... are you? I mean, whatever about in our countries, women have it pretty easy compared to in the rest of the world, but we're still not equal. I often remind myself how lucky I was to have been born in Ireland... location shouldn't determine equality though in my opinion.

So yeh, honestly I apologise if I offended anyone... but if I DID offend anyone, dont ya think you're a little easily offended?

That's strange, for someone as deterministic as you I would have thought you would like the idea of hormonal balance as being a strong behavior factor. And high levels of testosterone is accountable for agressivity, search for domination, and sex (I don't have time to find articles, but looking for testosterone levels + behavior in pub med should find you clear enough reviews). Also alcohol tends to affect your hormonal levels, and may get your testosterone level higher, it's accountable for sex drive and violence that can be observed in drunk people (rats in the studies in general, but we all saw these drunken dicks in real life maybe even been one once!).
So basically, without control, men tend to search for power more than women. It's not true for all men, nor for all women, but biologically it's this way, and biologically again it makes sense.
Now I would advise the same as NMyTree!

I'm not offended. I'm concerned for the effect of such generalizations. Also it is factually inaccurate. In what possible way is this a man's world?

During adolescence the brain is 'pruned' after a thickening of the frontal cortex. Society in general has preset models for sexes that does this brain pruning. I mean, if we can just come to the agreement that the brain is the source of "Self" as I don't see any other possibility and I think it's absolutely absurd to think otherwise in the context of social progress. Any other explanation lacks any value to understanding. Then we must say the self is a product of the brain. Then we get into hormones and see a very deterministic system, wherein men and women have different strengths and weaknesses. Brain pruning and training has a lot to do with those strengths and weaknesses.

The only way this is a man's world is in a historical sense. Because originally in ancient times all the Gods were women. The highest of Gods was a woman. Women were strongly revered as important to the tribe. The makers of life. Much of our modern symbolism like the Heart shape originates from female sex worship. But at some point in history a web of myths were patched together by influential men. Atum and Eva who were equals "in the sky" became Adam and Eve where Adam was superior in "paradise". Sexism became ingrained into the learned perception of reality for almost 2,000 years. I think you are also writing a script by making blanket statements about society.

That reminds me, I was on a bar crawl a few weeks ago and I ran into a black dude. I asked him if he runs into racism in London and he said "Yea, but not everyone is racist." and then I ran into another dude later on, and asked him the same question, he answered "Nah, it's all in how you look at it dude."

Does the fact that a woman was the CEO of the last company I worked for mean that it's a woman's world? Is it just that women tend to go on maternity leave, which interrupts their careers and makes it difficult for them to be promoted, even if the company wanted to, she's not there to be promoted. Is that man's fault?

Let's be realistic. If men are wired to be more assertive and women are wired to be more considerate. Who's fault is that? How is it anyone's world, when everyone just behaves according to what they are? This is why I don't understand statements like "It's a man's world" it implies that someone is to blame, or that it could or would be different. Also consider if you are looking at this from a first person perspective. If you were a Hindu in N. America you might think this is a Christian world. If you are native, it's a white man's world. If you are a white man, it's a minority world. Seriously.

And perhaps I do take a bit of offense to the statement. I am a man, and I do not feel in any way that this world or society in general belongs to my gender. You know what I would love. I would love to be able to have children virtually any time I want. I'd love to be able to raise children without having to work and just collect mother's allowance, child-support and welfare, while living in subsidized housing. One of my friends was raising 2 kids in a 3 bedroom townhouse for $180/month, but was collecting sufficient enough social assistance to purchase new furniture and appliances every month. Far better than I can do alone, working 9 to 5, paying $700/month in bills for a one bedroom apartment and hoping I don't accidently become a cash donor for a bastard child. Then I'd be one of those guys that works 16 hour days and 8 hours on weekends. I would be a complete slave then.

So at what point do men get all this luxury of it being a man's world?

    What is wrong?

And... I've actually communicated a lot with one particular single mother and tried to help her improve her relationship with her hyperactive daughter. She managed perfectly to maintain happiness and is the woman I mentioned with the 2 kids. She has been in a 7 year abusive relationship and moved to a city away from him. But she was always happy and got by better than most people. You seem to have some kind of attitude problem which probably makes raising children quite difficult. Since you act as a behavior model for them and if you can't understand the irrational nature of a child then your gonna have a lot of trouble.

I don't mean to be hostile, but 55% of communication is body language and another chunk is tone which we can't account for by plain text. So we use capital letters to emphasize shouting and emoticons to represent facial expressions and body language. The  emoticon emplies to me a very rude and snobby attitude. Something that would be quite unacceptable in any kind of mature discourse. Perhaps you have some evidence or logical argument that will prove me wrong, I would like to see them.

Not to pick a fight with you, but isn't that a personal anecdote and therefore not considered evidence of a statistical norm? I'm sure you'd pick the rest of us up on it, so I'm sure you won't mind if I remind you. :)

:D I will continue to communicate here the way I always have... most people don't have a problem with it.

So ok, you know and have communicated with one single mother? She genuinely does sound like a great person and she's done a wonderful job of juggling all that while maintaining her happy self.

I don't have kids, not sure I ever want em and I've never been a single mother obviously. But I know lots and lots of them. I don't have an attitude problem... I'm just in touch with reality and while many many people do a great job of raising kid(s) on their own, it's far from easy. I think nature made it a 2 person job because for most people, 2 people are needed to raise a kid. I think most single parents (apologies for the use of mother, implying there aren't single fathers out there) will admit they needed help.
