Have you ever been to the US Byrnzie? It's true that the police sometimes lose sight of right and wrong, but in each of those links you provided, those people were released and most of them had or will have their vindication in court.
That's hardly oppression in fact not even close to it. I've seen with my own eyes plenty of protests protesting everything from the war to a supermarket chain.
Meanwhile, 2 hrs south of me is a country where public protesting is simply against the law and often those people don't get their vindication in a court of law or their stories sympathetically printed in the news. Wasn't too long ago that the Tijuana police department was randomly pulling over tourist vehicles, taking the women to a nearby hotel and gangraping them.
Do you understand the difference? I've lived here all my life and have never spent a day living in fear of the government. I'm just curious to know when it was that you were here and were oppressed by the gestapo.0 -

I've been to the U.S five times. And those links I provided are just a handful. I could have posted about 100 more.
My point is that you're not free to criticise your government. Your only freedom is to be able to vote for one of two types of corporate puppets once every four years. Beyond that, your freedom is pretty limited.
Have you ever read 'manufacturing consent'? Give it a go sometime.0 -

Manufacturing consent? You mean the common sense notion of those having the money writing the laws? I have not read it, but can you honestly say its premise is otherwise?

Do you mean to tell me that without corporate influence my ideals will never carry any real weight? No kidding. But do you actually expect me to believe that I have any reason at all to be afraid of expresing my point of view in public?

Out of these two stories true. But all the noise these stories are (and were) making also covers up other stories which go unnoticed. Every nation has its secrets, which are necessary, but no citizen in any country knows everything their country has done or will do. Legitimate questions about 9/11 are asked and not many convincing answers have been put forward and face it leaving questions unanswered is the best way to make conspiration theories prosper. Because that is all you do. Israel is guilty of countless crimes against the Palestinian people but the pendulum swings both ways.
