Don't tell that to my mother, who is an ethnic Russian who would literally club you if you called her Ukranian or Polish. Not to mention the Serbs and the Croats. Hell, the French and the English.

    But they're all white, right?

I am not saying its productive, but it sure seems understandable to me.

i think as long as people think they are justified in having chips on their shoulders, we can never make progress. I can def agree that it seems understandable. But for me it goes back to people on both sides of the issue saying we need to move forward, but as soon as race can be contrued (rightly or wrongly) as an issue...it all too often is.

Free Country, getting upset about somebodies history club is a little ridiculous and it's protected in the Bill of Rights.

    It's semantics.

What does it really matter if a group of people sit in a room and read about European history?
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

    That is the kicker.

Sure, some guys with beige/pinkish skin did some shit to some guys with black/brownish skin, some time in the past. But that's not everyone, most of those pink and brown people are dead now. Things have changed a lot.

Not to mention Africa sold the slaves to Brittain and the U.S.

The problem we have now is people hanging on to those events from the past. I agree it's important to understand how we got to the point we are at, but it's more important to examine how we are now.

you make a great point......we can't forget the past, but we need to try and avoid letting it diminish our future!....easier said then done, however.

he/she's talking about the fact that white peoples don't all have the same heritage, which is why it should be explained as to what you consider your white heritage... i think it's pretty clear, even for a white french guy...

You said we "don't need to narrow white." I assumed that you were saying that we don't need to narrow down whites into smaller groups. I'm arguing that lots of white people try to distinguish themselves from other white people.

So, racism and sexism have disappeared and everyone is equal in everyone's mind?

Then why are we talking about it in the first place... damn i knew there was a catch.

    Actually they didn't.

And if they had, I'd kick there asses myself.

Of course, if I had a time machine, and kicked my ancestors asses, it probably wouldn't change the course of history, except maybe I wouldn't exist.

on some topics, yes, we should pay reparation for the problem that has yet to be "repaired"...

That's why we have to concentrate on the present and not the past.

I've been pushing equalism since I joined this forum. I'm sure you remember the whole "N-words With Attitdues" thread. Remember I'm racist for not seeing the difference between that and "Cracker"

some people's ancestors got rich by exploiting slaves, and those riches have been passed thru generations, so if the beneficiary of the riches shouldn't have to answer for the acts of their ancestors, to be consistant, shouldn't they have to give back the riches.

    Land exploitation?

OH, you mean because some tribes have casinos and the tribe chief hordes all the money for himself? That's just human nature, not my fault.

    Or.. because...?

It's widely believed that the Norse inhabited N. America before the Natives and Natives are descendant of some Asian civilization. Guess how the Natives got the land?

Except, if my parents are poor. It's my responsibility to make my own life better, because I'm white.

Let me get something straight, absolutely none of my ancestors ever owned slaves, and my skin colour is classified as "white"

For a guy who relies on facts and his education as backing that was one of the most ignorant statements I have ever heard. Do you know anything about North American Prehistory? It has been archaeologically proven that Native People have been in North America (longer in South America) for atleast 13 000 years. Nordic/Vicking Cultures are known to have visited North America approx around 900 A.D. and they never ever entrenched themselves here...also proven archaeologically.
It amazes me to this day the blanket statements that white people apply to Native Culture, the bottom line is people like you dont care about Native people and are for a lack of better words....racist.

dude, none of these comments are aimed at YOU.

That statement is racist by your own definition.

You are right, 200 years later, it's a non-issue. People just have to accept the way life is, and don't tell me natives didn't fight amongst themselves for land and resources.
